Hat’s off to you Gavin! First rate stuff. I greatly appreciate you and your channel. Your reviews were instrumental in helping me make my recent generator purchase.
Wow nice tracker a parts list and where you got them would be great. Keep up the good work. PS. Yes very interested in seeing a daily input with the tracker vs stationary panel
Pretty cool, I'm building something similar. Mine uses solar azimuth and elevation knowledge though, so it doesn't require any light sensors and always achieves perfect tracking.
Nice work on your DIY tracker. Interested to see how well the solar tracker Electronics work long-term. I have been considering buying one and testing it here on my total off-grid property. I have four large solar trackers that produce all my power here totally off grid. A solid solar tracking controller is a must-have thanks for sharing.

Nice job and it seems to work well. I just have an aversion to added complexity and mechanical failure. Could a couple of more eastward and westwardly facing panels in addition to thee main array accomplish similar performance without the moving parts? Solar panels are relatively cheap.
Nice portable unit.. I recently installed the Ecoworthy Dual axis tracker. Then I switched out Two 400w panels with Six 200w bifacial panels. I have one of my security cameras pointing at it.. so I can monitor it's movement during the day. I'm a OTR trucker so I'm gone for weeks at a time. Wanna get another one for my 2nd array too. I put one of them 400w panels to work keeping my Ecoflow Delta 1300 charged when I need it. lol.. I use it for my washer and dryer..
Very nice Job. I'm looking into something similar with wheels also. You mentioned wind, but not rain, so I'll need one that has a Tarp above it that will release when the windshield rain sensor detects moisture or better yet, a modified robo vacuum that the sensor tells to automatically take it under the Patio Cover!👍
IDEA: EcoFlow's are being shipped with the 160watt or 400watt option. If you had a little low-cost solar tracker that only does the latitude angle so that a floppy blanket style panel could seek the best angle, I bet those would sell. Many people just want to set this up after power outage or when camping and don't want a heavy machine to lug around.
Excellent video that idea is pure genius wondering if you're going to do a how to video And where we can get the part I would love to duplicate this if you don't mind

Btw, the ecoflow delta pro is awesome...can u tell me where i can get the plug for the ANDERSON PORT that has a ring terminal? I’m trying to use this port to power the fuse box for my van conversion....thanks
Looks great! How did you determine the watt limit to be 1.5? About the only place on my property that has decent sun is a roof top. What problems would I have setting a tracker on a roof?
This video is awesome. I'd Ike to have two of these with maxed out panels .. You are a awesome teacher. 2 trackers with 1500-2000 WATTS per tracker possible?
What is the total wattage of your small panels used to charge the lead acid battery? Are you using a charge controller between those panels and the batttery?
Do you think if possible you used a 24” inch on your stroke would it be more sufficient and get more then 180% horizontal turn or would the long stroke wouldn’t help at all.
@Gavinsgarage I never had a solar panel before. My understanding is that they pull at least 80 percent of the rating. Is that certain panels or was it because the time of day. Your listed rating was 435 watts and the reading said somewhere near the low 200s. Was this a old or recycle. I have no clue except for watching videos. I need details.
Hey Lamar That’s just because of the time of the day I think it was right at 8 o’clock when I shot this video this particular panel actually puts out its rated watts in full sun ☀️
Hi Gavin Sorry to keep asking questions but got one more if you don't mind. The wheel hub/bearing that you used. Did you leave some of the drive shaft /axle on the hub to give the bearings some more stability?.
Pretty sweet setup. Thanks for sharing. Other power stations only accept solar panels from their own brand. Nice to see Ecoflow made the Delta Pro accept other solar panels.
Couple of questions: How many degrees in the horizontal plane can your tracker rotate? Looking at the design it must be something less than 180 degrees, is that enough? Second question is could you post a picture of the actuator label, I can't find one that looks that nice. Great job Gavin!
The degrees on the Horizontal plane is around 160 degrees anymore and the actuator will be damaged by over spinning. On the vertical I can get 90 degrees
What are the part names and any links where you purchased them. I'm trying to build my first ever tracker.... Thanks for this video and all information.
This panel can put out close to 100 watts ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxOqI2yqX0XVrhR2BMJciTWrHJpG8FhJyg when positioned in the appropriate southernly direction, tilted to the optimal angle for your latitude/date, and connected to a higher capacity device than a 500. The built in kickstand angle is a fixed at 50 degrees. Up to 20% more power can be output by selecting the actual date and latitude optimal angle. The 500 will only input 3.5A maximum at 18 volts for 63 watts. Some of the excess power from the panel can be fed into a USB battery bank, charged directly from the panel while also charging a 500. This will allow you to harvest as much as 63 + 15 = 78 watts. If this panel is used to charge a larger device, such as the power station, then its full output potential can be realized.
I watch you video over & over again l like you way you came up with a easy way to track the sun ? But 😮can’t figured out how you made horizontal actuator turn 180 with out breaking it or bending it all to hell! I see the bearing axle how it would rotate but actuator shouldn’t rotate there made to push and pull not to rotate.
Using the 90° location in the front then I measured how many inches off the center mast which was 6 inches that causes the solar panels to rotate 180° without binding.🤓
Small things like the capability to connect other solar panels is a very big deal for me. I would still be able to use my old panels rather then storing them.

Probably 3 unit because I can fit about 1.5kw of solar on each tracker.

The wattage of each panel is 5 W and I’m using a small waterproof charge controller. It keeps the battery at 100%.
Hi this is Dave again I forgot to put in a question about how long is the stroke on your linear actuator? Thanks
Hey Dave, so this is a 12/24 VDC 750 pounds max stroke length 18 inches travel speed 0.2 in./s
Do you think if possible you used a 24” inch on your stroke would it be more sufficient and get more then 180% horizontal turn or would the long stroke wouldn’t help at all.

How did you know where to mount the actuators (they have a certain protrusion length)?
How much was the tracker controller?
It was trial and error with positioning the actuators, the tracker controller I got it off eBay I think it was right about $120.
@@GeneratorReviews Kudos! I se the controller is a WST03-2.
Do you have any movement on that seal bearing? like if you shake you solar panel ? And do think it would hold up to 4 panels
Zero movement on the seal bearing this is a wheel bearing designed to hold up a cargo trailer, so six panels, eight panels I don’t see an issue.
Nice job bro’ could you do a grid tie on your tracker
