This is amazing my grandfather was a John Wishard he's on one of the ancestors my mother was Eileen Wishard. I'm so honored to say I come from the same bloodline.
Thanks for this great series. I have read much on John Knox and understood Wishart's influence on him, but did not know that Wishart had gone to Geneva himself to study with Calvin and Bullinger which explains how Knox was knowledgeable of him in his exile. Thank you for reminding us of how God is calling young people to serve Him again.
George was a 14th Great-Uncle of mine. His brother James was a direct ancestor. Their descendants emigrated from the Highlands of Scotland to North Carolina, and that’s where my family comes in.
Neat video. I love the perspective of Wishart starting/being part of a Revival. One of the difficult things to figure out is how did Scotland move from universal Catholicism to being predominantly Presbyterian/Protestant.
Wow just heard a sermon about this … Andrews of Andrews University dropped out of school at age 11… self taught 7 different languages… memorized the entire New Testament by memory! Became an assistant editor by age 19 or 21 I cannot remember.
My relationship was his Mother Elizabeth Learmonth who married George Father Sir James Wyshart of Pittarrow in 30 April 1512. George was brought up by his Uncle Sir David and later his cousin Sir James Learmonth of Dairsie (my Lineage from his son Sir Patrick) who both financed his learning with James brought him back to Scotland after getting Cardinal Beaton to confirm he was safe to do so as he was attending the English Court as Ambassador on negotiations of the marriage to Edward Prince of Wales with the infant Queen Mary .
the protest is not over we must pic up the banner and continue the work the these great men of god has lay down we must protest the church of rome catholicism that false system that robs god of his glory and humanity of its salvation the pope is still antichrist and revelation chapter 13 and chapter 17 and 2 thessalonions says so,but deer protestant we must preach the message that christ is our rightgeousnes the ones that santify us,but we must be obedient to gods commandment not nine but all ten commandments including the 7th day sabbathmost of christianity are keeping sunday as the day of rest, but if we are going to be protestant we must obey all of scripture.
