- Two things stand out to me about Mima Ito and Liu Shiwen - their size and their shots. Maybe there are shorter pros out there, but their the ones at the top of the game that I've watched.
Disagree with my take? Let me know why in the comments. - Спорт
The intro tho...
I just found the channel and i love the mix of deeper analysis and actual passion
Either way, if you look at all World and Olympic champions for the past 15 years, they were all short. I firmly believe that being a short player is a sizeable mobility advantage in table tennis.
As a 6.2 player, I always struggle to produce strong-enough forehand topspin without a dedicated pivot-the arm traver time is just too long. Moreover, it just requires too much effort to quickly turn a massive body for consecutive shots. So I actively take a chance on any backhand shot (from any position) and vary spins to keep the pressure, because short game into forehard exchange is my deathknell.
You may clearly see a pattern-the taller a player is, the higher is a chance he will focus on his backhand game. Dima, Pucar, Franziska, and even Falck mostly play around their backhand and often struggle with wide/short forehand.
great vid man, love the analysis and think this video is way nicer to look at than the previous ones where the constant looping of points could get a little bit hard to look at. keep it up!
Two of my favorite female TT players of recent years or as I refer to them as the 'Queens of Speed Pong', they have both left indelible marks on the game that we love but let us not forget Deng Yaping dominating the game from 1989 to 1997; who at 4' 11" was the original 'Short Queen' of pong wining gold medals at both the Barcelona and Atlanta Olympics. Taller players like Ding Ning, Chen Meng, Wang Manyu and Hina Hayata often exploit their superior reach in order to defeat the 'Pocket Rocket' princesses (Liu and Ito). I have much love and respect for the 'Shorties' though.
I a bit too new to remember that era of table tennis (I started a tiny bit before the 40+ ball change) but I just looked up some Deng Yaping videos and dang she's fast
This vids a 10/10 . This is definitely your element .
Awesome video! A notable improvement
Real fun to watch
nah these videos are incredible
in my university we play ping pong between classes and i realized that the top players are tall , like 180 cm and more , they always reach out to the ball with ease , except me a 170 cm guy who is the shortest ones from the top players and i always get fatigued a lot while playing ( i once played on a table that is shorter and i felt how they feel the normal table , and yes they have more field of view to the table from above)
Love the video. Hopefully you get enough time later to make longer content.😂😊
Bro keep going! Your content is what I wished for sooooo long in tt. Highly technical and to the point. Similar to how Asian commentators commentate in live games. Not the Adam Barbie (or whatever) garbage.
Love you videos!!!!
Thanks!
i love ur content
please make a video about wang chuqin vs filus it would be interesting.
Lmfao what a clean intro 😂
Nice troll on the DeciMeter.
Now use meters instead, please ^^
I have nothing but immense respect for physics majors ... phys 2 just got to quantum mechanics :(
great video!!
I was definitely on the struggle bus for quantum. I missed the lecture on bra-ket notation so I was confused for like half the semester lol
xu xin video when ?:)
It's definitely on the docket
The reason why most of the women play close to the table with short strokes whereas the men play farther and tend to wait a little longer is due to the biology of male vs female. Similar to tennis, males can easily kill the ball with one shot from farther from the table. However, the women have to stay closer because they do not have the capability to finish the ball. This is the first English-speaking table tennis YT channel I've seen, keep it up with your analysis. You'll only get better.
Speedtalking
I try
Hey why is alexis lebrun not active as felix?
Not super sure, I don't really follow the Euro leagues but at least for the big wtt events it might be because he's not qualifying for as many events
