I'm amazed at what Black was able to accomplish on the PS2. We're talking a machine that has a 300 Mhz CPU with 32MB of ram. The fact that this isn't a slideshow is a miracle.

This game was my late father's all time fav!!! he bought me PS2 but he never really played it himself until i introduced him to this game! i loved watching him getting immersed into the game though he didnt really understand English that much, and so i spent countless nights with him teaching, playing and translating stuff for him, which is a core memory material for me, we had sooo much fun:D he REALLY wanted to see the future of gaming especially the post-PS3 era but sadly he's gone before he could witness it himself, but hey, i got a lot to tell once i meet him later in another life! Thanks for bringing this game to my attention again man, great video as always, keep up the good work! much love❤

This game brings me back so many memories as a kid. One of the most unique and obscure FPS game made for the PS2, and to think it's made by the guys who've made Burnout is amazing. Black is a combination of both Killzone and COD.

I played Black on the original xbox back in the day and I loved it but was never able to complete the last difficulty option. I was blown away by how good the effects of this game looked and it is still a shame that we never got a Black 2. Awesome video as always

I always felt like Black was a prototype take on Medal of Honor in a modern setting, considering it was an FPS by EA. Sure enough, Medal of Honor would eventually make that leap into modern warfare (no relation to Call of Duty Modern Warfare). Hope you're feeling better by now Evan

I remember reading a review of this game before it came out and one of the big selling points of BLACK was its destructible environments - buildings would topple, windows get smashed, chunks of walls would come out with explosions - it was incredible for its time. I wanted to play it so bad, but when I saw it for sale I didn't really have the money for another game, so I never played it. Very interesting to watch a video about it after so many years.
I remember seeing this game in game informers and on the gamestop shelves everytime I went there. But yeah for some reason I never bought it (money forsure). I'm glad I finally tried it
Great video man,love the stand up shtick very cool. You took me back to the good old days. I played this game over and over, can’t get enough of the tense atmosphere, chunky explosions, teeth rattling gun sounds, bullets thudding into bodies, ping sound of helmets being hit and of course the agonising screams and yells of the enemy as you kill them. Criterion nailed it right out of the box. Love the Burnout games too, insane mayhem racing.

Black was such an interesting title. I still remember how they had to dial back environmental destruction, because it turned out with the original amount a lot of playtesters were unable to progress because the level was just too destroyed to get to the next part. Amazing.
I emulated this last year and BOY it is one unique, action packed, impactful, explosive and RAD shooter. It's absolutely in your face and there's SO much to blow up and make particles that it's mind blowing

Bought this when i was a teenager for ps2 and after a day the disk doesn’t work at all just freezes. Always want to finish it. Man those were the no worries days! All summer non stop gaming with my cousins.

I remember being 9 and playing this on my ps2. Struggled way too much to get past the border on the second mission and since english isn't my first language, I was pretty much stuck after that. I didn't know how to progress and then 2 weeks passed and I never touched it again although I regret not finishing it. For some reason however, this game remained somewhere in the corners of my memory for the cool sound design and technical feats for a video game at the time.

I've been watching these videos for a while now and it's clear to me what made old games so good - not being afraid to be corny and fun for fun's sakw. Loads of modern games take themselves too seriously.
The flinch and death animations in this game were the same dopamine as the common infected in left 4 dead. The guns are still some of the meatiest and most powerful sounding I've ever heard in games, and the explosions and destruction were incredible for the time. The encounters back to back were a playable shlocky action movie, such a classic.
Also, I know you love Timesplitters. Free Radical Design and the next TS installment is at risk being cancelled once again. Breaks my heart. I'm doing everything in my power to #savetimesplitters
