    Eating good on trail!! That's awesome! Great review as well. Like how compact and flat it packs. Also like the skewer!! Thanks for sharing. May have to invest in one for my half century around the sun tour.

    Nice review, Crow. I like cooking when road camping, but if I'm hiking in very far at all, I'll stick with the freeze dried stuff.

    • @ASTHECROWFLIESHIKING

    That’s it! I am buying one . I have been looking at these stoves for a while now but haven’t really seen a video that convinced me that they are worth the money and now I think they are . I have been looking at the carbon steel one I don’t hike my motorcycle carriers my gear so weight is not a big problem but volume is. Good video that stove is so much nicer than a twig box stove.

      @@ASTHECROWFLIESHIKING I have a big pecan and oak tree so I have a endless supply of small wood 6” or so and thumb to 2” in diameter would be perfect and I could pack some on bike . Thanks again for good review. Stay dry and warm.

      An update for you, Santa brought me a spark and I really like . I have the carbon steel one (I motorcycle camp) followed the seasoning instructions and it is absolutely non stick. So far I have learned that charcoal and no more than finger sized sticks work best. With my backyard fuel source is pecan and white oak is perfect for bacon ! Another time or two and I will be ready to do my review of it. Thank you again for a straight up review.

    Have you been able to use it on an adventure yet? Probably be one where you get a fair amount of time at camp. So you got the 26oz and then the weight of a slab of meat too. Thats for night #1, or just an overnighter. Cool product!

    • @ASTHECROWFLIESHIKING
      @ASTHECROWFLIESHIKING  2 роки тому +1

      Yeah, probably just for a 2-3 night adventure on this one. But, it is amazing for that purpose. Appreciate ya! Crow✌️

    Good thorough review. At the end you showed cleaning it. Does it fully clean or does the carbon build up pretty easily and stick? 🤙

    • @ASTHECROWFLIESHIKING
      @ASTHECROWFLIESHIKING  2 роки тому +1

      It came off very easily. But, I put cooking oil on the plate. That always helps for me. I love this stove. ✌️

  • @MtnWanderer-TieDye-
    @MtnWanderer-TieDye- 2 роки тому

    Very interesting but seems like cleanup in the backcountry, especially from greasy meats, would be hard to handle. Portability of the stove is nice.

    • @ASTHECROWFLIESHIKING
      @ASTHECROWFLIESHIKING  2 роки тому

      Good point! Yeah, definitely need to be near water. I put a little oil on mine before I cooked on it, and it came off easy. But, I’m more likely to use this on a shorter trip, or at a car camping adventure. Appreciate ya! Crow✌️

    Nice first look Crow! How about the clean up? How would you go about that while backpacking? Seems involved.

    • @ASTHECROWFLIESHIKING
      @ASTHECROWFLIESHIKING  2 роки тому +1

      Good question! So, I just brought a garbage bag and took some steel wool. It cleaned up pretty good. But, the carrying case for it is really good and I just cleaned it when I got home. Thanks for watching it Dave! Crow

    It's a twofer grill/twig stove 👍

  • @robslagle
    @robslagle 2 роки тому

    my only issue with this is the front of the plates being unsupported, if you're using heavier cook ware, that might be an issue.

    • @ASTHECROWFLIESHIKING
      @ASTHECROWFLIESHIKING  2 роки тому +2

      Good point Rob. Yeah, the stove is pretty stable, but, this is the small one, so, I wouldn’t use any larger pots. Now the larger ones, they seem very stable. I love this stove. Appreciate you watching my friend. Crow✌️

  • @Treyamigos

    Maybe I’m looking at it wrong but is it awkward adjusting the grate while the fire is going? I’m assuming you carry gloves for that.

    • @ASTHECROWFLIESHIKING
      @ASTHECROWFLIESHIKING  2 роки тому +2

      Yeah, got to carry gloves. That plate gets hot. At first, it is not so bad. But, as the fire gets hot, yeah, gloves are essential for this stove. Thanks for watching it. Crow✌️

  • @victorbravo3222

    Do you know how the thick the titanium plates are of the grill itself and the grates? My concern about titanium grills is the warping... Thx and great review!

    • @ASTHECROWFLIESHIKING
      @ASTHECROWFLIESHIKING  Рік тому +1

      I don’t. I can’t find that. I may reach out to OTZI and see if they can tell me. The titanium seems very flexible and hasn’t warped on me. It doesn’t require it to be seasoned like the other metal choices. I have so many titanium pots, I have never had an issue with it. But, you never know. Thanks for watching it. Crow✌️
