I commented before, I've done a hard reset before completely started over. I quit my job went to therapy and took 6 months to remember the basics of being a human. After that time i slowly rejoined the world. The Hard rest the starting over was freeing and paralyzing. I had no confidence anymore, i couldn't find it in myself to work on computers anymore the only thing i was good at. Restarting was the best and hardest thing i've ever done. I've learned some much since then become so much more then i was, i still wish i never had to do a complete start over but that is life sometimes. The video hit me right in the heart, Loved every second i've watched it a few times. Mrs.EmSArcade Thank you for coming back in a style and doing content you want as well as being open and vulnerable about it. You are wonderful Glad to be a piece of your community.
Really glad you could get enjoyment out of the vid a few times over 😊 I'm glad to have you here as a part of the community! Totally agree that restarting can be one of the hardest things we have to do. Sadly a very necessary part of life. Thank you for your comment, I included it and responded more in the follow-up video that's uploading right now!
This is such an incredibly insightful and honestly inspiring video. In my own life in regards to content creation and general life things I kept getting caught up in what I thought I should be doing (streaming and gaming or following trending art challenges) rather than what I wanted. I think it was hard for me to know what I wanted to make or how I wanted to be until I thought about what things I wanted to watch, or who I would want to be around and used that to direct me. So far its been working out. Excited to see your new journey 🖤
Aww thank you Jenny! That's exactly how I felt about making things that I would want to watch. And allowing myself to be open to new paths had led me to make good friends who are supportive of the stuff I make regardless of what it is so that's really all I could ask for! (That means you 🥺❤️)
These topics are really hitting. I feel like i could use a restart. Like, quit my job, find new living arrangements, and kinda focus on me for a hot minute before coming back to the world. But I'm afraid to make things worse. its not like my situation is bad, but im not really getting anything from it. Like, im kinda just floating along and not feeling fulfilled. Like you were saying, if you feel you cant restart, try and make things work for you. Working around my problem areas - i always felt i didn't have enough time in the day - working nearly 10 hours a day. But ive started to squeeze some simple activities in the few hours i get after work. Like going for a walk, or movie night with family/friends/boyfriend. Its definitely started to help
This whole video is so relatable for me. Not just the constant "what about this" maybe overthinking a little bit kind of thoughts, but honestly I struggle with art for similar reasons. I started again and again, and to give myself credit I was also going through a lot in my life that repeatedly killed my spirit and motivation, and kinda just hoped something different would happen. It's hard, but I also have to ask myself if I'm even wrong? I might have the right idea but be doing it at the wrong time, my brain is probably trying to look out for me so I don't experience more of that heartache of things not going the way I Wanted them to. The constant wondering if I'm doing things right, what I'm doing wrong, and it's easy to miss that I'm gaining experience either way and I'm Living My Life, those are things that are gonna happen anyway and so it's best that I just am able to enjoy it. This is also a time that I'm kind of starting over/again, and this was really inspiring video for me. Always love seeing you post!! I hope you enjoyed making this video, I also loved the Stardew goofery 💖
Aww thanks so much, I definitely enjoyed making the video! Really resonated with me when you said your brain might be protecting you to avoid heartache down the line. I've considered that as the case a few times when things didn't work out the way I planned! Great comment, I included it in the follow-up video that's uploading as we speak 😊
I'm really great at starting over, I learn to build up from the ashes what I set ablaze. I hope that you find joy in sticking to this content however long that journey is.
That's awesome! Definitely not a skill that everyone has so it's impressive you can do that time and time again. I'm certainly still learning it myself. And thank you, it's been a lot of fun so far!
