      Very few people know that this is stepping stone to come out of the clutches of Pope very daringly. Because of these people Pope has been subdued in 1799 by Napoleon.

    Thank you for this series. I came across the book the Great Controversy when I was 14 through a friend of my Dad who lent it to him. It affected my life and changed my course permanently. My professional work (as a TV Producer) has majorly centered around promoting Bible distribution, studying and living by principles taught in the Holy scriptures. thank you from a grateful heart.

    Interesting series. Sadly, the "humble man preaching God's Word" is only half the story with Zwingli.
    In the second half of his life, he became so obsessed with power and what he felt was God's divine plan for him that he led the city council to execute former friends and associates who disagreed with him. The "Täufer" (Anabaptists) were taken and publicly drowned in the River Limmat for wanting to only baptize adults and for daring to put personal belief and conviction over the power of the State. Rural farmers who refused to bow to Zwingli fled to caves and eventually other countries in order to survive. Some of the descendants of these persecuted Täufer include the Mennonites in present-day Pennsylvania.
    Zwingli also led reglious wars to spread his version of Christianity elsewhere in Switzerland. He died in battle attempting to subject the city of Lucerne.

    Zwingli slaughtered the Anabaptists in front of their families, many of whom were young men who personally knew and looked up to Zwingli. He executed 4000 ppl for not baptizing their newborns. He said that Hercules and the Argonauts, ppl from greek mythology, are in Heaven. And lastly he died in battle.

    • @ActivityOfTheSoul
      @ActivityOfTheSoul 10 місяців тому

      People love to hold the persecution of the Anabaptists over the heads of Zwingli, Calvin, Luther, etc, but that was entirely the fault of the Anabaptists. Anabaptists at the time were not a peaceful sect that just happened to practice credobaptism, no actually, they were a radical apocalyptic death cult.
      There is also nothing scripturally inconsistent with punishing heretics, btw.

      And we can all see what happened in this 1900 years, dark ages you may call, satan was active, who ever tried to oppose Pope we're brutally murdered. You can take reference from church history.
      For example they have the punishment like, Mary 's womb, burning in stakes, guillotine, Frying in hot Oil, etc. All the punishment were given to people who oppose Pope.
      What they oppose?
      Idol worship, Child baptism, modification of bible, usurpation of power from kings and taking control over kingdoms, selling indulgences etc. Few things I can remember I am typed but if you closely watch those dark years they have literally done great sins against christ.

    Let's roll this back a a little. The Bible was stolen from the Catholic Church, and then twisted to fit the delusions of the Protestant revolutionaries (not reformers). It's like stealing the neighbor's car, and then telling the true owner to come over and see how wonderful his new car is. Secondly, the book stolen from the Catholic Church does not contain the doctrine of sola scriptura, so yes, sola scriptura is not scriptural. A Church is needed to interpret the Scriptures, namely, the one founded by Christ (There were no protestants in the early days of Christianity. Read the early church Fathers, and see how Catholic the Church was). Thirdly, Luther was apparently thrilled when Zwingli died: "Scripture Alone was a great system for Luther until someone disagreed with his interpretation, as we can see from above. Luther also fought Zwingli over the words of Christ in the Gospel of John chapter 6 regarding the Eucharist. Zwingli argued to take Christ's words only symbolically or to be taken as "in the mind of the believer" while Luther claimed that the correct interpretation was that of "consubstantiation". They both disagreed on a fundamental interpretation of Scripture. This is a fact. Luther hated Zwingli so much that when Zwingli was killed in battle he said, 'he got what he deserved.... His death proved I'm right and he's wrong;.." John 6 is very clear: Unless you eat My Flesh and drink My Blood, you will not have life in you. That's called transubstantiation. And, as for the multiplicity of interpretations, how do you know that your religious group is the correct interpreter of doctrine, when there are tens of thousands of different protestant denominations?

      Lutherans believe the eucharist is the true substantial corporal body and blood of Christ for the forgiveness of sins. Luther nor Lutherans us the term “Consubstantiation” it was a pejorative term coined by the “Reformed”. For sure Luther believed Zwingli was likely in hell, he said Zwingli “had a different spirit”. Luther, by his own standards would not consider a “Baptist” as a legitimate church.

