What's your favorite creature from Asian Folklore? For what creature / monster would you like to see a separate video?
Thank you for the video! Asakku sounds promising :)
Bruce lee green hornet
I'd like to see something on yakshas as they were in the video's description but not in the video.
@@HauntedMushroom96 Yes they were on the initial list but was removed. I removed it now also from the description. Sorry.
@@MythosTheHistorian its fine. Im just curious if they'd be featured in a separate video
FACT: Some of the mythical beings featured in this video provided the inspiration for many of the Pokémon in the game franchise.
That baby moster is pretty much any baby.
Hey, my nephews are both toddlers and I'll have you know that....oh wait, never mind, you're right 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Demon baby. Human impregnate by a demon, or baby possesed by demon.
I would say it's the embodiment of everyone since we all start out as babies and become bigger monsters as we grow.
I got demon kids you not lying lol
If I remember correctly the giant fish one inspired the creature the gives you the quake medallion in the super Nintendo version of the legend of Zelda... The fact that you usually throw a rock into the circle of rocks that stick out of the water it resides in is quite fitting to the lore...
I'm surprised you found out about the Ekek from our ilocano myths and legends which are barely taught in our schools nowadays like our other filipino myths
Anything can be found on the internet
I found couple of hundreds mythical creatures from Asia (of course over the internet :) ) and I chose both famous ones and others that I found interesting. Ekek was among the creatures that caught my attention
The high quality visuals though...are they all AI art? What app is it?
You are my newest favorite UA-camr! 🖤🤍♥️
Thanks m8! Not all of them are AI art. And for AI art I don't use a particular app I use several like: Fotor Craiyon, Starry Ai, DALLE-E and upscaling programs also. :)
Heard u guys have an island called NAGA?
Any local stories? Thanks 🙏
Would cool to see you cover gods & monsters from Aztec mythology!
soon! :)
Cool!
Congratulations on creating an amazing UA-cam video! Your hard work and creativity really shine through in every frame. The way you presented the content was so clear and easy to understand. I was truly captivated from start to finish. Your talent for engaging viewers is incredible. Keep up the fantastic work and know that you have a dedicated fan here who can't wait to see what you create next!
Thanks for mentioning these. It is high time other mythical creatures have thier day and live and not the usual well known types.....others need to live too.
I swear I hear more vampire like monsters in Asia than any were else
10:48 According to Japanese folklore...the 'Child of Dirt/hammer', Tsuchinoko is shy, will hide and wriggle like a worm, can jump 3 feet in the air and has viper venom that is super toxic, can glide and it can squeak and chirp....I must say, this little guy is cute.
That's the best description and study of Nagas
Next to vampires, mummies, and mimes, nagas are my favorite creatures and deserve the love and respect they need
You seen their depiction in world of warcraft? always thought their design was cool
@@RealElequist
If it’s a video game then no
I don’t know how to use the devices to play, one time I tried, I got painfully confused
(Plus I couldn’t afford it at a young age and… nobody has ever taught me how to)
@@CBMOA try google images of "world of warcraft naga" just to see what they look like
I finally understand the fire creature as a Pixiu in Tsubasa Reservoir chronicles as The main male lead was a former archeologist and gathers magical feathers across dimensions
I'm quite impressed at your Japanese pronunciations, for the most part...I know that unless you're a native speaker, a lot of Asian languages can be difficult to pronounce on the fly. Though I will point out that the Tsuchinoko's name is in fact pronounced with a soft "ch," as the "k" pronunciation of that syllable doesn't occur in the language. It's "tsoo-chee-no-ko," not "tsoo-kee-no-ko". Still, the fact that you actually pronounced "kitsune" properly immediately puts you miles ahead of a lot of folks who try to do these kinds of videos, in my opinion.
Thank you! :)
Asian words are spelled the way they're pronounced.. Don't get me started on French
@@defjam137 Eh, _Japanese_ is mostly spelled the way it's pronounced when transliterated to Romaji. Not so much for some Asian languages, especially tonal ones like Mandarin. I'm in the midst of working my way through the translated Módào Zǔshī novels, and looking at the pronunciation guide each book has for the names and such sometimes makes my eyes cross.
Plus, despite Japanese typically transliterating in a way that should make its pronunciation clear, I've seen far, far too many videos like this one where the narrators can't even manage the simple names. I've far, far too often heard UA-camrs who will pronounce "kitsune" as "kit-soon," or "biwa" as "bai-wah," or a whole host of other linguistic crimes. And those weren't even the one with the blatant "I fed this to an AI to read" narration, which did things like turn the yokai "Aka-manto" into "A.K.A. Manto."
Also, if you want to talk about linguistic "who the hell authorized this?!" alphabet salads, try Gaelige. I love studying mythology of all sorts, but I have long since given up trying to learn how to say some of the names in Irish myth.
