Nice design; however, the fire pit in the living space narrows the application for many if not most people

Love the design. I'd utilise the center room's space a bit better, like a small desk for the pc, comfy couches, & move the fire pit to the back garden.
    One day...

The house is unique, with its spectacular living area, the retractible roof, and all the large windows. It truly celebrates outdoor living! I won't comment on the practicality, since that would vary depending on the climate of where it was built, but the cost would be considerable. The glass over the living space would surely have to be in several sections, and the heat gain/loss would be substantial. I am puzzled by the huge bathroom that is not accessed by a bedroom. That bath, along with the laundry room and hallway might be reconfigured to just a powder room, laundry, and to add a pantry. But the plan is interesting!

Certainly not for a Aspen (too cold) or Scottsdale (too hot). Agree with the heat gain / loss. At least the shubs are gone. Liking the laundry / powder room / pantry idea combo. No thought into possible solar panel addition on the corner slider panels.

This design is pretty interesting and I do love the idea of opening up the huge skylights. Am thinking of the mosquito issues in the summer...LOL! And washing those skylights.... hmmm?
The one thing I never can understand is the glass doors on the bedroom and kitchen cabinets and closets?? I would hate looking at a messy closet in a beautiful bedroom, and lets face it... unless this is a vacation home, used only for weekends, those closets will eventually become untidy and make the entire room look awful. If you have a few beautiful dishes to display, maybe in the kitchen, but I would much rather have solid cabinets!

Couldn't agree more. Practicality should be at the forefront of the design.

It is unique. But I would prefer skylights not opening roofs due to possible leaks down the road. Maybe opening roof will work better on the porch.
I would convert guest bathroom into a smaller bedroom/home office, and make the laundry room into a guest bathroom. Put a roof over front and back porch and put a small laundry area in the back porch.

Other problem would be if there's anything on the roof and then it gets inside, like little rocks, leaves, snow or even poop of animals and birds!

Why three bathroom? There is two rooms with a bathroom each. Only need a powder room with toilet extra in the house, the third bathroom could better be used as an extra room for office and library

Quite unique but with all the room, I expected a 3rd BR. Love the 2 baths though. Wouldn’t want the roof opening. I don’t want wasp nests to have to clean off the high ceiling. Honestly, I don’t care for this home.

Rare to see any parking - garage or carport - in these plans, separate or attached.

Looks great but ! With the roof sliding under the roof that means those lounge walls cannot be load bearing
Some serious amounts of engineering required to make this happen and that’s $$$$$$$. How long can u realistically expect the weather seals connected to the moving roof parts to perform at 100% ???
I’d keep the glass ditch the motorised roof and all its weathertightness challenges have a heat n light shield that consatinas back to the internal walls.

No thanks. Looks great in a computer rendering. What could possibly go wrong? For starters, what happens when the foundation settles and the roof can't slide back and forth smoothly? And even when it works, it will never be air sealed well enough to keep the heat in and the rain out.
And it's on a big enough plot of land, why not just have a nice outdoor fire pit with a few chairs?

The living room looks like a pagan place of worship. And what is the point of opening the roof?
