I wish these got more attention. It's an interesting part of the transition from horses to oil powered vehicles that most people don't really know about.
thank you first of all, we are amazed but these machines are TOP of the LINE of their TIME and a continuing concept of the FIRST STEP to a JOURNEY of a THOUSAND MILES
I've been on the pride of the South we we're at Polegate in Great Britain 🇬🇧 my Dad and I use to go to traction engine rallys all over our county's we had a Burrel tractor lovely traction engine 😀 ❤ Dad controlled her i stoked the boiler and put the kettle on made tea and bacon and egg butties 😆 Great day's we had, I miss my Dad now he's passed on, but I've got Great memories 😀 👍 😊
I have often times wondered about this,,,were Steam engines ever used as a practical form of transportation over the road,,, I always thought it might have been cost prohibitive because they would’ve burn lots of wood or coal and consumed a great deal of water how much wood/coal and water with that road engine use on a 40 mile round-trip?
Unless you take very bad care of your engine and the boiler inspector doesn't do his job it's very unlikely. Mist US states have little to no regulations concerning boiler inspectiin and the explosion that happened in Medina County was preventable if the boiler was cared for properly
At the cotton ginning days in Dallas NC there is a 37.5HP single cylinder fairbanks morse diesel that runs the gin, it sounds similar to this when under load. www.oldengine.org/members/gamtra/images/CottonGinning/cottongin.htm
@William Gruff I'm not sure why you're making the distinction. The UK as a whole worked as one machine. Things were designed and manufactured in different parts of the company but the design of the British steam engine really came down to the quality of Welsh coal.
@William Gruff I'm Welsh and I can write at least as well as you in order to sound intelligent but you haven't actually said anything. Have you? Do you even know anything about steam engines or the industrial revolution? I'm also going to estimate from your tone that you're about 16. Were you intending to demonstrate what it is that I don't know? What part of England are you from? If you're from the South (other than Rochester), you come from an area that had no part to play in manufacturing steam engines either. Where I live is fairly near to Shrewsbury and Sandbach, which both had large engine manufacturers. Do you even know which city produced the most steam engines if you include railway locomotives? Glasgow! What part of England is Glasgow in again? Are you from the North? If so, you live in an area that produced steam engines but had no part in designing them. Your ancestor did as they were told and had no idea how what they were building worked. I live in Wales where very few engines were produced other than De Winton vertical-boilered types. However, if Wales had not been part of the UK during the industrial revolution, we would have taxed England for our coal and the steam engine may not have been developed at all due to its lack of viability. It would, at least, have been developed differently. Ahh but what about coal from Yorkshire and the North-East? Well, that was never really used for firing steam locomotives due to its high iron and sulphur contents. It was used to heat houses but it's not very good at producing steam. Is there anything else that you can think of that I don't know?
they say that all machinery and also the Computer age that we owe it to their inventors; But if you are able to put things into Prospective; In order to Create or invent such things we need such things as a Laith Anvils all types of precision Tools and Many More things to be able to create and invent things; I Know that some bright spark will tell me that Most things are by trial and error: Utter Rubbish !! The restored machines are wonderful, and the scale model ones are an absolute delight. Thanks for posting.
A really magnificent display of steam power, and so many models too. Good to see the steam enthusiasts enjoying their hobby.
There is something really beautiful about all these contraptions. I love them!!!

Thank you for not editing music or someones voice narrative over the sounds of these beauties.
Klasse!!!

and the inventor not only signed by himself but his sons included
wow, that calls old is gold. thanks for your video. I ever saw. Thanks for posting this.
Thank you for an enjoyable video...I really like the old machines.

Ein großartiges Dampffest!
Po tylu latach i nadal działają!! Super!
AWESOME LOVE THEM
That blue road roller has quite the bark!!

Those little steering cranks crack me up..
what a nice variety of steam......
It's weird seeing my hometown written on the side of a miniature steam engine in Germany!
...und die Sonne hat gelacht. War toll auf Zeche Hannover.

Très belle réalisation vidéo. Intéressant !
Steam rollers stayed in use, I remember them from the 50s, they were bigger, wider and loud.
Nice to look at but there’s always the specter of a boiler explosion. It’s happened here in the US taking several lives.
Unless you take very bad care of your engine and the boiler inspector doesn't do his job it's very unlikely.

8:47 -interesting horn sound
Looks like the Germans love their steam engines much like the British .
Anything steam I just call a train. Trains own that sound.
Technik, die begeistert.
Cool video, Thumbs Up liked.
Nice old car
A very nice show indeed, but nothing compares to Dorset.
2:48 is this where the name "steam roller" came from?

What is that loud thumping sound in the background? A huge static engine perhaps?

@@Wingnut353 Great shaking machine ... thanks!
Imagino o Quanto era difícil viajar antigamente!!!
The steam festival in my town doesn't drive the engines, they just sit there
Slow but sure , mighty and graceful powerful machines .
Powered by a 327 CID V8 engine and Power Glide automatic transmission this people mover has got some pep in it's step.
They are tiny compared to the old steam equipment we have in the U.S.
Everything is built to suit it's environment.
Are most of these steam machines British and I take it that this was shot in Germany , am I right ???
Some were German, Dutch or even Czech (2:01 with Czech inscription, whatever was the name of the country back then in 1901).
Nice, but most of the engines were British.
Did Germany not develop their own engines?
I am interested.
Please reply!

Do you have a specific date when these tractor/cars were in use? It would be very helpful for a project i'm working on. Thanks
