    No tap for those left hand threads? Take one of the old pins, clean the threads of any adhesives. Clamp the pin in a vise and with a hack saw, cut a slot straight down into the threaded end about 3/8" deep. Deburr the cut and you can now use it to clean out the threads in the wheel.

      Or a standard thread the other direction.... Other side, I mean

      Wasn’t actually necessary, they were clean enough.

    Done that job a couple of times. I love how the manual says to "drive out the vibration dampers." Easy to say and do if one has a proper sized press to put the wheel into. No other way than what you did. That was one where I expected them to reference a special tool.

    Awesome to see you posting again champion, been a while since Todd has shown up with progress on the SS, but great to hear he's good. Lefty thread for the cush pins is a good to know, will park that in the brain box. Stay warm down there, toast today riding the Darmah on the Goldie😁

    One of my issues was always stripping the bike down and then finding some other critical component that needed replacing. Trouble was, my bike was my only transport. Public transport would kill about 3 1/2 hours and I'm then working in the dark. The old days without led torches.

    I've had really good luck with PVC pipe and couplers for different things on my Harley. I have a big bag full of different sizes and lengths now. What I found was that using long coupler nuts on the all thread gave me a lot more surface area for greater success before the threads shear off.

    Hi Andy, Welcome back. I am trying to remove the drive bushes using a slide hammer and about 30 litres of WD. It's a work in slow progress but none of them budging yet!

    • @ANDY5
      @ANDY5  2 роки тому

      Hi Mark, the bushes are pressed in so I don’t think the penetrating oil will be doing much. I think you will need to fashion some kind of arrangement like what I did to extract them, even if it’s just cobbled together washers and a piece of pipe or a socket. You maybe able to slide hammer them out if you can get enough heat into the rim.

  • @ftby59mikeD
    @ftby59mikeD Рік тому

    Late to the game here, but have what might be a dumb question. When assembled does the cush drive sit flush against the hub dampers? My '06 MTS 620 has about a 1/2" gap with the inner sprocket carrier spacer installed 'shoulder' side towards the hub(ie,inserted from the cush/drive side) Reversing it doesn't seem right & the service manuals not clear. Anybody?

  • @colinmartin2921

    You think that was difficult? The bushes on the SportClassic are in blind housings.

    • @ANDY5
      @ANDY5  3 роки тому +1

      That would be crap! I guess it would be a case of using a slide hammer like I did with the wheel bearings, and some gentle heat application.

    Not enough of Dels copper grease. Should be slathered on all visible surfaces then coated with a silicon grease. Never seen a cush drive like it, but it must be s winner. Ducati may be awkward, but never totally obtuse.
