    Thank you for putting out this content. I have been shipping glass items and got lucky up until a couple weeks ago when a southern living bell jar candle holder broke. Watching this video has helped me a lot! I'm getting ready to send a set of 6 champagne glasses and a set of 4 vintage fostoria glasses and I'm scared to death!!! I really appreciate this video. Thanks for your video. I have 2 Rogaska Champagne flutes and 24 pieces of Riedel (3 sizes) that I picked up at auction and I was determined to figure out the packing before I even list them! My first time shipping stemware; I usually avoid it! I have double-boxed glass, but this method seems very secure for these fragile items.

    I came across your video by chance. When I ship goblets I start with a soft tissue wrap. Next I cut dollar store pool noodles to wrap around the stem. Wrap with bubble wrap. Then I place a 1" pool noodle at the end of the stem and the rim and wrap again with packing paper. I love your idea of creating the partitions, I might start doing that. Thanks for an informative video.❤

    • @AvanteAvenue

      Thank you Terrie! You know, I was once afraid of packing and shipping fragile glasses and dishes. But when we went to sales, it seemed that glassware (and dishes) was the one category that other resellers didn’t want. So I decided to get over my fear and we started finding pieces to resell and I started packing it. Add to that, I decided that I would share how I do it so others could get over their fear too, just in case they have any. I’m sure there are people who say I overpack. But I say it’s not a good sale for me or a good deal for the buyer if it doesn’t arrive safely (and carriers are rough on things).
      It means a lot to to me read your comments of how my videos have been helpful in encouraging you! In addition to wrapping the glasses, add as much bubble wrap to the bottom and the top and around them as you can. And, yes you’ve got this! 🙂❤️👍

      Hi Carolyn, I truly feel for you. It happens to every seller at some point. Your comment is very timely as I'm releasing a video at noon today as to "Why I pack so well." I have lots of videos on packing fragile items in a playlist on our channel. Here's the link: ua-cam.com/play/PL1i7sYY19elMHs51na45rYT2lOK83ug-Q.html This is the "ALL pack & ship videos" but I've also broken my videos down by categories (bowls, glassware, etc). I hope you will find some of the videos helpful. Shipping fragile items is something that I was intimidated by for many years but finally decided to tackle it a few years ago. Have I had a few items break? Yes. Yes, I have. A platter which was my fault for not packing better and a lidded canister which was in a12x12x12 box with "score" lines built into that reduced it's strength. That one was an eye opener about the box I used (ebay box). Anyway, thank you for watching and commenting and hope you catch the video today about "Why I pack so well." Thank you Carolyn! Happy Sales to you....

    I love your pack and ship videos I have learned so much. Where do you purchase your unbranded boxes in the sizes in the video?

    • @AvanteAvenue
      @AvanteAvenue  3 роки тому +1

      Thank you! I’m glad they’re helping. As to my boxes, I’ve tried a few different brands that I found on the Internet. I’m still reluctant to share the source only because I’m not 100% satisfied yet for example, the 10 x 10 x 10 box I used in this video was fine but then I went to get another one yesterday and it was not folded properly. So, until I am sure that I have a good source I will simply suggest that you search Google for the size that you’re looking for and then look at Google shopping and also look at direct links to various manufacturers. I often find it easier for boxes to just go to Google or a search engine rather than eBay. I think you can find boxes cheaper a lot of times elsewhere. Sorry I can’t be more direct right now but I hope you understand. Thanks for asking.🙂❤️👍🦋

  • @ithappens11

    I apologize if this was reviewed, but why use the foam wrap at all on a wine or stemmed glass? It seems just the bubble wrap would do the job all by itself. It looks pretty, but I wonder if it has much efficiency.

    • @AvanteAvenue
      @AvanteAvenue  Рік тому

      It’s actually more helpful in warm and hot weather. If bubble wrap gets hot against glass, it can actually melt onto the glass and create a serious issue.
      We use it for that reason along with I prefer it over tissue paper to protect the finish on the item and for a professional appearance. It does not replace bubble wrap which is needed to help prevent breakage. Hope this helps. 🙂❤️👍

    Such a great video I just had to subscribe! I'm a new reseller who's nervous about shipping fragile/breakable items, but I really want to as it seems that's where the money is. Your video has helped me to feel more confident about selling these items. I wondered if you place fragile stickers on the box because I feel like that makes them throw it around and abuse the package more, and do you purchase insurance or is that covered in normal shipping costs?

    • @AvanteAvenue
      @AvanteAvenue  2 роки тому +2

      Hi Heather and welcome to our channel! Just to let you know, I have over 50 pack & ship videos in a playlist.
      Fragile stickers are for the buyer. It lets them know that I tried get the carriers attention. Do I believe that the carriers care about the Fragile label? Some will, and some won’t. Regardless of the label, fragile packages are handled no differently than any other package. That’s, why we have to pack it really really well.
      I only purchase extra insurance on expensive items. I just want to let you know that priority mail rarely pays out for damage claims, only if a package is not delivered. We use pirateship.com which is free and it will import Ebay sales and on occasion I buy additional insurance through them for expensive items. The cost is pretty nominal.

    I have martini glasses five of them to ship out. The bottom is skinny and the top is large. Will this technique work on martini glasses?

    • @AvanteAvenue
      @AvanteAvenue  3 роки тому +1

      I would use large bubble wrap to wrap the stem “before” adding additional layer (tissue/foam, large bubble wrap.) Sometimes I fold bubble wrap in half or cut a square in 1/2 and then wrap it around the stem. Try to make it wrapped until it comes pretty much equal with the rim of the cup.
      Fill the void in the cup part too. Martini glasses are typically pretty fragile. Make sure you don’t skimp on the bubble wrap and make sure you have about 2 inches of additional bubble wrap and protection around each one when you place them in the box. Focus on one glass at a time until you know you have it securely wrapped. Then do the others. Hope this helps and congrats on your sale!🙂❤️👍🍁

    I love the way you ship the glassware. I see no reason to write the info on the bottom when you can write it on the top and cover it with the label. I also add the weight because I can't remember it all the time. BTW, the ding on the wine glass DOES NOT mean it's crystal, according to Dr. Lori a licensed appraiser.

      @AvanteAvenue  Рік тому +1

      Thank you Sharon. Yes, I know about Dr. Lori’s take on Crystal and dinging the wine glass. Mark and I like the sound and have a good chuckle every time we ding it! I don’t print the labels. I package it and Mark takes the packages upstairs and weighs and prints the labels. Because I never know exactly where he’s going to place the label, and the priority boxes are so busy, I’ve always been in the habit of putting it on the bottom. Potato Patata it works either way. In addition to charging for shipping, I hope you're charging for the kitting. Also, you wrapped each glass with about $1.20 worth of bubble, tissue and tape. I would wrap each glass in split-corrugated cardboard, tape it around the glass,, wrap with small bubble and insert into the divider you made for the box. Cost for kitting parts are now $.34ea. Your time needs to be charged. So, add $6 to the suggested retail price of the shipping fee. I assume you get reseller shipping rates? Thanks for sharing your videos. You do you. As for me, the positive feedback
      I’ve received from thousands of buyers of fragile and other items I’ve shipped that arrived intact, speaks volumes.
      Considering that our homes are filled with products from China and the businesses we shop are filled with Chinese goods and China being one of the largest polluters on the planet, I hardly think how I pack my items to arrive safely, is something to be “disappointed” over.
