- Mortal Kombat 2 Plus is an absolutely amazing version of MK2. With vibrant colours and amazing graphics, they manage to improve on all aspects of this incredible game. Does it play like the arcade? Yes and no. Watch as I play through this incredibly difficult version of MK2, but have a great time doing so. Can you spot all the differences?

This is really cool. A lot of modders will go wayyy overboard with the changes to the point that it no longer resembles the original game. That's cool for those who are looking for that, but I think even MK purists would enjoy the hell out of this.
I really like it. I’m gonna play the hell out of it for a while. I wanna figure out all the secrets and use all the hidden characters. During this play through I started discovering little tricks already in regards to fooling the computer opponent, I wish I found this version sooner. Thanks for the comment Jon 👊🏼

So many things I love about this game, and still to this day Kintaro is my fav sub boss.
Also, I love Raidens throw in MK2 its so aggressive and badass🤟

It is a fun version, very challenging. You gotta show the Survival Mode so that people can see how impossible it is. 😫 I think if you hit F2 you can go into the settings and check the difficulty. Probably is at 3 (middle) by default? I did video run-throughs with Jade, and of beating Survival with one of the girls. We should do the 2 vs 2 for one of your upcoming videos. Sub's Air Freeze is great! You can also tag team your fighters in and out in 2 vs 2. 💪
It's grueling having to play the new AI on MK2+. You can always switch it back to the original AI gameplay when you press the F2 button on your laptop and also explore the other options there are available and save it to your liking. Awesome showing you enjoyed the plus versions my man! 👊
Yeah dude it was even harder with the new AI but because of that it was still tons of fun 👊🏼

Pretty much the only arcade version I play right now. If I'm playing the vanilla, it's more than likely it's on the console ports.
Seeing an expert struggling like the game is new to them again, makes for some great viewing!

You've mentioned Fightcade a lot recently and I never knew what it was, so going to look into this as it may give me a way to play these MK gam es again after so many years (before I somehow get a cab!!), nice one. This was a great play-through; these never get repetitive or boring, and especially looking for the new details and features etc. I noticed a few, so your educational videos on MK are working as I see things I wouldn't have before. WELL DONE, Shang Fun! (Tough battles today!) 👊😆
It’s a program you run on your PC, definitely look into it it’s very easy to setup and play. I played a bit of this with Subzero. If you have the turbo mode/extra moves, Subzero becomes a lot more broken haha
Im pretty sure you can loop ground freeze combos with his Slide combo exstender. Like jik slide ground freeze, they get reset and then you jik slide THEN jump over them and jik ground freeze/slide which is a 50/50 mixup. Either they get launched with slide again or unblockabled. He basically has a true Vortex which is a looping 50/50 scenario where they have to guess right to get out of it if im not mistaken. I might make a video tonight showing it in action and all the mixup options, pretty cool. His iceball freeze being even better for combos and air freeze probably make him top tier in this version of the game.

Great version of MK2. Nice playthrough. I think it's also available on some retro pie consoles, but not 100% sure which ones. Enjoyed watching. 👍👊
Thanks dude, it’s a very hard version but I already started finding out little tricks to bait the AI so that was kinda cool to show in real time. I do think this version is available on some of those, hopefully you get to check it out soon 👊🏼

Ha, good point you're so right. There would also be micro transactions with MK1 levels ON THE HARD COPY but locked behind a paywall.

Honestly, despite how much I like the work of the people who worked on this, like hack or version of the game, aka MK2 Plus, they still didn't fixed one thing, and that's the difficulty. Like, what's the point of trying to improve the game but not improve the very aspect of it that bothers a lot of people since the arcade days? Like, AI still can grab and throw you even when you are out of reach or when you attack them, and stuff like that. So yeah, it still needs a lot of work.
Fair enough. I feel like they could’ve made it easier for people who’ve never beaten the game before, finally giving them a chance to.
And also to locking skins for all the characters the quiz would be just like would be like mortal Kombat deception

Please do the MK Trilogy Plus mugen! I’d love to hear your take on it. It has a couple small cosmetic issues, but it really feels like the dream version of trilogy we imagined as kids with every version of every cheracter
I actually did a play through of Trilogy Komplete plus the other day, I have yet to post it though as I’ve been flooding the channel with videos lately lol it is VERY good though, stay tuned it’ll drop soon 👊🏼
Also, there should be a method of being able to go into the service menu for this and change a bunch of the settings.
Always loved Reptile, but MK2 is my favorite in the series, so it breaks my heart that he sucks in it. Is there a mod out there where he's as good as he is in UMK3?
You can customize some stuff, like the game over screen, where you can have the default Wasteland stage, the rare Goro's Lair with the roman 3 on screen with the Game Over with a question mark or the rare MK1 game over screen on Pit+Pit Bothom, the alternative AI, a Killer Instinct inspired character select screen and title screen that is displayed when inserting coins/picking the game mode.

