Nice video bro also the engines 😍😍😍 keep up the great content
Very nice Video! Really appreciate your Videos!
Another super video......many thanks from New Zealand! (I watch these videos while I’m eating my evening meal.)
OOOh that transition of sunrise through the clouds!!! pastel colours!
Dang, Delta is really going hard on retiring rear-mounted planes. MD-series, its little brother here as the 717, in 2025, and CRJ-200's. And then the 767's (not rear-mounted but still being retired) in a while. At least there will be bigger CRJ's (and less cramped, the newer models are actually quite comfy if you're average sized or lower for sure). Have you been on a Fokker before? Another rear mounted plane that is increasingly less common. However, we may see rear mounted aircraft in future, many new concept aircraft have them. And business aircraft of course to negate the problem of getting dirt in engines.
I haven't ever flown on a Fokker. At least not to my knowledge. I didn't start keeping track of my flights until 2010, but I did fly a lot before that. It's possible, I flew on one but just don't remember it.
Delta is planning to retire the 717s as well?! THEY'VE GOT TO BE KIDDING! The Boeing 717 is not even that old compared to MD-88s. Those jets had just started with their flying careers.
You might be surprised how old some of the 717's are. I flew on one the other day that was two years older than the MD-80 that American used for their final MD-80 flight. For example, N949AT is almost 22 years old.
@@sla31 But still, they can't be serious about retiring those 717s.
@@jermainesimmons2944hopefully they will be sent to lease companies and they will be use as start ups for airliners?
MadDog Jr 😍
we have 5 more years, make 'em count, boys! 😎
Mad Pup as I've seen a lot of other people call them. I plan to fly on the 717's as much as possible over the next few years.
@@sla31 Yes! Thank you.
Afterwards, the MD11 will be the last Maddog regularly flying.
I cant believe we're to that point already of these guys being retired/sold overseas. Seems not long ago my hometown airline Midwest Express ordered 30 of them (717-2BL). I understand why retirement is near, damn time flys!
😢😢😢
Great video! Although I was wondering if the plane was ever gonna stop, the taxi back to the airport took what felt was an hour!!😂✈️🛩🛬
We did land on the farthest runway from the terminal. Thanks for watching my friend!
That's ATL for ya!
i really love the power of BR715 and its sound its really incredible thanks for the content.
Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for watching!
Sad to see that delta is retiring those ☹️but at least we have a full flight video to remember them 👍
ikr
I expected 717's to be around for another ten years. Oh well, they don't plan to do it till 2025 so that leaves plenty of time.
Nice video, but if you ever fly on a Boeing 717 of any airline again, can you please record a full engine shutdown before you make any other kind of final video cuts prior to the ending? Thanks!!!
nice im flying on this same exact plane on Friday
Me to
nice landing ,nice video ,nice engine wiew ,nice inbound taxi 🤣
Did you board the plane before the APU was turned on? It seems real quiet when you first boarded and then just a surprisingly louder in the next clip.
I honestly don’t remember. But it’s very possible.
Amazing video of a wonderful aircraft =D
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great video just got done wach g after filming a football game
Thanks for watching my friend! Appreciate it!
Really cool landing.
Thanks for watching my friend!
Gotta love the beautiful music coming from that engine. Best seat on that plane, right? How long were you stuck in Atlanta after the engine issues on your next Delta flight?
Yes it is. Not much beats row 27 on a Delta 717. As for being stuck in ATL. It wasn't that long. See the flight to RDU actually was fixed and left about an hour and a half late. Which normally wouldn't have been a problem. I was actually flying to RDU and then flying directly back to ATL. However, my flight to Tulsa left at like 2:30pm. And the only other flight was at like 9:00pm and it was sold out. So, had the later Tulsa flight had seats, I would've waited and just taken the later flight, but it didn't. I didn't want to have to wait around ATL until 9:00pm to maybe not get a seat, and then have to wait again till 2:30pm the next day. So, I elected to drop the ATL-RDU-ATL segments to make sure I didn't miss the 2:30 Tulsa flight. Turns out it was the right choice, as the RDU flight arrived back at the gate in ATL 8 minutes before my flight to Tulsa left. I wouldn't have made it. So, I only had like 3 hours to kill in ATL.
@@sla31 Gotcha. That's not too bad.
Ooo. I see you now have merch! Will there be a coffee mug in the future? That's what I'd like to get. are the tees made here in the U.S.A.?
Well, I hadn’t planned a coffee mug, but I can certainly look into it. As for the shirts, I believe so, but I’m not 100% sure so let me check and get back to you. I’m traveling today and have a bunch of samples at home. When I get back I can look.
@@sla31 Thank you so much. That sounds good. I'm looking forward to hearing from you.
BTW, how'd you find Atlanta when you were here? I'm especially hoping that H.J. Airport was clean and smelled good. Did you get to grab some food or visit any of the shops or lounges? I've always wanted to visit the lounges and even the spas at the airport if I had the airline miles to use for it. I'm not sure if they still allow their passengers to use them at Delta, but I do know you can upgrade to First Class if you have them. Back when I had my Guide Dog, I flew with TWA, and I'd had knee surgery and had to use a wheelchair for a total of 12 weeks, they upgraded me to First Class to make sure I had plenty of leg room, and I was deeply moved. I miss TWA.
Going back to the coffee mug, if it's more than $15, I may not be able to afford it with shipping and all, because I'm on a fixed income, so I have to watch my spending. So for now, I really hope you're having a really good time traveling, and thank you so much for all you do.
