As someone who has been indoors for the past 5 years, I get the need to be around people. But also please know how much we appreciate you and all the work you do. My husband hates it when I listen to videos or podcasts when he is sitting here, but you he puts up with because he knows you save him money in the long run. And he knows how much I enjoy it. Best wishes for your dad's quick healing and getting that man back to work. I'm married to one of those worker bees.

I completely understand your anxiety about your dad. Earlier this year my mom was in the ICU in serious condition. I was absolutely beside myself. I felt trapped. I live on the other side of the country from her. After chatting with one of my niblings, I ended up flying out, last minute, and staying there for almost a month.
Everyone is much better now. Hooray for modern medicine, communication, and transportation technology!

It hasn't been a great week for many people--the hurricane, a factory fire in an adjacent county making businesses close because of bad fumes in the air--- Thanks for sharing your life journey with us and I am excited about your being able to teach classes in person. I love teaching classes in person and, and after having done a couple, I hope to do more.

My templet came broken and was in a bubble mailing envelope. However, they said they would send out a new one. A few days later they emailed me that all they had left in stock were cracked also. Apparently this was a problem coming from the supplier. They will replace it but it will take 4 to 6 weeks to get new ones in.
So exciting about new classes locally. Wish I lived there, but I'm in Arizona. 😔

CraftStash was so quick to respond. I don’t mind waiting. I’m originally from West Virginia and we don’t take “things” sitting down and immediately I figured I’d try Gorilla Glue on my broken template. I put all the pieces back together and dabbed the glue on the cracks. I checked it this morning, held it up (glue isn’t very pretty) and it’s holding together. If this doesn’t work, I’ll tape it and be gentle 😂. God bless you and your family ❤

So glad you are getting back in front of "real people" in a classroom and with a kiln! Yay for you!! I was swatching new art supplies with you today! Yippee! I got some Sennelier paints (my first professional watercolors in an 18 set with 9 extra colors-Woohoo), some acrylic inks and a full set of the Neocolor IIs. So, so exciting! I am signed up for 2 of your watercolor classes, so I decided it was time to take the professional dive into watercolors! I hope your new in-person classes are overflowing (I am sure they will be!) and I hope you have to plan years ahead to accommodate the demand! Onward and upward Lindsay! To new adventures! I am so sorry to read about your stencil issue. I was really on the fence with getting them, as I loved them but by the time the shipping was added to get them to me it would be over $50 (plus taxes and duties a possibility added to that.) I just couldn't swing it. But it looked like such a wonderful and well-thought-out product, so I was going to see how things go. I see now they are out of stock - probably because they are replacing many of them. I am sure that no one would ever hold it against you, but I know you are so consiencious and it hurts. I hope your dad is on the mend soon, too. Life is really busy and hard sometimes. I hope you have a better week ahead. Your projects are always delightful and these new ones are no different. Take care.

I bought some stamps in the recent past from a couple of small online sellers after doing an search for "nature, woodland, botanical" something like that. These are independent small businesses and they have designs that are really unique. I really like supporting the small & micro-businesses and they really appreciate it. When you look through their offerings, you will find designs that are not the mass-marketed designs, but are just out of an artist's head. They don't have cheap prices, but they're not overpriced either. Some are wood-mounted, some are clear. My preference is actually the rubber stamps w/foam mounting. That way you can easily use your acrylic blocks or stamp positioners. I don't even buy a lot of stamps on a regular basis. And while I may buy the big brand names, I'm gonna try to look at the small sellers more often and give them a shot too.
I would love to take an in person class. especially with you. I would love it if you would do a watercolor retreat in Maine. It is my favorite place to vacation
My Universal Template arrived also cracked in half and also some little pieces. It was mailed in a bubble wrapper. I contacted the company and they assured me they will send out a replacement as soon as they get them in stock. Hopefully the packaging will be improved. Still happy to get. one.

Mine was the same- but the bubble wrap had no actual bubbles left in it. I’m getting the replacement too. By the time it come I’ll probably forget and be surprised! So a future surprise isn’t bad !😂 the company was quick to reply and so nice about it.

The pumpkins for the upcoming class are really pretty. I was very surprised to learn after I got my new laptop that Zoom is not compatible with the system unless I eliminate safeties on it. It's very disappointing, but at least I can sign up for classes and watch the UA-cam replay.

