I think you're confused. Guests love WTF and Marc, but he has a reputation as a grumpy old bastard that precedes him. It doesn't mean "the guests secretly hate him but do the show anyway." They want his approval because they respect him.
Gallagher walked out from the podcast with Marc, i thought maybe you are a big fan of that man. Marc Maron comedy is based on him beeing a failure and feeling discomfortable, he is constantly jealous of people that are more successful than him. Marc Maron is definitely not for everyone, he can take you to dark places. But i think youre wrong about his guests. I think you are discomfortable with Marc, not the guests, except Gallagher, Dane cook and Carlos Mencia.