I’m glad I found it. I love it and this is my new favourite version. I will learn the patterns and find the secret characters and break this game wide open. MARK MY WORDS lol
It’s interesting that while it seems harder it also seems more balanced to a degree? Does that make sense? These are all direct modifications of the arcade roms, which is why the fidelity is so high and a lot of it works exactly like the arcade. Fightcade’s just emulating the same arcade board as the original, so theoretically these roms could work on real hardware if they beat the encryption. Fightcade is built to have low input latency as well, which the arcade 1up isn’t as much, which is why it probably seems the controls are smoother. Fightcade, I believe, has the plain vanilla arcade MKII (and the others as well), so you should try out the original version on there too and see how they feel vs. the arcade 1up. (no hate on the arcade 1up, I think they’re very cool, even if they have some issues here and there.)

It might be mortal kombat komplete mugen plus. also a great MK mugen that isn't absolutely stupid.
One thing i always hated about any version ok Mk and mk2 and prob 3 is when you throw a projectile the person stays way to long in the throwing position so the opponent can basically get a free hit

Other than the combo meter , not a lot changed . Some background tweaks . Different AI. I would think smoke and Jade would have been playable
All of the secret characters and bosses + Hornbuckle are fully playable and they all have their respective finishers. "New" graphics were actually already in the game rom, but, for some reason, were unused. There are new moves, some new fatalities and the tweaks to many of the old ones. Eg. Liu Kang can execute stage fatality after Cartwheel if you're holding down + low attacks. He can also end it with a decap if down + block is pressed during animation. There's also a way to manipulate Kung Lao's hat so that you can choose whether you'll take the opponent's head or torso off. Sub Zero's victim won't unfreeze after being hit with snowball explosive, Raiden's god uppercut (and Noob's as well) can produce multiple heads to fall on the floor... Same goes for Kintaro's second fatality. Certain stages from arcade MK1 can be added into rotation, as well as the pit II knockoff called the Mountain Top. There are multiple codes to be entered before the two player match, etc.

no patched MKII ROM on there and nowhere seems to have patched MKII ROM available...I had last time email from someone who sent me patched ROM cos it drives me nuts doing it myself....too many mental health issues to do it again
oops well bugger me i sorted the issue i found the version of MAME i had wasnt correct...didnt need to patch MKII+ rom like used to do

It’s also available on internet archive. If you go on internet archive you don’t have to download it you can play it through the web browser

I thought this hack supposed to have playable Smoke, Jade, and Noob Saibot
It is... however you have to unlock them, Smoke being the pain in the gut as you need to pull out a MK1 Reptile and complete the secret battle, Jade just defeat her on a normal arcade ladder, Noob Saibot you need to speedrun the arcade ladder to unlock him (clear time of about 10 minutes or less), also, both Kintaro and Shao Kahn are playable, but you have to unlock them via Survival mode with the alternative AI on Ultimate difficulty.
It does. They are very hard to unlock however. It also has Shao and Kintaro as playable but again, VERY hard to do.
@@BushyStallion Yeah, having to complete survival mode with the new AI behavior (and for safety measures in terms of difficulty putting it on Ultimate) is no joke, also, Jade is the easiest to unlock as you only need to beat her in the vanilla MK2 ladders, Smoke is hard as you have to get the MK1 Reptile treatment to fight a secret opponent and defeat it to unlock Smoke, and Noob Saibot is just to speed-run an arcade ladder (better to do it in the vanilla ladders and play as lame as possible, you can unlock both Jade and Noob in a single run, but is better to skip Jade's fight or trigger it and quickly lose the match on purpose to win some time, as you need to beat the ladder in around 10 minutes gameplay time), is also good for Noob, Smoke and Jade to use the vanilla MK2 AI behavior, as the vanilla AI exploits will help you to do all the unlockable tasks that are NOT for survival mode.

Wow, the AI in this is only marginally harder than the original it seems. They’re so cheap
Apparently I can go into dip switches and change around the settings to Arcade difficulty if I want. Haven’t explored this version enough to see that yet. The default is set to Improved AI which is hard as hell as well but without the arcade exploits. Gonna play around with these options later tonight 👊🏼
