    I put 285 65R20s on it and even they rub on the sway bar. I’m a bit upset that the Toyota documentation suggests that size is acceptable. Only rubs fully cranked but still.

      Well damn. That’s what I planned on going with… maybe a more negative wheel offset would help. Thanks for the feedback 🤙

    • @jeremiahbarberphotography
      @jeremiahbarberphotography  Рік тому +1

      I thought that too, but from what I can tell, any change in offset will likely cause rubbing on wheel well.

      @@jeremiahbarberphotography Any regrets with your setup? Deciding if I should follow through with the install or not… it’s absurd there’s still rubbing with that tire/wheel setup

      Eh, I might have stuck with 275 65R20s had I known they would rub. No huge regrets though. It looks good. Just can’t crank it all the way left or right. And to be clear the new tires were added after the video was taken.

    Or you can just not install the sway bar spacers… 🤷🏼‍♂️, won’t affect anything

    Ugh.. I have this same problem to deal with now. I hate to leave the bar exposed like that but I guess its better than leaving everything else exposed too.

      Don’t use the sway bar drop brackets and you’ll be golden

      I've heard the ride is pretty rough if you don't use the sway bar drop brackets@@staceygoodale6427

      That’s what the dealership did with my truck. All is good!

    Same issue here. Did you consider spacers? Thanks

    Do you plan on throwing some bigger tires on? I read online that anything bigger than 285/65R20 will rub on the sway bar with this kit. I see a lot of conflicting info on if it can fit true 35s with the stock wheel offset.

      Can’t see that I ever answered this. I put 285 65R20s on and they rub significantly on the sway bar when turning. I just put new rims on with a 20mm offset and that seems to have fixed it

    Any issues after 9 months of operation? About to copy your mod to the TRD skid plate with the 3" factory lift.

    • @jeremiahbarberphotography
      @jeremiahbarberphotography  4 місяці тому

      No issues. Unless the dealership does your service and forgets to tighten three of the bolts, then you’ll hear popping when you turn until you tighten them back up:)

      Do you have any aluminum corrosion where you made the cuts?

    Just ordered that TRD lift kit. I also have the TRD skid plate and was hoping there was a way to make it work. I guess this answers that!
    Have you had any issues with rattling or with the sway bar making contact?

    • @jeremiahbarberphotography
      @jeremiahbarberphotography  Рік тому

      I haven’t noticed anything, no.

      @@jeremiahbarberphotography Hey just an update. I just had the TRD lift kit installed at my local dealer. I ended up getting 18x9 Method MR316’s with +18 offset wrapped in Toyo AT3’s in 35x12.5” tires. There is zero rub with this setup even with the larger tires. In case you ever want to throw bigger tires on, the +18 offset wheels seem to do the trick. That or a wheel spacer if you wanna keep the stock ones.

    • @jeremiahbarberphotography
      @jeremiahbarberphotography  Рік тому

      @@CodCraVe great, so it doesn't rub in the wheel wells at all either? When I measured it seemed like it would. But you're sure you're getting nothing there either then? If so I might throw some spacers on.
      Thanks!

    • @CodCraVe
      @CodCraVe Рік тому

      Correct, no rubbing in the wheel well. I did pin back the rear of the fender liner with a zip tie which is super easy. I talked to a guy on the Tundra forums and he had the stock wheels with a 1" spacer (same tires you have) and he said he was still rubbing his sway bar. Perhaps its the 5.75" backspacing and the +18mm offset of my Method wheels that cures the rub issue. YMMV. Not sure if you had an alignment done after throwing the new tires on as that could affect your camber.

    wow, factory lift kit without factory skid plate is crazy! so lame. why cannot use spacers to clear the trd skid plate over sway and diff drop?

    • @landmarkriskmanagamentinsu7846
      @landmarkriskmanagamentinsu7846 11 місяців тому +1

      You can do that but it will look terrible. It has to come down a lot.

    • @joshcapecod6098
      @joshcapecod6098 11 місяців тому +1

      ‘this is the way’ I guess. No choice that’s a big plate drop to cover the sway which itself is dropped from stock after watching/reading - I was thinking my 2016 skid plate I spaced with 3”
      Lift was barely noticeable and not that much. Not applicable to new gen tundra . I Am ordering a new tundra trying to figure out what packages upfront and what after. This video helped-I’ll buy plate post delivery and skid plate cut myself and toy lift install at dealer post purchase. The 7k package for the factory lift is high and won’t gain a proper skid plate setup anyhow. Don’t want the other stuff in 7k package just the lift and warranty. Oh I Really appreciate the video.

    Any update with the skid plate? Thanks

    • @jeremiahbarberphotography
      @jeremiahbarberphotography  4 місяці тому

      What updates are you looking for? I don't think they have changed anything. I wonder if you didn't put the sway bar spacers in if things would function normally still and the plate would fit.

      @@jeremiahbarberphotography no I mean any issue with mounting the skid plate above the sway bar, any rubbing at all when offroading? I have 3" lift kit and decided to put the sway bar spacer that came with it. The dealer removed the skid plate that I already had but need some protection. thanks

    • @jeremiahbarberphotography
      @jeremiahbarberphotography  4 місяці тому +1

      oh, right. No, there have been no issues. However, the dealership did fail to tighten all of the bolts holding it on after an oil change and it made a popping noise when turning, but tightening those fixed it
