What a night that was atmosphere was off the dial we queued all the way from the Arsenal tavern at 6.30 and just got into the top corner of the Northbank I was 14 years old it was rammed in there as was a cup replay against Derby played on a Monday afternoon during the three day week and the lightning industrial strikes meant the floodlights could not be relied upon to stay on... I was off school and shitloads of peeps off work as over 63k was at the game... we won might have been 2.1 again can't remember now to be honest.. happy days or what.... Update... just googled it 0.0 at Highbury and lost 5.0 in the next replay at Derby.... my memory ain't what it was... no wonder I tried to forget that one x
Actually we lost 5.0 to Derby in the league, this FA Cup run took us to the semi final where we lost to Sunderland 2.1 but the game after this was against Man City we won 1.2 at Maine Road
"The right decision.....but it can't be good for the game" ? Dear oh dear. What a crazy world where everyone sees the facts, but some condone the fact they were missed. Sounds like the English Football Associations
Was there. Remember my dad lifting me over the turnstiles and sitting on his lap. Think there was 60,000+ there from memory. Thanks for posting

Sounds more like a biased commmentor and it sounds like Barry Davies..."can't be good for the game" indeed
They had a similar number against Derby in the cup that year, or the year before. It was packed out, and a boring 0-0 draw.
Arsenal won the replay.
The last 60k+ attendance at the old Highbury 62,746 To be exact
That's amazing for a mid week fa cup match.
There was much more than that in there turnstile operators had a field day/night 2 in for 1 and half price was common practice back in the day.
We wuz robbed 😠😠 !!! Herb
We was a quality cup side in the 70s !!! Bit like now really !!!