@@defjam137French isn’t that hard
Excellent video. Discovered many lesser known creatures today
Love these human-animal hybrids. Naga, barong, garuda, rakshasa. Interesting visuals and intriguing. Would love to see games and other media use them more often.
Nice work. I love stuff like this.
there are various 'naga' like cryptids throughout the world. Many of the mythologies about these people also depict them as having their own kingdom...
Wonderfully told ! Nice job guys!
6:30
Indonesian Narnia!!!!!!
Love this video. We have many mythical creatures in Filipino folklore.
Baku....interesting. A Sandman of any magical world....
Thank you for all the information I knew some but not all
Thanks such excellent narration and art❤
Good video. Would kike to see you tackling creatures of Iberian/Spanish folklore and mythology.
Noted. Tomorrow will be something related :)
Do a video for Slavic mythology pls love your videos ❤
I have an older video about slavic creatures: ua-cam.com/video/pLiUyAaK98E/v-deo.html
I'm surprised you didnt cover the Hannya or Kijo as well. They're quite popular. But awesome video with those you covered!
❤🤍💙 all your videos mate👍
thanks for sharing.....I like Senku....the bird martial arts instructor....that is interesting. I must say, that creature that causes illnesses and diseases is quite scary.
Hallo..my friend and team ..awsome..happy explore...
INTERESANT
Newly subscribed ❤❤❤ Good job! 🤜🤛
Welcome aboard!
There are more creatures that Filipino believed as well as spirit. Tengu and ryu of Japan is the same with the Philippines Bakunawa( dragon) and Wakwak
Amazing vid !
Glad you enjoyed it
Love these videos! It is so interesting to see how different cultures from around the world have similar creatures in their lore. Harpies, changelings, goblins, hybrid creatures, etc.
Fun fact, Tsuchinoko literally means child of soil. And bakeneko literally means ghost cat.
Jinns are also described to be the cause when going crazy in Arabic. They are referenced quite extensively in sentences relating to madness. For instance, "did you go crazy" is when translated from arabic literally "did you jinn?
Keep up the good work and thank you! ❤
Thank you! And thank you for the extra-details! Cheers!
beautiful artwork. beautiful folklore. yaksha is missing
Knew a lot . Learned a lot. 👍👾
Entertaining video.
you found some fantastic art.... i wonder if we get the phrase/term "foxy lady" from the KITSUNE ???
Shahmaran could also have been on the list but cool content
Interesting.
Oh i love it. You mention barong and rangda, it is so so good to see it. I like barong and rangda they both seem like lion but more spiritual. I would like to see story of barong and rangda tell by you.
Are there any Filipino folklore creatures that don't eat unborn babies?
There are...like the Dewende, which are comaprable to Gnomes in western mythologies...they are said to reside on ant hills or termite mound and curses people that disturbs their dwellings or travellers that didnt give the proper respect when passing through their territory...but they can also be helpful, giving blessings and luck to people who gives them offerings in exchange...There are a lot more like the giant like Kapre or the benevolent and elf like Diwata...
The main reason for a lot of creatures here in the Philippines having a penchant for babies and pregnant women is because people uses it as causes and explinations for miscarriges and still births...and also the idea that babies are the purest and cleanest soul and flesh in existence, hense why monstrous creatures seek them out to consume...
There's are lot bruh....
But this channel showcase only widely known creature folklore
Who feared alot of pilipinos
It eats human flesh what you expect
Or attack pregnant women 😭
My favorite are the kitsune from Japan I love foxes
wait i thought that kitsune were from chinese myth before it got adopted and popularise by japan
@@deharca88 in China they are more or less demons but in Japan they are closer to be gods and goddess
Background music name pls.
I'm stronger than any of those. Bring it on!
@9:22 there's two Lamassu. 1 has claws the other hooves. Why was there a difference? Any similarity to the Chinese (Yin & Yang) Fu Dogs?
Aswang, tyanak and mananangal tikbalang,Ekek is the most known every place in phil
And feared alot when night time
I think they are all beautiful creatures and they all are different to each it’s own and beauty is in the eye of the beholder❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥
11:11 MVP THERE!
I would have liked to have seen Gumiho.
1:45 So then is Folklore and Mythology the same thing?
I'm extremely new to all this stuff.
Guild Wars got a lot correct!
Baku is basically a tapir
Baku is a tapir, as well as a kitsune means a regular fox, too. Those names mean both fictional and real.
I learned all the Japanese ones from the video game Okami apparently!
May I know the different between RYU and TIANLONG? Are they the other type of serpents like NAGA and LONGMA?
can you do creatures and monster of caribbean folklore
It's on my list!