I agree that a weekly class can help you be regular with your art. About 20 years ago I attended a weekly oil painting class. Students brought their own canvas and brushes, and the instructor supplied the paint, solvent and instruction. There were specific projects he would give to beginners, but then we would each bring our own projects to work on in the classroom and he’d help and advise the students when they needed it. It was a low-key, calm atmosphere where you could visit with fellow artists as you worked or just quietly paint if that was your preference. For me a large part of the value was that it kept me painting at least once a week.

Good morning! Hope your dad is soon on the mend! I took the Michael's class with the fountain, and I agree: a smaller picture would likely be more doable in the time allowed (although I really enjoyed working at the faster pace- I like challenges LOL!) I'll be keeping an eye out for the November class- I could use some help getting more comfortable with the Graphitint. Have a better week Lindsay- thank you for all that you do!!
Hullo Lindsay, a lovely SatChat so far! I was never able to make the switch to online class creation. I did record a class that I did at our local library, but editing just made me crazy! You have been able to create videos that are not only fun to watch, but easy to follow your instructions to create truly amazing art pieces! Quality content from even your SatChat videos! You are truly inspirational and well just fun to spend a little spot of time with! This is a gift or talent despite the belief of some people that talents do not exist, they certainly do! I do not believe that someone needs a talent to be successful, yet hard work and dedication will do the job! I believe that everyone can paint, even learn to create a picture that perhaps was never a real place! Yet Picasso created ways of working that had never been done before. I believe that this does take talent and belief in your own personal talent to bring it into the world! Van Goth painted picture after picture and spent time in an asylum for his belief in himself and his vision of the world. Today he is revered and yet he only sold one painting in his life! Well enough soap box today. I often wonder if anyone remembers how that expression came to be? Sending you positive thoughts and energy to your Dad and your family too! So sorry you had a tough week. Good thing, it is almost over. Art is a great therapy to manage anxiety and stress, at least for me. I am shopping from my shelves mostly and have made wonderful finds. I had so much stuff Indidnt remember I had. Iy got me thinking, I should do an "inventory" every year, just like shops do, to remind myself of everything that is hidden in my drawers and shelves.😂😂😂

Just the thought the you might not always be on UA-cam made my heart hurt. But, being able to teach in person must be quite exciting to you. If I lived close, I'd be in every class! Best wishes to your dad. That stress is so personal and heartbreaking, too. He has a lot of struggles without adding more. I lost my dad to cancer while i was still incollege, and regret that he never got to see me as a functioning, mature adult! Better days ahead for all of you! How's your European student daughter doing?? Great, im sure. What an adventure for her!!!
I think in-person contact is almost always better than online. At the same time, what would we all do if not for online videos for tutorials, sharing info, etc? Will YT ever go away? I don't think in my lifetime (I'm 67) but it could. Death & taxes, the only permanent things, right?😮

I received my template (sadly it was not intact) the customer service was prompt and I elected to try another delivery. I definitely know some things can be out of our hands once in the mail. I'm still excited for it when I get a usable one. 😊

Your ideas for a in-person class sounds great! You need to find a balance for yourself that you are the happiest with. Now that you are not so busy with children you can get back to an in-person class and enjoy it.

I think that the problem with any business including You Tube is that as a business owner, we go into it with a dream in mind. We have a picture in our minds as to what we want to do/sell. But, our income depends on what the consumers want…not necessarily what or how we want things to run….at least initially. Look at musicians who recorded nothing but hard rock because that’s what the consumers wanted. They made their money that way. But many of them were trained in classical music and that is where their hearts were all along. Once they made their money, they would cut a record that was a ballad or similar that showcased their beautiful voices. That’s life. That’s reality. We all want to do things to showcase our talents but if we create something initially that catches the populace’s eye, that becomes a stamp on their memory and that is what they look for from that point onward.
In your case Lindsay, though you don’t think of yourself as a card maker, that’s what caught my attention because I love your cards. They are original. Then, you started showing us how to make the supplies in a DIY fashion…the frugal crafter…that got me hooked. When you started doing mostly watercolors and reviews of water colors, honestly, I lost interest because my brain is still glued to the idea of the Frugal Crafter. I did try water coloring, but acrylics are so much easier for me. That’s not to say that there aren’t people who are interested in water coloring…but that was the changing of the guard with your channel. There’s nothing wrong with that.
So, I watch your card videos and Sat Chat. I am still subscribed. I love your bubbly personality. But, you need to be you wherever that might lead you. I turned seventy this year. Believe me…the decades fly by so quickly. Don’t have regrets because you want to do you. Get out there and be you because the world needs you as you!
Continued prayers for your father. 🙏🏻 We had a business that was paid by the railroads to receive old railroad ties. The business plan was to shred them and sell them as mulch. It wasn’t profitable and “mysteriously” it burned down. 🙄 Terrible air quality and it was adjacent to a Cibil War Battlefield. Luckily, no casualties or dage to anything else and supposedly being investigated for arson and insurance fraud.

