I absolutely love this place really interesting. I am a veteran who served in the British Army for seventeen years and have a real interest in anything military related especially ww1 and ww2. Anyone thinking about visiting the museum you will not be disappointed. But to see everything you will need a couple of days to see everything.
Glad you enjoyed it Robert, I am very sorry in all my excitement I forgot to walk through the WWI trench combat room, but that is an excellent exhibit as well in there.
have you been to the german panzer museum in Münsner??? it's crazy.. but you should ideally know some German to get something out of the tour, since it's only in German (it was the last time I was there)
Hey ! Je bent mijn nieuwe held ! Prachtige enthousiaste kerel ben jij ! Ik ben een Nederlander, en woon vlakbij het Oorlogsmuseum in Overloon, ik weet niet of je daar ooit geweest bent, maar als je ooit in de buurt bent, dan regel ik de "vip" rondleiding ! Thanks mate !
Thank you for a great video. I have visited the tank museum a few times the first in about 1976. Whatever you concsier our short commings with a camera I still think it was a great video so much so that I have subscribed to your channel. I like the Panzer IV also. Thanks again. Chris In Hampshire UK
This is THE place for the big kid in all of us, I was their about 8 years ago, a fabulous day out, in fact you really need 2 days to take it all in, I will be going again in the 18 months or so, glad you enjoyed the Tank museum 😁👍
Been to the museum on three occasions, two of which were 'tankfest 22' and 'Tankfest 24'.... Live in Worthing - about one and a half hours drive away. LOVE this museum and if you get a chance to visit - and catch 'Tankfest' - well worth your time and money ... Your sound and video quality is brill ......
I really do want to attend a tankfest someday, or at least a Tiger day. Video and audio quality is thanks to the wife buying me a DJI Osmo Pocket 3 cam before the trip.
Very good to make a video of the tour...Thanks a lot. After watching your videos I´ve made the Centurion Mklll and the Tiger 1 and the next one in the pipeline is the King Tiger...already purchased. Best regards from Copenhagen, Denmark.
Great video. Really enjoyed one of the great collections. Your enthusiasm shines through. Definitely a must see for tank enthusiasts like me. As you would say very "cool". Did you buy any souvenirs? Many thanks
Glad you made it and it wasn't too wet. Great to see Toni. I won't be the "actually ..." guy (even though you asked me) but I didn't see too many errors.
Good morning my friend, that was a truly excellent tour around Bovington, I was in the UK some years ago stsying in Rochester and only had time to go to Duxford, so missed out on Bovington, you must come down to Cairns Australia and see the Australian Armour and Artillery Museum, best regards from Australia, Les
Hi Les, I had the opposite problem, I was unable to find time to go to Duxford, if I make it to Australia one day I will do my best to visit, glad you enjoyed the video mate!
I hope you managed to go the Royal Engineers Museum just up the road from Rochester in Brompton. Rochester is the Corps of Royal Engineers home town with the Cathedral being the Corps 'church'. The Cathedral was ' built ' by the Father of The Corps , Bishop Gundolf.
@@joncawte6150 Shame I did not have enough free days to do other military history museums I was also desperately hoping to visit Duxford, but that will have to wait for my next visit.
@@joncawte6150 as it so happens I did get to go to The Royal Engineers Museum, as I was staying with a friend in Rochester, and his daughter was working there at the time, I would really like to come back to the UK, best regards from a Kiwi living in Australia, Les
The 'winter' camouflage you pointed out in the Con Hall was Berlin Brigade Cam from the Cold War. Although it wasn't a particularly effective camouflage in hiding the vehicles, it was used to 'confuse' the Soviets as to numbers or strength of the Berlin Brigade and their locations. This was achieved by painting the vehicles types in the same standardised pattern, meaning all the Chieftains were painted identically, all the Land Rovers were painted identically and so. Supposedly, a vehicle could be in more than one place at a time because they all looked the same and no one could identify the particular troop, company, section/squad or whatever.
When I was there in July I think it was open for a few hours during a normal day but I didn't have time to see in it there is so much else there to see, but my ticket is valid for a year so I be back late spring/early summer in 25.
Would love to see this museum in person, probably the only reason I want to go to England. Otherwise I do want to see the Australian Armour and Artillery Museum.
Great video for those that have never been but you entered the museum the wrong way around, up the slope and turn right to see the evolution from ww1 onwards
Thank you Kevin, and yes I took a left when I should have gone right, I blame my bladder after the long train ride out there as the bathroom was in that direction and then I saw the main hall and went hummingbird mode.
wow that place has changed since I spent hours in there as kid in the 90's. Dad worked with Mod and I was dropped off totally unaccompanied for hours while he did stuff at the junior leaders establishment nearby
@@PitstainHobbies dude in those days they almost encouraged small boys to climb on tanks, and living where i did growing up i saw all of the prototype challenger vehicles running on test tracks as a three year old only to meet them again when we moved to dorset some years later, it was still a test and evaluation centre back then, people were still learning from the exhibits so you used to be able to tag along with the young soldiers and get the lectures, if you were an invisible boy

Certainly is a jolly day out👍👍. I went for the Tiger 🐅 collection 👍👍,heavy that you couldn't get close to 131 . When I went Fury was in the garage broken so didn't see it😭😭😭😭.
Seeing as it is a museum with working tanks the odds of all being in the same spot at once might not be very common. I am happy I got to see the Tiger and Fury both dirty from recent use.
Thank you so much, I was still getting used to the active gimbal on the pocket 3, but I will say this was the smoothest moving footage I have ever been able to achieve.
I live in the Netherlands. In 2002 I visited this museum. Seems to have changed a lot since then! Did you visit any other British war museums? I can highly recommend the Imperial War Museum in London and it's various branches in other parts of the country, like the Duxford branch near Cambridge. It is an airforce museum that used to be a fighter base during the Battle of Britain in 1940. It has a nice exhibition on this subject with an actual command center from that era. There is also a seperate building which houses the largest collection of American military planes outside the USA! Exhibits include a B52D and a F111 from the Vietnam era. In London itself you can also find the Royal Airforce Museum. There are so many great war related musea in Britain! In the Netherlands itself we have the Overloon Museum, which I can highly recommend. Every year they organise the Millitracks event, in which they show mainly German tanks, halftracks and other stuff in working order.
We did not have the spare time to visit all the other museums I wanted to but did get to the Churchill war rooms and transport museum which were both quite nice.
The Panther and Jadgpanther were built after the war under supervision of the British for testing trials, the panther found under the basement in Germany was also another British built tank.