The timing of this is kinda perfect for me, I turn 30 in a few days, living paycheck to paycheck, stressed out of my mind at work, and my job just got turned upside down for the 3 year in a row due to big management changes, so I definitely relate to the feeling of having to kinda start over for reasons outside your control. Im very thankful that at least I still have a job with decent pay, and my apartment is rent control protected, but the cost of living is just so high now I feel like Im so behind "where I should be". Love the idea of just a chill life chat over gameplay, looking forward to following the series 🙂
Hey welcome to the 30 club! It's not as scary as it seems, I promise 🤭 But I totally get where you're coming from as someone who's felt behind in life a few times! Would love to include this comment in a follow-up vid if you're okay with it :)
I'm about at the point in my life where something like the topic you're discussing is something that really does kinda resonate with me, now being in my mid 20s and wondering what I'm even doing with my life now. Not related to content creation obviously, but either way, I dunno, I'm lost honestly! and it is a little comforting hearing all this. Even though I got to watching this a few days late, it was really nice watching this video, it's nice seeing you around again, and I hope things work out alright! (and also, nice to hear Hoodie is around and doing well, I watched his stuff years ago and always kinda wondered what he was up to)
Totally feel you on being lost! I'm pretty sure I was wondering the same thing in my mid-20s. I'm glad I can bring a little comfort! Thankfully most things in life get clearer with time :) Do you mind if I use your comment in a follow-up vid? And no worries, it's only been a day since I uploaded! And thank you :) I actually haven't heard from Hoodie in a while but from what I've gathered it seems like he's doing well! Hopefully I'm right haha
I can’t believe I’ve been subscribed to you for about 10 years now 🥹 your videos got me through the hardest parts of my life and I’m so glad to see you’re still here! Loved the video! 🖤
First off, it's so good to see new content again. Your channel has always been a source of fun/wholesome/comfort content for me, happy to have you back! Second, I am vibing with this format and am interested in seeing where this goes for future discussion topics. However many hours of editing/production went into this video was well worth it, at least from my perspective. And third, I haven't gone to start over yet but I've been contemplating a career change in my future. I agree that that kind of transition is really scary, but it's also fun to lean into the idea of how exciting a fresh start can be. Still probably few years off, and it won't happen without some degree of preparation beforehand, but the shared perspective on big changes is appreciated. Here's to more EmSArcade, grateful for your continued presence on UA-cam 😊
Thank you, I'm happy to be a source of all that for you! Glad you're vibing with the format, I've been enjoying making videos with it 😊 Got a few already backlogged ready to go out so hopefully you'll like those topics too! Oh yeah, a career change is always a mixture of scary and exciting! Actually would love to talk about that more in a follow-up vid if you don't mind me using your comment 😁
Welcome back! When you said in the beginning of the video that you had continued to do something that wasn't working, THINKING you were starting over, that really made me think, and I was like: yep! DONE THAT! Segue: that chicken was t-posing not show dominance, but domi-loves (I don't know. It's a bad pun 😆) I HAVE played Stardew as a solo player, and it did not go well -- I need to be carried 😆 3:49 yeah I don't think that works in solo. I think it only DOES work in multiplayer, cause imagine expending all your energy while your friend(s) still have a bunch, and being like: EVERYONE GO TO BED 😆 Or the reverse, waiting around until everyone's tired 😆5:40 I'm glad your channel never ended, honestly! You've been with me (not literally, but as a creator, making content), for so long! So if you had decided to end the channel, I think I'd be very sad! I definitely related a lot with your decision to restart things being driven by a feeling of losing control/or losing control! 8:31 YOU CAN CLICK ON THOSE BOOKS?! I'll keep my comment short here, but I'm going to continue hearing you ruminate (I love the word ruminate atm), and glad you're making this a series (hopefully)
Haha love the long comment. I think I'd be really sad to end the channel too! I wouldn't like the finality of it. I like that I can come back here with new ideas anytime I want 😊 But yeah this series feels more like a brand new start than a continuation and I'm happy for that :) I have a few more vids backlogged so you'll have those to look forward to at least! And yes you can click the books! But apparently not very easily lol
@@EmSArcade I'm either long comment or no comment😆 This is your corner on the interwebs! You are always welcome here haha! Yay more videos! Yeah those books were playing hard to get 😆😆
@@EmSArcade Keep your head up. You’ve always been an awesome creator, and a cool person too, so I hope you find your stride again. P.S. Your singing still rocks! I still visit your cover of “Everything’s Alright” every now and then!
Thank you! I'm glad to hear people are still listening from time to time 😊 I have a few more videos for this series backlogged so I've hit my stride a little at least for now!
I know exactly what it is like to start over, I was in a very bad place professionnally for the past few years, part of that is because I was fixated on doing things my own way, not the way people wanted, as a result, I never got my dream job, so I branched out, started over, went back to school for a bit, and eventually found another job, it suits me, but honestly that's about it, but it will also help me and serve as a platform to try again to get my dream job later and somewhere else than where I initially tried. I haven't lost hope, but I did need to actually understand that I had to stop bashing my head on a wall that was never gonna crack, because I have a way to do things that these people don't, and when those people are the recruiters, well… Anyway, I'm currently in the process of starting over my professionnal life, and even if it is a job I only partially like, it feels good to be trusted to do a job, to feel like I am doing good, it gives me back the confidence I had lost that I am worthy of my dream job, and that I can get it one day. So just like you Emily, I'll «start again» but outside of the context/rules I used to be in. Sorry for the novel, super happy you're back, tons of encouragement and love from France! Bye!