Oooh, I hope you get to interview Justine Hovey. I'm sure it's not easy co-ordinating times since she's in Europe. I saw her "Is this the end of cardmaking?" video and was happy to hear she doesn't think so. Like you, Justine encourages us to use what we have, plus she also designs for Craft Stash so you two have a lot in common! I hope it works out and you're able to interview her. I like her upbeat and happy personality ~ just like yours!

I definitely felt like the Michael’s class fountain painting was super fast. I also thought it was hindering to not have the reference photo. That is something I wish could be included. I love all your classes and videos. I’m definitely sad that the class will be 15 November because I have a spinal injection that day. Praying for you and your family 😊

All the wildfires in So Cal have been keeping me indoors even though the weather has finally started cooling down a tiny bit. Ugh, the Instagram algorithm, I hate the change SO much. I used to find so many cool new artists during MerMay and Inktober. Now I just use it to archive my paintings. But I’m not sure I’ll even do that, if they use what we post for AI. Sadly I had to pause Inktober for now. 3 drawings in 3 days made my hand pain flare up to unbearable levels. 😢

The hierarchy just feed us stories! The world is a mess! Nothing is recycled( in my view)! The world is just a huge dustbin! That is my view and I am not taken in by the hierarchy. I got my CraftStash SketchbookFloozy 12x12 universal template 2 days ago. It was cracked in over 6 places. it was shipped in just a padded envelope. I emailed them about the damage with pictures. I bought it for myself so no problem waiting for replacement. Hope they pack it better with the replacement.

I hate the algorithm with all my heart, its one of the things that most have destroyed the "old" vibes of the youtubbers, twitters and bloggers, social media in general. I follow those I am interested in seeing, I WILL come and see your videos no matter what the algorithm keeps putting in my path because I am interested in hearing and seeing you. Ok, maybe a week later because I get distracted by bothersome real life work (uppps I got caught, LOL) but I will end up here at some point. I am pretty sure there are many of us like that. I enjoy listening to you chat while I do artsy stuff. And yours is one of the few social media voices my boyfriend recognises immediately LOL. He comes behind me and says "oh heard you were listening to Lindsay again, want some tea?" He calls you along with Tim Holtz and Finnabair the "Santísima Trinidad del Crafting", been hearing you three for years now. x-D You look that up in Spanish and have a laugh.

That Paul Rubens watercolor tin is too cute! I took a look at the pigment/color list and noticed that it has PO49 in two of the greens, and PY153 for the Gamboge. Knowing that those are fairly coveted discontinued pigments, I have my doubts about whether that pigment info is accurate-any insights?
I think these are the same as another set they have. I'm not sure if that pigment being correct, but they use it in the other set that I think is the same.

So sad- I received my universal stencil yesterday and it was broken. 😢
I sincerely hope your dad is doing better. So frustrating for him, and I know you are all worried. Sending healing karma vibes. Here’s your chocolate truffle- my universal template arrived in one piece! But I honestly dont know how, because the packaging was Not. Good. It was a thin bubble mailer without any reinforcing. What might have saved mine was that I also ordered two smaller sets and they may have helped stiffen the package. Plus I am on the East Coast and it only had to go through 4-5 touches by USPS. I hope the in-person classes work out for you- that sounds like it could be really good! I have noticed several artists are posting their Inktober art on their YT community pages - probably easier to find than on Instagram. I can’t wait for the graphitint pumpkins! I love painting pumpkins! Hope next week is better for you. I’m off to buff the Dorlands wax on my Christmas cards- all finished. They were slow- did them in watercolor pencil for an old book illustration look. Very pleased because I actually made a dint in some of my Museum Aquarelle pencils. Proud of myself for not saving them anymore.