I have the japanese foo dog, oni samurai, and hannya. I also have the cambodian foo dog, Water Nymph aka Apsara, and the 7 headed naga.
Not sure, maybe all of them
You had a lot of creatures mentioned, but you missed Shahmaran from Turkish-Iranian folklore.
the Longma and the Quilinn creatures sound very similar
Oh sorry everyone but I think I have a crush with Garuda❤
Look at all the creatures featured in the Final Fantasy franchise~
Jinn are a VERY broad category, with ghoul being a subgroup of Jinn.
Jedi master Oppo Rancissus is one of the Naga.
All eastasian countries have their own version of the Kitsune.
I have heard of Oni being portrayed with no face at all, but that might have been a different creature or even something out of modern japanese horror.
I think you got the "ekek" wrong.. must be "tiktik"or "wakwak"... But all in all nice video bro
It must be a regional variation of Wakwak. Here in the province, we use the term Wakwak but I've also heard someone else i know call it Ik-ik. So they might be referring to it
No Tanuki?
the drawing at early this clip are very nice...who the artis////
Thanks! Me!
It's pronounced "ek-ek", not as one word.
In the Visayas we Kikik pronounce as one word. It's a raven like bird that is usually associated with the signs of Bad Omens to come.
It's also said to be a common familiar for maleficent witches.
Where is phim nyuj vais aka predator
I do like your content so far, but oh, is it sometimes annoying that you can’t say some of the names right
Nimona was a Kitsune
One more thing common in asian gods like almost all of the gods in Asia wear Gold like see Chinese gods, Ja and Indian Gods for example also Chinese and Indians pray a monkey like god called Sun Wukong and Hanuman
Oni literally mean demon
I fear no man but the Filipino folklore they scare me
❤ why do dragons have red eyes bit baias❤
The naga is the dragon of Cambodia was sad to be a long serpentine dragon with a Snake body
What is a cannibow
I don't know
But I'm down with the clown
And I'm down for life, yo! 🤪
If you're talking about the weapon he mentions that oni carry, it's a kanabo, the most common depiction of which is a thick, shorter staff studded with iron spikes or knobs. Sometimes, it's also shaped somewhat like a longer, thicker baseball bat, the thicker end wrapped in iron and studded. Big, nasty, smashy clubs.
@@Mokiefraggle thx
Sound like gene splicing gone wrong
Maybe I'm not really religious... cuz I've never heard of a naga having human body 😅
Godzilla?
This dude explain who an what Lucifer is smoke and fire a Jenn it all makes sense God was blessed divine not discriminate did not give up on all creations like efreets or KINNARI wow hmm an you SEE
I wonder where you got your research from regarding those Philippine Mythological creatures.
It's not EKEK, it is IK-IK or TIK-TIK named based on the sound it makes. The bird isn't the monster at all, IK-IKs are birds owned by ASWANGS tasked to monitor its prey and bring information. When you hear the bird's sound, it means an ASWANG is around. When the sound seems to be loud, it means the ASWANG is far from you. When you hear it low, it means the ASWANG is very near.
TIYANAK is not a winged creature. It does not fly at all.
TIKBALANG's main ability is it can make people lose their way in the forests. Once a Tikbalang played on you, you won't be able to find your way out. You will always end up going back to the same place making you lost in reality for days. To fight a TIKBALANG's spell, you must take off your clothes and wear then inside out.
It is also said that if you managed to fight off a tikbalang and get strands of its hair, it will make the Tikbalang your servant.
Though majority of the Filipino does not believe in them, I can say they are real. They exist. Many can attest to their existence. My mother, my sister, my brother's wife, my cousin's wife, my neighbor, got visited by ASWANGS during their pregnancy. My mother and my sister lost their babies during the early stage because of ASWANGS.
Out of all, I can MANANANGGAL is the one that is not real. It's pure myth.
Ekek, must be called Eek-eek, or Ehk-ehk.
ik-ik / eek-eek not ekek 😂😂😂😂
Mananaggal or penanggal in malay and Filipino is not a mythical creature but a human that possess black magic often a woman!!
Kitsune the fruit in blox fruits.Guys its a joke
The only real jinn and iffrit.
All of them can fall under the word Jinn. It just means demon. Every culture have their own definition but the concept is the same. There were plenty more of them than us humans. Just some have abilities to disrupt the realms other than theirs.
Garuda has an evil counterpart in Filipino culture.
It sounds like everything in Filipino mythology is evil 😮
Seems like being pregnant in filiphin is rather dangerous
Asians have folklore?
Huh? Is that a joke?
He lives in another universe maybe lol
Shocking, I know.
Hello I'm a jinn 👹I will curse you 😮😮
WEEBS
It's pronounced
naa · guh
Not
Na · Ga
Come on man if you going to make a video at least do some research or like listen to the word before just reading it and pronouncing it