I like to think that things we perceive as setbacks are really just the universe routing us in a different direction so we can accomplish our goals another way! It's great that you've allowed life to take you down a different path, not everyone would be so open to it. I hope it works out well for you 😁 Do you mind if I use your comment in a follow-up vid? Also I appreciate the encouragement! As someone starting to learn French, merci beaucoup 😊
Sorry I didn't see you answered, I was watching the follow up video you made and saw my comment and realised that was not the right name tag, (I'm Meric Wolf on Twitch, I don't think you remember me passing by on your streams from time to time😃) anyway thanks for the encouragement, right back at you for the "Life through Gaming" series, I'll be there rooting for you!
Oh lol I wish I could fix it after the fact! Oh well haha. I actually do recognize your username now! I took a gamble on using your comment since I didn't hear back, hope that's okay 🤞 And thank you, I appreciate that! 😊
@@EmSArcade Yes it's completely okay😃 don't worry about not being able to fix the username, it was me who needed to do it and I just did😃😃 nice choice and good luck trying to learn french and it's grammar through duolingo! From the tid bits that I can hear in the video your accent is great, especially for an english speaker! See you later Em' !
@@MericWolf Haha thank you, I hammed it up for the intro but good to know my real French accent isn't so bad 😂 Some of the grammar is a bit challenging but I'm powering through!
Est-ce que tu c'est fromage? Welcome back! If my comment doesnt make sense its from an old video and it was a moment that really made me double over laughin in my college library
Omg wait you've unlocked something in my brain... Which video was that from? 😂 I'm actually learning French now so I think I would do a lot better this time lol
@EmSArcade it was one of the Reading Comments videos you did. I don't remember why, but I had asked something about French and you proudly proclaimed that you are cheese. I think at that time my username was KayPlay or WillKayPlay
Well if you get that one shot, one opportunity... It's important what you do with it. Will you capture it or let it slip? I mean I get that your knees may be weak and your arms are heavy..... but you need to clean that vomit of your sweater and stop eating to much of mums spaghetti!
Emily! It is so good to see you again. I was watching The Boys and thinking yes, this is a good story in the making when I saw the last episode of season four. But it was your description of repeatedly starting over and invoking that old saying about doing the same thing again and again that brought me a revelation. This revelation is so profound, so huge, that it might turn me into one of the smartest people currently living on this Earth. Not that such is a particularly high bar. Our age is one without an Einstein or a Tesla, after all. The end of season four of The Boys suggests the story in toto ends with one group of people becoming extinct. Which holocaust will be chosen, as Prince Nuada said so beautifully at the end of Hellboy II. You see, it is not the doing the same thing over and over that is the problem. It is what I call "feeding the paradigm". We have worked within a paradigm for so long, one that is no longer useful. And paradigms are a lot harder to break out of than a series of actions. But this is my own "shot with a diamond bullet" moment, and one I need to explore more before I can give advice based on it. What I can tell you is that you clearly have something that is allowing you to keep yourself fed, clothed, and housed, the basics. Editing, as you mention. Keep at it. But find something other than YouChoob to do, because it is clearly no longer fulfilling for you. If it were fulfilling, you would not be starting over, abandoning it, and repeating that series of actions over and over. It is not the repeating of the actions. It is that you have a paradigm that does not work for you. I have watched the video of you singing that you posted what feels like an eon ago. Do you find singing to be fulfilling? Do that in the time that your editing work allows. Put that online. Maybe that can turn into a new career. You mentioned things in school that sound like they might be viable if you work on them. Do that, maybe. But the YouChoob stuff? No. That paradigm is not working. The entertainment industry in general is feeding a paradigm that does not work. So too is the Human species. In both cases, the paradigm may result in the extinction of both. Whether they will abandon their paradigms in time to save themselves is a question for the ages, but the deadline for that may have already passed in the latter case. But in any case, unless it is just as a "hey, I want to share this thing I enjoyed making" hobby, I suspect YouChoob is not a big part of your future. Abandon that paradigm before it takes you down with it.
Interesting analysis of the video topic 🤔 But what is a hobby if not something you can put down and pick up again at any point? Maybe it didn't come across in my video but I'm actually very happy where I'm at right now editing for a living and making videos as an occasional side project when the mood strikes! And as long as I'm getting joy out of it and other people are too, I don't see why I shouldn't keep doing it. So I guess we can agree to disagree there 😁
Hope you enjoy this little venture into something new!! Love and appreciate you guys 🥰

Lmao that sounds about right! That was indeed all the French I knew for a long time 😂
Well if you get that one shot, one opportunity... It's important what you do with it. Will you capture it or let it slip? I mean I get that your knees may be weak and your arms are heavy..... but you need to clean that vomit of your sweater and stop eating to much of mums spaghetti!
But what if I'm ~nervous~
