I'm beginning to think rimfire testing is a form of insanity LOL. Chasing tiny groups trying to get everything perfect only to have 1 round go willy nilly. Great shooting, the wind looked perfect for testing. Really enjoy the channel and look forward to more testing.
Insanity is right, once you go small everything else is considered a waste of ammo. Sometimes you wish for double jointed knees so you can kick your own butt.
At the begining of 2023 I bought a CZ 457 MTR 20". I also bought one pack of top ammo from every manufacturer that I could find. Then I placed the rifle in a vice and test fired 15 different ammo types, 20 rounds cleaning the rifle after every test. The rifle shot one hole at 50 meters with only one ammo sort, and that is SK Rifle Match. And now it's alomost impossible to get any SK ammo, and I live where it's made.
I too have been experimenting with collars for well over a year with 3 different rifles,.....with VERY helpful results, BUT,...I always use electrical tape, a half-dozen wraps to act as a cushion/dampener under the collars & torque collars to 50 in/lbs.,......Yes Sir - more insanity - testing.....lol
I have a Cortina Tuner on my RimX with Lothar Walther MTU-contour barrel. It does nothing at all. My guess is that the barrel is too rigid (short/fat) for the tiny cartridge to create any real vibration that can be tuned.
Most likely. Thicker barrels predispose to dampened barrel harmonics resulting in less vibration the projectile must traverse before muzzle exit. So less effect of distorted path even when 'off' the node (?). One day I would like to come across an engineers analysis of these properties and affects 🤓.

Yep....I told myself if I ever think of sorting rimfire again, I'm going to consider therapy 😅
Im glad I found and subbed to this channel...
Excellent testing.
Nice been doing the same thing the last two months, found some nice results with my tikka .15-.19 .55mm from crown $2.50 collar!

A good rifle with the right ammunition: a winning combination! Sometimes we just have to wait for ammunition availability. 🙄
Center X looked like the winner without needing the additional weight of the collars.
That is how I see it as well. 🧐

Center X lubricant got the barrel seasoned at group five or four.
My thoughts also! 🤔🤓
