Andy was one of the martial artists who actually could USE the Axe kick very effectfully and not just had it as a “flexibel” show- like kick....I admire his skills a lot....respect to Andy and R.I.P.
In the Karate family as a whole. We don't differenciate between styles, we are all brothers in this martial art, and we can learn a lot from each other.
Insane power and technique. The only saving grace is that it looks a bit telegraphed when he loads up but I guess that doesn't matter when he cuts your leg in half
0:15 I really like that he incorperates the hikite to generate more power but what you gain in power you lose in your guard, using the hikite like this opens your jaw up amd gives you alot less time to react since you have to bring your hands back up, although this concept needs work its awesome for getting that one really good hit in that could down your oppenent wether aimed at the face or body.
Many do not know he was bullied as a child. His determination and ability, his unique style, he will beat Bruce Lee any day, maybe with exception of Judd Reid.
i never flexed in my life but i can do the axe kick above my head and im 188 cm what you need to do is practice it often and swing it up with power so its stretches the muscles
Cro cop did an axe kick because of andy, cause andy was his roll model when mirko was still a teenager. Then in 2000 mirko had the chance to fight andy, and during the match mirko surprised andy with an axe kick, and then they smile at itch other and touched gloves. It was beautiful moment.OSS!!

If you take a close look at boxing matches, you will notice that boxers bring their opposite hand all the way down when they deliver a knock-out blow.

yeah man, axe kick is pretty powerful. Especially if your flexible enough to get your leg high, then slam your heel down on their face =0
and when people duck,if you are good oyu can also land the axe kick a little bit to the side of the jaw or the temple
Yeah, I just learned of this art, I want to train in it at an actual dojo one day. For now I'll just keep working on my flexibility and the kicks.
i never flexed in my life but i can do the axe kick above my head and im 188 cm what you need to do is practice it often and swing it up with power so its stretches the muscles
