    Love the concept but I'll probably stick with the side mount option unless I'm sure it can work with my helmet's chin skirt and chin air vents. This is probably the main reason for them choosing to use off-road rather than on-road type helmets for their marketing.

    What a cracking idea! Thanks for doing the review Tony.
    As a rank amateur who only wants to video the highlights of a trip, say Scotland once or twice a year, and not every day stuff, this is an excellent idea.

      Cheers, yep f you’re a motovlogger, you’re more likely to have a dedicated helmet set up for that. But if you’d rather not ‘attach’ something to your helmet, or as you mention only want to film the occasional time, this seems like a good solution.

    I recently bought one of these and it doesn't quite work as expected on my Klim Krios Karbon helmet (from 2019). Would have been a great solution for me because the front of the Krios is all weirdly shaped and I can't get one of the GoPro sticky mounts freaking anywhere! Still gonna hang on to it because it's well made and will likely go on my next helmet.

    I got myself one of those last year and it is great. The spring is really strong and requires some muscle power, so it does stay in place really well. Can recommend it.

    Tony, as usual, great review, thanks. I agree that the gripper mount is a really clever and convenient solution. The only drawback I found is that I have my nav mounted low, right down near the tank. I do this as the front of the bike I was using my camera on has no weather protection to speak of. So the combination of a low mounted sat nav and the gripper mount on my chin was a bit awkward at times. On my other bikes this would not be an issue. I am really happy with it.

    Well, isn't that a handy little thing! Been looking for a solution just like that for moto-vlogging - something that doesn't permanently attach to the helmet and still performs. As you said, if Ms. Itchy Boots can flog one of those the length of South America, I'm sure it's up to the task. Amazon (US) sells them and the mount adapter kits (straight in my cart), and mostly get great reviews, people only have trouble with them on dirt helmets.

    It does look a handy bit of kit but any of us in search of low wind noise audio won't want to remove the chin curtain to allow the clip to fit. I also wonder if at higher speeds, the clip and mount would induce additional noise.
    Do you think the clip sticking below the chin of the helmet could be dangerous if your head is forced down towards your chest in an accident? Sorry trying not to be too negative but I use the same as your original set up and it's simple and works.

    • @mancavemoto
      @mancavemoto  2 роки тому +1

      Fair point but I guess that depends on your mic setup. I didn’t notice any additional noise over and above what the camera creates. The clip is designed to ‘get knocked off’ in a big impact, so I don’t think it would do you any damage? Not being negative, there all valid questions. It’s not a perfect solution, but it’s certainly the easiest mount I’ve found to install. I’ll still use my other helmet until it’s time to retire it, but the gripper is good for additional helmets or when I don’t want it mounted all the time.

    Tony - two questions. First, how does this work non-adventure helmets w/o pointy chins? Second, how are you mounting the GoPro audio accessory and cabling into your helmet?

    • @mancavemoto
      @mancavemoto  2 роки тому

      Hi, it works pretty well, the rubber clamp end is soft and moulds nicely to different shapes. I use a media mod, and kust plug a lavalier mic straight into it.

    • @adriankuepker9981
      @adriankuepker9981 2 роки тому

      I’ve had one for a few months and found that it did not work at all with any non-adventure helmets. It slid down constantly if the helmet actually had a smooth plastic liner inside to protect the chinbar foam.

    I like the possible versatility but the part that sticks out below the chin bar would do my nut. Often if I have the GoPro on the front of my helmet it will bump into my shoulder when doing shoulder checks, having something else protruding below the helmet would just make that so much worse. Maybe it's me and I'm abnormally formed, or something?
    Currently, I'm using mounts by RideTechMoto - they are helmet specific and permanently attached but they very unobtrusive when the camera isn't attached, not very expensive either.

      Yes, shes got the 1/4 screw mount from the accessories pack I mentioned, and the camera is mounted to a gopro 1/4 inch camera mount. Its either so that she can move the camera to other accessories easier, or she wanted to have the gopro sit higher on the Dango mount?

      Sadly his camera was physically screwed to his ski helmet. This is designed to come away from the helmet in the event of a crash, which is something i should have mentioned in the video.
