  • Thoughts Are Things
    by Henry Van Dyke
    I hold it true that thoughts are things;
    They're endowed with bodies and breath and wings;
    And that we send them forth to fill
    The world with good results, or ill.
    That which we call our secret thought
    Speeds forth to earth's remotest spot,
    Leaving its blessings or its woes
    Like tracks behind it as it goes.
    We build our future thought by thought,
    For good or ill, yet know it not.
    Yet, so the universe was wrought.
    Thought is another name for fate;
    Choose, then, thy destiny and wait,
    For love brings love and hate brings hate.

    Ella Wheeler Wilcox:
    “I hold it true that thoughts are things
    Endowed with bodies, breath, and wings,
    And that we send them forth to fill
    The world with good results - or ill.
    That which we call our secret thought
    Speeds to the earth's remotest spot,
    And leaves its blessings or its woes
    Like tracks behind it as it goes.
    It is God's law. Remember it
    In your still chamber as you sit
    With thoughts you would not dare have known,
    And yet made comrades when alone.
    These thoughts have life; and they will fly
    And leave their impress by-and-by,
    Like some marsh breeze, whose poisoned breath
    Breathes into homes its fevered breath.
    And after you have quite forgot
    Or all outgrown some vanished thought,
    Back to your mind to make its home,
    A dove or raven, it will come.
    Then let your secret thoughts be fair;
    They have a vital part and share
    In shaping worlds and moulding fate --
    God's system is so intricate.”

    Dear Brother, it is so good to see you back in action. I know well the thoughts are things poem, it was on my office door for many years. When I realize my thoughts are less than harmonious I take control of my mind by saying "these thoughts are not in my best interest or highest good." By saying this I quickly regain control of my mind. The mind is like a computer, garbage in ...garbage out. When it comes to any information I ask ..."how does this information serve me?" I came across the teachings of Lee Harris who has a mantra ..."I release any energies or emotions that are not mine." Using this mantra I've released energies that were impacting my life in a less than favorable way. I've said many times that our minds are the easiest and most difficult thing to control. When we can control and focus our mind we take control of our life. Thank you Brother Brian for coming back to the public forum. Our world is in transition, the direction it takes will largely depend on the direction of collective thought. The media has an interest in focusing our thoughts on a given narrative, they are using our thoughts against our own best interest. It is up to us as individuals to take control of our mind, our thoughts, and the direction of our lives and world.
    Thank you for being here. Me Ke Aloha.

      Mahalo, dear brother, for all you've offered. It is all well received and integrated. Plus, you just outlined our next conversation episode very nicely. From here on, I am making a very strong effort to keep all episides at 30 minutes or less, in an attempt to create more digestible wisdom nuggets for the tribe. Mālama Pono, my brother. Aloha Ka Kou.

      A couple of months ago I found myself telling a dear friend that I am hovering somewhere between Schopenhauer, Bukowski, and Diogenes. The misery of most philosophers gives some credence to the adage that ignorance is bliss. Anyway, as I mentioned, it might not be beautiful, but it is authentic; it might not be permanent, but it is current.

    Yay 🎉🥳 excited that you have returned! Sorry you have felt so disheartened with humans. You did a great thing focusing your energies on rescuing animals who need you and love you and their love is very healing!

      Yes, truth be told, the collective and I have had a falling out. But I guess it's part of the process. Anyway it is what is real, and I don't do inauthenticity. It just shines a spotlight on the need to control what we focus on and where we obtain the impulses and information that we fill ourselves with. You know better than anyone how much my babies mean to me. And you know better than anyone that great pain is the price of great love. So be it, then; love greatly anyway. Thank you, Susie, for your perpetual waves of love and encouragement.
