I've learned, going to Church once a week isn't enough...for me. That's why daily prayer is so important. It's like those positive affirmations Internet gurus encourage you to say only better because instead of gaining money or fame, you are gaining eternal life. Say the Rosary every day. Recite the Divine Office every day. I feel so close to Jesus and Mary during those times, especially.
Yes I agree with you on the days I pray my rosary and read his holy word I become anchored to him and nothing overcomes the peace he blesses me with on the days I neglect my prayers I'm totally adrift and at odds with the elements in this world so I pray for discipline in my daily routine and a more prayer oriented day. Have a Holy Spirit blessed day.
Always we need God's help to overcome temptation. He's so kind and merciful to support us to go through our daily trials. Viva Cristo Rey!

Alone we can’t do anything but once you discover the presence of our Lord you are no longer alone . You can talk to Him anytime and deep down in your heart you know He hears us , consoles us . Without Him my life would have no meaning at all and I couldn’t face up to the challenges I have to meet head on day after day ..

I also think that it is great benefit to know and accept that we are broken and damaged. In doing so, we remain teachable - unlike many of the Pharisees (and bishops today) who felt/feel they have all the answers.
I start each and every day (a) thanking God for another day; (b) asking Him to let my will be His Will; and (c) asking the Holy Spirit to help me make choices/decisions that are pleasing to the Father. I fully accept that I cannot get to Heaven on my own.
Thank you Fr. Mark for being who you are - and for being such a big part of my journey!
Never thought of this... 'big sinners' were more drawn to Jesus than the self-righteous even though He preaching went against their 'way of living'. We can hope because He loves us.

Beautiful words, thank you Fr. Mark! I love the concept of being carried by the Lord, especially when life seems so difficult! Our brokenness and weaknesses are strengthened and healed with the healing balm of Christ’s love, mercy and grace that restores our dignity as children of God. We just have to never lose sight of our need of him. What feeds my perseverance and gives me joy is the fact that God who has known and loved each and every one of us intimately since before the creation of the world knows how to bring us to holiness, so how can he possibly give up on us?! ‘Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you.’ Jeremiah 1.5

In the Rosary, the carrying of the cross, I take my cross and my loved ones and merge them with his, he foresaw all our sins in the garden of Ghethsemane, he bled for us all over the ground, consumed with love that we would identify our humanity with his divinity, he came down to divinize us, if we accept it, give him our will and say and mean, I surrender, then we can be crucified and be covered with his bubble of glory, all just to unite with him to give glory to God our most magnificent creator, what a God😪

Amen. And He never watered down his teaching to make it easier to hear. Jesus taught the Truth in its fullness and was (is) there to help his listeners ... to show them (us) how to live it. Fr. Mark, you have learned well from Him, and how I wish many others in the hierarchy of the Church would also teach what Jesus taught and not just what the world wants to hear. *FOOTPRINTS*
One night I had a dream. I dreamed that I was walking along the beach with the Lord. Across the sky flashed scenes from my life. For each scene, I noticed two sets of footprints in the sand; one belonging to me and the other to the Lord.
When the last scene of my life flashed before me, I looked back at the footprints in the sand. I noticed that many times along the path of my life there was only one set of footprints. I also noticed that it happened at the very lowest and saddest times of my life.
This really bothered me and I asked the Lord about it. “Lord, You said that once I decided to follow You, You would walk with me all the way. But I have noticed that during the most troublesome times in my life, there is only one set of footprints; I don’t understand why when I needed You the most, You would leave me”.
The Lord replied, “My precious, precious child, I love you and I would never leave you. During your times of trial and suffering, when you saw only one set of footprints, it was then that I carried you”.
God is always with us.

PS. Thank you for quoting "Footprints in the sand...", dear Terri! It is on my mind often, as it is the very first prayer that touched my heart, when I was 12 yrs. old. It seems to follow me everywhere. I found it stashed in the middle of my dresser...(3 copies of it!) Just recently, a sheet of paper with this prayer on it appeared as I was walking in a store, and I had just asked God to 'help me', and prayed "Our Father"!🤗

Other than seeing Jesus as our Lord & Savior, I see him as our hope & his message of our possible salvation to sinners like myself…. And I am “hoping” that I can be like the person who is able to touch his cape, robe or whatever, then Jesus noticing someone has done so he stops and tells this person…. Well you know
Your hope in the Lord is like you touching his robe, because I believe hope comes from faith and these two virtues feed, and are derived from love! We are all weak, and are sinners, but God in his mercy can’t help but love and heal us in our brokenness. We just have to be open to it.

I'm glad this was on my notifications...I'm newely confirmed since Easter vigil..did my 1st confession 3 days before and it was 11/2hrs. Of brutal honesty and yet I still missed some things...I confessed with Jesus but never a priest in this 5 yr journey back to the Roman Catholic faith...I'm struggling and my head is always on my sins and I always am falling short sometimes I think maybe I need a excersism because of the 50 yrs of sins...the worst is my head (probably the devil)says you'll never be redeemed but it seems that... yes the Ft. Is the conduit to our Lord to forgive and do penance but seems I cannot forgive myself I think,as I cry a lot and it pulls me back to sin...I hate the devil and I'm finding it hard (but worth it) the suffering and to suffer with Him..i have suffered mentally and physically for years now spiritually....I'm glad I saw this video and will make a appointment for confession and maybe to talk thru it with the priest to dust myself off and keep going forward! I love saying my rosary and meditating on that every morning along with reading the bible that on its own helps and keeps me focused on Him and the Blessed Mother!

If we consider the fourth Sorrowful mystery, Jesus struggled to walk through the streets to Calvary. Beaten and exhausted, He carried that heavy, painful cross.
But along that path some stepped in to help him such as Simone of Cyrene to relieve His burden of the Cross, Veronica to clear His eyes of blood and tears, and Mary who didn't need words to communicate.
As a man, Jesus needed help trying to get through this painful part of His journey and God sent these people to give Him some relief. I'm sure Jesus knew that "with His grace, [He] could do this"
Somewhat of a parallelism of how Jesus had to get through this tremendous struggle.
I think people respond to being challenged to do better and be better than they currently are and this is what attracted the greatest sinners in history to follow Jesus. And this is where we fall short today in evangelizing people. We think that challenging people causes them to not be attracted to the Christian message when it's actually the opposite
