I remember one night in my final year of university, smoking a massive spliff in my room and sitting at my window, watching the night go by listening to this. I don’t think I’ll ever forget it
@@TheDaddyO44I will always return to this. For me, it captures perfectly, the ecstatic experience. Life is breathed into every thing, wood grain flows like rivers, buildings wrap around you in embrace, the sky glows in radiance. Testament to the lasting value of The Field’s music and of course to you for such a touching mix. One of the all time great musical compilations, in my opinion.
Them times! I have a similar memory of the first time i heard animal collective--tripping, balls, my friend putting the headphones on my ears as I collapsed into the couch and the sounds of #1/fireworks filling my ears. This guy's one of the best to ever do minimal techno? microhouse? Whatever it is it's beautiful stuff! I first discovered him when I was a model for a life drawing class in college and one of the students put on From Here we Go Sublime. My life was changed!!
I'm only familiar with The Field's first 3 albums so not every track is known to me. This is a great way to check out a selection of his tracks. Just discovered this channel and, as a fan of techno, deep house, tech house, progressive and trance, I am very much looking forward to checking out some other mixes!
Fantastic stuff, delicate work deftly handled. Thanks so much for sharing! The Field's one of my favorite artists and I'm thrilled you're helping him get the love he deserves. ... Also the number of people tripping to this is encouraging. :) Awesome mix great job!
I came to this via your Field Trip mix. Same standard - ie, pretty damn high! Congrats, mate. Superb work. I find it hard to explain what it is about The Field that I love. I guess it's the blend between an hypnotic groove and the beautifully judged textures.. It's subtle and obvious at the same time. That is a hard act to pull off.
Many thanks Vanojoh, I'm pleased you like them. There is a third Field mix (recently blocked here on YT) on my Mixcloud channel www.mixcloud.com/TheDaddy044/the-field-reworks-mix-2007-2014-an-optional-excursion/
To the guy who replied to my comment... I’m sure it was a blessed lovely message that I promise I will read.... however, rn, I’m tripping too hard to figure out how to read that comment
great stuff......i am into a wide range of music in general and tbh not really familiar with this type of dancey electronic music but when i heard the Field once i was sucked in......i like the sort of repeatitiveness of it that subtly changes....hard to explain....i have no idea what else is like this but really love it.......fantastic mix as i have only got a few of his CD's.....got The Following recently which is superb.
I agree, I heard looping state of mind first and thought the repetetiveness and little samples were great rather than annoying as some might find them. I really like his newer, longer stuff though which I can just sit back and relax too or do some work while listening to it.
Here here! I love the field, thanks so very much for this mix. It's quite intricate and well-constructed, and when you're working with music as subtle as the field that's quite an accomplishment. This also may, or may not, and in fact is, our go-to copulation music, but it's also great for contemplation. great work! Also, Ady Cardiac, check out some Philip Glass, particularly Glassworks and Music in 12 Parts or Einstein on the Beach. I think Mr. Welner draws a lot of inspiration from him. And Meshuggah is a more metal example of some similar musical techniques. And William Basinski's Disintegration Loops for a more abstract version.
Bit late to this, but if you like this i'd recommend Ulrich Schnauss's 'A strangely isolated place.' It's not a perfect style match but the experience can be very similar. Hope you're doing well.
Thank you so much for this - probably listened to it around 60 times. But I think you need to make a new one now that includes stuff of The Follower and Infinite Moment. Please please please.
Many thanks Mark. I have a few mixes already planned for this year, plus a couple I'm seriously considering such as a new Field mix. Check back occasionally or subscribe - it will def show up at some point :)
+Gustavo Bonvin "Comenius Garden" - it was a free download 'single', and still available if you google it. Full track-listing with start-times in the description above :)
This just takes you on a journey you didn't know you needed.

Sounds so good!! I still can't believe this mix was a decade ago! Thanks for sharing your moment Luke 🍻😃

Brilliant idea. Have to take the tour if you're okay with a long bout of music.

'Leave it'... What a bass tune! 😍
So special ❤️
Fantastic mix - the way the Field is meant to be experienced.
the transition between yesterday and today" and leave it is the fucking best..!
joshc333 Also love 'Paw' into 'Ice', and the subtle reappearance of the 'Paw' loop in the middle. . .real nice
Agreed, I love the transition from 'Ice' to 'Is This Power' as well, particularly how 'Power' is slightly sped up.
I love the slight tempo boost on "A Guided Tour." It makes a big difference.
Wouldn't have noticed it if I hadn't seen your comment!
I feel the same way about this particular version of "Is This Power"
Love it!! Everytime...
Such a great LP.
My new favorite channel...
I love the way Arpeggiated Love bleeds in to Black Sea every now and then. Good work!
I'm so glad you still have this, I thought I lost it 😭😭😭
