Vala doing the "never met" thing with Mitchell was an Easter egg reference to how Claudia Black and Ben Browder previously starred together in the sci-fi series Farscape
Can we be honest? The beginning of season 9 is just a Daniel and Vala spinoff show. I'm not gonna lie.... I kinda love it though lol. (Shan has already seen all the upcoming episodes people, relax).
Shan's varying faces of "WTF is Vala on about" are hilarious. I know not everyone liked Season 9 (and 10), but I enjoyed the fresh take on the show after 8 seasons. The banter may be a bit more loose, but there are still hard-hitting twists and turns and philosophical dilemmas aplenty.
It is definitely jarring with how this season starts with the way all these new characters are just there. From what I understand during season 8 they knew Richard Dean Anderson was leaving and they thought they were going to get cancelled which is why season 8's finale feels like the end of the show. Originally though Brad Wright was planning on making what became season 9 an entirely different spin-off show called Stargate Command but the Sci-fi channel talked him into continuing it as SG1 and we got a soft reboot with half the main cast being new.
NGL, lollypops are important. It can be hard to enjoy even your favorite shows without one. And this episode, yummy Daniel and Vala, certainly calls to be enjoyed with a lollypop.

Amanda Tapping aka Sam Carter was on maternity leave
Farscape SG-1
What the yotz are you talking about
so this is 33% of the Farscape cast.
13:48 "You weren't part of the team" every time Mitchell speaks up with almost fanboy enthusiasm you burn him xD
Amanda was pregnant (or had just recently given birth) at this point, which is why she was on a screen instead of meeting Cam in person.

And surprisingly, it’s still just as good.
I started SG-1 at this point because I’m a huge Farscape fan. Both Claudia and Ben are the main two characters, and they did great here too
People call me Dave
Says here that's your name
Yes
Bullets BOUNCE!
Mitchell wanted some grand adventure? O.k.

13:34 man I love Vala 🤣
The guys Mitchell interviews who are working on an android will be successful...eventually...
How much do you like the new team? The new General, Vala and the new Jack?
I'm currently up to 9x14 and warmed up to them a little more than I was in the beginning of the season.
Good reaction good episode
Its a bit of a soft reboot. It a completely new arc.