      The Bible used by Luther and the Reformers was the Texts Receptus. Kept by the Waldenses, the true keepers of the faith. The Papists took the bible out the hands of the population, not granting religious freedom, putting themselves in the place of God. James 2:9 "But if ye have respect to persons, ye commit sin, and are convinced of the law as transgressors." To keep the bible in the hands of just a few people is to commit this sin. To believe so, is to commit this sin.

      @@vt1642 The Catholic Church decided what is Canon. That is what is meant by "The Bible is a Catholic Book". Doesn't matter what manuscript was used by whoever...The Catholic Church decided that Paul was a real person who wrote a real letter called "Romans". Everyone defers to The Catholic Church in some way as the authorizer, authenticator and validator of The Bible.
      Yes, The Catholic Church was wary about the lay faithful handling Sacred Scriptures. Nevertheless they didn't exactly restrict the people from The Bible. Copies of The Bible were rare (no printing press), so only the wealthy could afford it. Plus, for a good chunk of The Middle Ages, only the clergy were literate - for the purposes of teaching the lay faithful. There was a high level of illiteracy amongst the lay peoples and at certain points in antiquity amongst even the wealthy/nobility.
      More to the point:- was The Catholic Church correct in being wary of the layperson mishandling The Bible?? I mean you are on here using The Bible to defend why you don't need to be a New Covenant Christian and why you should continue in your Old Covenant/pagan ways...so yes, I'll say The Church was 100% correct!!
      You can check my channel for more details of what I am talking about.

      @@vt1642 Zwingli was heretic. Religious freedom is a product of the enlightenment. It is something Luther rightly never supported. By God’s grace, it is working in our favor at the moment.
      Sure the Catholic Church was guilty of withholding sacred scripture (it was read to them daily in Latin), Protestants are equally guilty of withholding tradition.

  • @P-el4zd
    @P-el4zd 2 роки тому

    No, Zwingli was a heretic. In Luther’s Work’s, Luther calls Zwingli, Karlstadt, Oecolampadius, and Caspar Schwenkfeld (on whose name Luther does a play on words throughout his tract, making it mean “Stinkfield”)-and by implication those who believe as they do-“fanatics and enemies of the sacrament” (LW, Vol.38, 287), men who are guilty of “blasphemies and deceitful heresy” (Vol. 38, 288), “loathsome fanatics” (Vol. 38, 291), “murderers of souls” (Vol. 38, 296), who “possess a bedeviled, thoroughly bedeviled, hyper-bedeviled heart and lying tongue” (Vol. 38, 296), and who “have incurred their penalty and are committing ‘sin which is mortal’,” (Vol. 38, 296), “blasphemers and enemies of Christ” (Vol. 38, 302), and “God’s and our condemned enemies” (Vol. 38, 316).
    He described Zwingli (largely because of this very doctrine) as a “full-blown heathen” (Vol. 38, 290), and wrote: “I am certain that Zwingli, as his last book testifies, died in a great many sins and in blasphemy of God” (Vol. 38, 302-303).
    When Zwingli was slain in battle in 1531, Luther was convinced that this was a judgment from God: And recently God has notably punished the poor people of Switzerland, Zwingli and his followers, for they were hardened and perverted, condemned of themselves, as St. Paul says. They will all experience the same.
    Although neither Munzerites nor Zwinglians will admit that they are punished by God, but give out that they are martyrs, nevertheless we, who know that they have gravely erred in the sacrament and other articles, recognize God’s punishment and beware of it ourselves. Not that we rejoice in their misfortune, which is and always has been a sorrow to our hearts, but we cannot let the witness of God pass unnoticed. We hope from the bottom of our hearts that they are saved, as it is not impossible for God to convert a man in a moment at his death; but to call them martyrs implies that they died for a certain divine faith, which they did not. We do not send criminals whom we execute to hell, but we do not for that reason make martyrs of them.
