    I used Marval Mystery oil soaked it for 3 days and used Qtips to scrud the valve leak area and finished it off with brake cleaner. Mine was slightly stuck open. 2000 toyota camry with original spark plugs i paid 200 bucks for the car. I love it. Next Spark plugs.

    Okay I had the P1400 code and really find it hard to remove the housing of the heat sensor. So what I did was just to remove the heat sensor itself without the needed fabricated socket wrench, sure heat sensor must not be tightened too hard, just an open wrench will do. Cleaned the dirty heat sensor, used wire and air pressure to clean the base as much it can reach. Now my Infiniti 130 is clear and pass smog test this week. Thanks for your vlog. Just great.

    Great video, I've been getting a funny idle lately so I wanted to kind of process of elimination the car and pop the air box, throttle body and MAF off and the idle air control valve. And the EGR valve and tube and just inspect and clean it all at the same time and put it back together, but I couldn't find a good video for the valve and tube. Thanks man great video.

    Nice Video. My vehicle was stumbling and dying. I had a P0174 code leaning out Bank 2 as well as a P0400. After a ton of work and watching videos, I determined the MAF sensor was misreporting air flow, so I replaced the MAF. Also, I cleaned my tube out. Was plugged just like yours. I did not remove the EGR. That tube was really fun to get out. UGH!!! Clean Sensor and tested Solenoid. Applied 12v and could hear it clicking. Checked for Vacuum at the hose on top of EGR and got vacuum as I revved up. Felt the diaphragm as I revved up and could feel the EGR diaphragm move. Cleared codes and vehicle ran fine. No more stumbling and I thought I was home free. However as soon as all the system monitors were ready it through a P0400 again. That tube connects to the EWGR valve "Spacer Block" I wonder if something in there is Blocked. What are your thoughts? Deeply appreciated.

    • @GarageKing
      @GarageKing  3 роки тому +2

      Hey there and thanks for the detailed comment !!!! I know all about taking that tube out, lots of fun haha!!! The spacer block is definitely a possibility. I know when I took the EGR out it was kind of clogged up on the right side (when you are looking at it from the side of the engine) that's the part that has those bigger threads on it, there was quite a bit of crud in there. I poured a bunch of carbon cleaner in there and cycled the egr up and down with my fingers. This code could be the result of any carbon blockage anywhere in the EGR path so its important to clean it all out everywhere. Taking out that EGR was a pain in the butt as you have to be careful with that big threaded part. Also if you have a sticky EGR valve it can cause that code. I'm not sure if taking the EGR out and giving it a really good cleaning helped, but I basically just cleaned everything out and then afterwards it was good. Its too bad these engines are not a little easier to work on........

      @@GarageKing Thank you so much for responding so quickly. I just went ahead and removed the EGR. Some gunk in it but I wouldn't say it was clogged up like that tube was. Gases should have been able to pass. I cleaned it up real good and try to spray back into that spacer block the EGR valve bolts to.. After all, as you know, that is where that bottom of that riser tube is bolted up, (the spacer block). I want to now test the EGR valve with a hand pump vacuum tester to see if it holds vacuum. I almost feel like the EGR pentel could have been stuck, until I freed it by pushing up the Diaphragm with my fingers. In any event, I cleaned it all up. Only thing I haven't tested is the ohms of resistance on the EGR Tube Temp sensor, but I cleaned it good too. so after I get it all back together, I will let you know the results. Thanks again.

      @@jefftravis5312 Good call with the EGR pintle, it could be sticky, when I cleaned mine I soaked part of the internal slide (you can see it when you look through that rear hole) I would test it with a vacuum pump like I did as you never know. Also check that short piece of rubber hose that is connected to the steel line that runs to the EGR to make sure there is no small tear in it. I know these things are a pain, but it sure feels good when you get it fixed !!!!

      For this video I used multiple tripods. I have a taller one for a full engine shot, and smaller ones that I place around the engine for close ups. I also have a clamp one that I attach to the underside of the hood/bonnet so for these bigger repairs it’s a lot of different shots and angles. I probably had about 60 short clips that I imported into FCP and then made this video. These ones take a lot so I only do big ones like these every now and then as they are pretty time consuming. These ones are great ones for people learning to fix their cars. Not many know just how much editing goes into these ones. Thanks for the comment :)

    Was that a okay price and are they good reliable daily drivers
    It's currently in the shop it would shut down while driving or at a stop
    It was not a gas pump or fual lines
    They told.me the mass airflow made it do this

      Hey There, and sorry for the late reply, in your comment you wrote "told.me" and UA-cam flagged it as an external website that could be dangerous, so your comment was not published. If there was no period it would be ok, but the period made youtube think its a website. OK, enough of that. Yes the mass airflow sensor can make your car shut down.

    I have a 4th Gen Maxima with Electronic EGR. There are currently no Trouble Codes but the engine would hesitate around 2,300 rpm unless you step more on the accelerator then only it would rev up. Could it be caused by a clogged EGR?

    • @GarageKing
      @GarageKing  2 роки тому

      That clogged EGR can cause a number of problems. Normally on the Nissan the EGR itself is not clogged, but its the tube that goes to the intake that gets clogged. I know they can cause weird things to happen, even hard starting, so I would say its possible it could be causing your engine trouble.

    Hi. I've got an unmodified 1998 Nissan Pathfinder, 164,000 miles, 3.3L V6, 5 speed automatic transmission. Owned by an elderly couple...treated well.
    10w-30 oil/filter is new and full. Same with transmission fluid.
    When it's first started it knocks or loudly rattles for 3 seconds. Then it stops. Once warm it will only do the startup rattle about 50% of the time. Exact same noise returns from about 1,800 to 3,200 RPM and then stops. Also, the noise quiets and sometimes disappears between 1,800 - 3,200 RPM if I let off of the accelerator and coast. It also will not do it sometimes if I'm going up a steep hill slowly with the RPMs are in that midrange, under the hill's load.
    The noise increases in speed and loudness with increasing RPMs. It sounds like 1 or maybe 2 cylinders of the 6, to me.
    The main bearings and rod bearings were changed. Looked good, some rod bearing wear on a couple but not serious. No rod or crank shaft slop was noted before or after replacement. Made no difference in the noise. The crank was NOT sanded/polished.
    It throws a P1400 code for EGRC Solenoid Valve error. I don't notice any idling or power issues though. It returns within a few minutes after clearing the code. Could this cause a knocking noise at certain times like I have?
    I've narrowed it down to 5 things based on its part time occurrence:
    1. Flex plate?
    2. Timing belt tensioner failing (unknown when last changed)?
    3. Torque converter?
    4. Hydraulic lifters?
    5. EGRC Solenoid Valve?
    I have two short videos I recorded it and can share if you want to hear it. Thanks!
