    The Cubii JR under desk elliptical is one of those "as seen on TV" products that advocates the idea to "get fit while you sit", so after seeing tons of advertisements for it I decided to buy it for myself and make this quick Cubii JR review to share my perspective on this under desk elliptical machine. If you thought this model was expensive wait til you see the price of the Cubii Pro on amazon! The DeskCycle is another popular product similar to this one.
    Text form Cubii review: tailhappytv.com/cubii-jr-review
    If you watch the ads for this mini elliptical I could see why some people may think it is a scam, I mean how many calories can you really burn sitting on the couch turning your feet in a small elliptical motion? Can you really get fit while you sit using the Cubii elliptical?
    Obviously the Cubii JR1 seated under desk elliptical machine is nothing like a "normal" piece of cardio equipment like a peloton bike or a standard elliptical, however I can see the benefits of a simple under desk bike or elliptical. First things first, are you going to get a hihg intensity workout in on a cubii elliptical? not likely. But that's not the point. The way I see it, the Cubii JR is a great way to get a little bit of simple motion going on while you sit rather than doing nothing at all. I could see the benefits of having a mini bike or mini under desk elliptical under your office table if you spend a lot of time on your computer working as a simple way to get some motion going through your body. I found that when I used the under desk bike it caused my core to work more than I thought it would, to stabilize my upper body as my legs below moved.
    I could see a mini elliptical being beneficial to those who are unable to use a full size elliptical or indoor bike for an intense workout. Particularly the elderly or those recovering from a injury may find a machine like this beneficial.
    Anyway, i found this little machine intriguing and just had to grab one for myself to publish the quick cubii jr review for anyone interested, let me know if you have any questions about it in the comments below, I thought it would be entertaining if nothing else lol.

    Hi All, I am a physical therapist, and I do mobile visits with people who are less "athletic" than the population who is probably viewing this channel (which I LOVE).
    I have owned, recommended, loaned, and trialed numerous portable-desk style of pedals and ellipticals.
    There are true differences in the variety out there, and for the person who is less mobile, recovery from surgery, disabled, has neurological conditions, etc these are AWESOME! The new ones do not make that squeaky noise. The thing about the Cubii is that the angle of the foot pedals makes it much more functional from a chair than many other seated ellipticals. Other ellipticals from a chair can be hard to get a full revolution and the ankle angle becomes to "flattended out" on some other ellipticals of its category (too much plantar flexion in ankle) which makes it hard on some people. So in summary, this serves a good purpose and is a good product, should not squeak, is great for certain populations who have a mobility or recovery issue. Just my two cents after 34 years of being a PT

    I have POST COVID LUNG and since I started having trouble walking without getting winded I bought it so I could see if it would help me lose weight so my POST COVID LUNG would make me less winded. I have had for less than a month and I try to do 10,000 strides pre day, I have lost weight and I am slowly getting to the point that I am getting less winded. I would say I love it because it is helping me get my health back. No mine is not as loud as your machine I use it while I am watching TV. The only problem I have with it is who ever is setting with me falls to sleep because it rocks the coach. Lol But seriously it is a life saver for me. It is a higher quality machine. But wish it had been cheaper but well worth the money.

    • @terrieanderson717
      @terrieanderson717 2 роки тому +6

      @@Samson-dn4eo I believe that the solution to stiffness and creakiness is movement. There is a saying the motion is lotion. And I believe that is true. You have to find the balance between motion that causes you more stiffness and pain, versus motion that allows you more freedom of movement. Always start with less movement and less action than you think you can do. Assess how it works. And then add some. This is a good start for you

    I also just bought one today and it’s very quite, not sure but the one you have may have a factory defect. Can’t tell from the video, but mine has a pad below wheels that cushions the sound. So the sound may be coming from the wheels rubbing against the base plastic. Love the video, thanks.

There is a video on youtube by Pierre-Luc Arguin talking about a fix where he has a felt around the rubber bottom so the wheels arent in contact with the rubber. I did it with a very thick cardstock paper stapled together (so that it wont move when the wheels move) and no more squeaking!

    Older disabled people will be the ones who benefit. Add the 3 lb bar bells to your upper body workout is a game changer. This isn't for people who take walking and exercising for granted. Ridiculous. Ask a disabled senior or someone with Fibromyalgia how they use it. Create a whole body work out for 30 minutes and you've got a very good workout.

  • @dathyr1
    @dathyr1 2 роки тому +4

    Thanks for the video. I find the cubii as you say does some feet/leg motion while sitting. Seems to me sitting down and putting my feet on cubii, the motion feel is not like riding a bike. My feet/ankles seem to do more control of making the pedals go around rather than pushing down with the legs like on a bike. So my feet are doing most the work, while the rest of the legs are along for the ride/workout. I do some other upper body exercises while sitting doing the cubii, but these are on my own, has nothing to do with the cubii. Summary for me, the cubii is good to keep your legs/feet active while sitting. Whether it burns off allot of weight doing this device, not too sure.

    I've had and have used a Cubii Jr for years and it has never been noisy like that. Since you got it used it really isn't a valid review since you don't know how well it was taken care of. Bending down to change the resistance level is not the big deal you make it out to be. Also you mentioned sweating. Well if you're sweating then you are getting a workout. It's up to you how fast you want to peddle. IMO you were just looking for negatives. For me it was well worth the price. It also very close to the exercise you get on those giant recumbent machines that you see in physical therapy rehab. I get a much better workout with it with less joint stress than I ever got on my stationary bike.

    Had hoped to see a review of will this be of use at a normal PC workstation, spec for tables says 27.25inch underside to floor, and what height is the heel area as being 6ft and a 23inch leg 4.25 inches at the max heel height during use would see table underside hit by leg. No data on this at all on the net on THE HEIGHT OF THE HEEL AREA, which is critical before buying ! Please measure that at rest and at max it gets to. Also we dont use vintage wooden chairs much so whats it like for a normall wheelie chair, does the chair end up moving etc. Exercise when at desk IS CRUCIAL for feet leg and health and PC use is the new killer.

    It's not for the healthy who can jog,jump rope, lift weights,swim,ect ,but for circulation of lower body and for people with some limited, key word limited conditions ,for the elderly or people in office jobs they are helpful but to loose weight ,no,to warm-up before squats or a run for young people who are more likely to do heavier workouts. They are useful,but shouldn't cost more than 100.00 dollars it' doesn't have a digital computerized component ,yet.

    Well there are hundreds of other stationary floor elliptical and peddler exercisers. If this machine is already worn after 4 months than it isn't durable at all. I like your review-- but at $249 or $349 like the pro-- it just seems like an overpriced, inferior product compared to other floor elliptical peddlers.

    😂🤣😂 outside of use in rehab the only weight you’ll lose with useless crap like this machine is in your wallet. The only way you can lose weight and get fit is through simple hard work. I’m 58 and have a heart defect (heart muscle damage caused by a virus) as well as a degenerative bone disease. After 3 heart episodes and against my doctors advice I started walking that with healthy eating I am now walking between 10km and 15km a day and have lost just over 40kg. Am now working on losing another 15 to 25kg again through hard work and healthy eating.

      @@rararara7009 my doctor has told me I have to lose more weight and freaked out about my exercise because of my heart and bone problems there’s times when you’ve got to listen to yourself cutting everything out of my diet and increasing my medication including 2 steroid injections a day didn’t seem like a smart or workable battle plan.
