    Ingredients:
    2 cups raw Sunflower Seeds, 1/2 cup Nutritional Yeast, 2 tablespoons lemon juice, 1 tablespoon roasted red pepper, 1 tablespoon tomato paste, 2 teaspoons salt, 2 teaspoons miso paste, 1/2 teaspoon onion powder, 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder, 1/2 teaspoon mustard powder, 1/4 teaspoon turmeric, 2 cups of water, 2 teaspoons of agar agar flakes or carrageenan powder.

    My grandma from La Paz Mexico said that people ate garbanzo tortillas when maze was scarce. They would substitute different beans, cactus and plants when meat was unavailable. They were vegan and didn't know it.

    This cheese is AMAZING 🤩!!!!!!!! Melted it over pasta and it was DELICIOUS!!!!!!!! I had to make it without the carrageenan powder because I could not find it anywhere and the cheese was still outstanding!!!!!!!!!! Thank you very much!!!!!!!

    I made this with some gum from the Asian supermarket. It turned out amazing. I made stuffed peppers topped with this,also macaroni. It tasted very different to dairy cheese but in a good way. It was also really cheap to make.

    Yum cheese! You can try using carrageen moss too, it's the wholefood that carageenan is made from. Irish people have used carrageen moss (seaweed) for centuries for making custard.

    FANTASTIC,i can skip using the worlds most expensive nuts (cashews) and make a fine PIZZA cheese topping for almost nothing.GENIUS!!!

      Thank you - I'm not sure how it will freeze but it's probably a lot like freezing regular cheese - it'll probably get a little weird lol

    I am sure you would have a lot of sales if you could factory produce your cheeses! There is totally a demand now to see and try them on the market more! Animal friendly is totally part of evolution! And that is what my guides (the universe) are always sharing with me!

    How do you feel about this recipe and substituting the sunflower seeds for raw, soaked cashews? I have so much of that :) If I were to use raw cashews instead, is the amount of 2 cups also sufficient ?

      You could sub in some cashews & two cups would be fine. I prefer cashews as well but I was looking for an alternative that would be cheaper and OK for people with nut allergies.

    agar agar is very difficult to find in my country, could I use tapioca starch instead?

      Yes, you can sub in the tapioca starch, but the cheese might not come out as firm as it would with the agar agar. Hope this helps!

      +outofthisswirled; There's ways around this and still use the same thing carrageenan is made from irish moss so she could just use irish moss that's been soaked and rinsed for about 12-24 hours (it takes a bit to get the salt out) I'm planning on doing a vegan cheese platter for a Robbie Burns thing and I need a cheddar recipe ... if it works Ill post how much I adjust the recipe to accommodate the change.       I don't know what you could use in place of the yeast - it gives some cheese flavor & color & vitamin B12.

      Yes - I think you could sub in some tapioca flour if you don't have agar agar

    Lots of expensive ingredients...hard to find ! Expensive appliances needed...this recipe is just not very practical for the majority of us vegans... .most of us don't have all this fancy stuff or access to many of the ingredients. In the end the cost of making a small amount of cheese would be overwhelming for most of us ! You would have to be rich !

      Abby Gayle how in the world.is this all stuff hard to find?! and it's not even that expensive. you can find most of it at walmart or wholefoods. even amazon . amazon has alot of vegan products that are cheaper than so.e stores