@@heatherstub So, as for your previous questions. I looked into it and Tee Spring, which is the company that produces the merchandise, sources and ships items based on where the order is placed. So, if you order from inside the US, they say your order is sourced and printed/shipped from their facilities in Kentucky. If you order from outside the US, it's sourced form their partners in the EU. Looks like a coffee mug would be around the $8.99-$9.99 range. I'm not sure how much shipping would be on top of that, but it'd probably be around the $15.00 mark total.
As for Atlanta. I've been there a few times now since the pandemic hit. It's been consistently one of the busiest airports I've seen. That makes sense, since Delta is funneling a lot of passengers through there. The lounges were open, but I didn't list any of them. Most of, if not all of, the spas were closed. Probably since they're so "hands on, close contact" places. Not all the restaurants were open, but most are. You had your choice of quick service or sit down places. I grabbed Popeyes and Wendys recently, as I'm usually in hurry up mode to get as much footage as possible. Overall the terminals looked clean, and I saw a lot of people cleaning surfaces and bathrooms.
That's pretty neat, your TWA story. I honestly don't know if I ever had the pleasure of flying TWA. It's possible, as I flew with my parents a lot as kid, when I didn't really care much about the flights. I know for sure we flew Southwest, United, Northwest, Delta... I can remember those. I remember seeing TWA planes at gates when I was a kid, but I can't remember if we ever flew on them. I didn't start keeping logs of my flights until 2010, at that point I was much older and TWA was long gone. I actually got upgraded to first yesterday on my last flight. I have status with Delta, so that's not unusual, but I hadn't requested it. They moved me to separate passengers. So, Delta is actually giving people upgrades, at no cost, to keep people distanced. Again, I have status with them, so I's sure that factored in, but nevertheless, it was nice.
Is that something venting from the wing during the landing approach or just a contrail from a tip?
That's just moisture in the air condensing due to the pressure difference. Nothing to worry about. Thanks for watching!
Awesome Boeing 717 😍🤩
Nice 👍 jet 🛩
Do you get used to the Engine buzz at take off?
Nope. I love it every time, no matter what. It's one the best things about flying.
Lol
Nice one 👍
Thanks my friend!
I swear that deep drop on spool up is ear porn
fly in the sky.
Are you taking the final Delta Boeing 777 flight on October 30-31?
Most likely not. Unfortunately, I am scheduled to work my regular job on both of those days, and I'm already taking vacation in November to take another special flight.
Would that be a 777-200 or 300? I'd really like to know. Also, to where is it going? Thank you so much in advance.
I love that plane, and I hope they don't retire it any time soon. Of course, you're gonna feel it more in the back of the aircraft, but to get those engine sounds, that's where they are. Fantastic! If you have any comments about the flight, I'd love to be able to read them in the subtitles or annotations, or if they're on another one of your pages, could you please let me know? I don't like to have to go that route, but I will. I'd just need to 'alt-tab' back and fourth from screen to screen. Also, what's the date of your flight? I didn't find that information in the description. I know, I know, and just have one more request. Could you please tell us the cruising altitude of each flight? We love this channel! I love it, and my cat, Angel, doesn't seem to mind it either. Thank you again as always, and keep up the great work.
Heather
The flight date was September 28, 2020. As for notes, or commentaries. I don't add any type of commentary in text form to any of my flights, so you're not missing anything there. My channel has always been about the aviation, and everyone being able to share their love for aviation. It's not intended to be a review or critique of the airlines, aircraft, or service received. That being said, I used to release trip reports, which were condensed versions of the full flights that did include more information. It still wasn't a review, but it gave more information then I have in these videos. I quit making them last year as they were the most time consuming videos to edit and make, and they actually brought in the least amount of views. So, I was putting a lot of extra work into them, and not getting anything back from them. I don't make a lot of money from this channel, but I do make some, and it all goes back into new flights. Now that I have a family, and I still work a separate full time job, it became a "time investment vs. reward" type of situation. I didn't expect the to make me rich, but I was investing a lot of time, for very little return. Whereas the full flights really don't take a lot of time to edit, since I basically include everything and don't really edit anything, and they are far more popular. If this channel ever gets to the point where I make enough to only do this, then I'll have a lot more time to invest in bringing stuff like that back.
@@sla31That makes sense. I really appreciate it. I'm so glad it's more popular, because I stopped listening to one channel who used to do that. He claimed that it wasn't more popular, and he had some pretty long videos, too.
How's the baby, by the way?
Arrival on 28?
What’s the sound at 6:33?
APU (Auxiliary Power Unit) applying high air pressure to start the engines.
Where headed to next?
Well, it was supposed to be RDU, but if you saw my upload form this morning you know how that went. If you haven't seen it... It didn't go haha. Maintenance caused me to drop it and my next flight.
Skylite Productions OOF
No wonder why when I was looking at the flight tracker that day it said the flight was canceled (at the time it said cancelled)
Excellent trip report the B717-200s looking fierce and they look good can't wait for them to start flying again to other Delta hubs other than ATL I can ride on these all day
Driving at night.
First!
Is this the worst seat you ever got to do a video from ...?...kind of loud and it can't be very relaxing ..?
I suppose it's a matter of perspective. I actually think this is one of the best seats on any aircraft still flying today. I pick this seat on purpose because I love sitting here so much. There aren't many aircraft left where you can sit right in front of the engine and listen to the glorious engine harmonics like you can here. Long story short, I love sitting in row 27 on Delta's 717's. I plan to sit here as much as possible over the next few years before the last of the Mad Dog line of aircraft disappears forever! Thanks for watching my friend!
