I think I am the only guy in Texas on a Harley and wearing a Dainese jacket and a helmet. Definitely get some funny looks from the Reeeaaal bikers when I am at my dealership. If I showed up rocking some Icon gear they may have an aneurysm.
I mean that wearing gear gets you weird looks on a cruiser smarty pants. Although wearing nothing gets you a completely normal look of shock from others so it isn't weird at all.
Need a nice set of bright ass neon Icon gear for the ride to the Harley shop. I got some weird looks when I showed up to test ride a harley with an armored leather jacket, helmet and full gauntlet icon mercs.
The only other suggestion is buy used. There are thousands of people out there who got all geared up for their expected life on motorcycles, rode twice, then sold the bike. Just please never buy a used helmet.
Exactly! I got into riding about 2 months ago and I got an AGV Corsa for 250 Euro, barely used since the owner directly bought another 1000 Dollar Shoei. Then a two-piece Dainese Suit for 200 Euros (only one season used) got scraped kneesliders but hey, these are replacable. So I essentially got 1700 Euros worth of gear for 450, which is a huge bargain.. its crazy how much gear just waits to be bought from wealthy midlife crisis businessmen who thought they found a new hobby and directly gave up on it.
You’re right. Buy a racesuit (don’t know the right word for it) from Held for just 480 Euro. Just 1 old, perfect conditions and normale a pricetag of 1100 Euro. Sometimes it’s worth to look seconds hand.
Im 16 and starring to work towards my riding license and bike, im getting a yzf-r125 because all i can have is a 125cc while im 16 and u have really helped me understand riding and ur pretty funny while doing it😁, also because of you iv been doing more research and have a pretty easy path to getting my bike, should be riding it by the end of my summer holidays😀
Hey Yammie, AGVSPORT (jeans and other gear manufacturer) and AGV (Italian helmet manufacturer) are two different companies even though Italian AGV allow AGVSPORT to produce gear under their name and logo. So, AGVSPORT is an American company, AGV is an Italian company. That's the reason AGV helmets are so good looking and stylish and these jeans are loose and american-cut (i.e. fugly unless you're a gixxer bruh lol).
>airmada best bang per buck helmet at $250 do NOT buy an icon helmet, forreal. icon may be "american" but their helmets are made at the J-tech factory in china and are crappy plastic buckets marked up twice what they should be. The only thing they have going for them, which is the *only* reason people buy them is the graphics. For $250 you can get: a Scorpion (410, 420, or 710 they're literally all better and have Snell racing certification + MUCH better venting and features), an AGV k3 which has much better aerodynamics going for them (and some decent graphics too), hell, you could even get into a Bell Star for $250 now that they went on closeout making room for the new star MIPS helmets, or even an HJC cl-17 and also have snell certification just don't buy one of those garbage icons, you'll find yourself with a much better helmet
Just got a Ninja 400 necessitating a new riding wardrobe different from the one for the Harley 1200 Sportster. Still kinda cool out up here so went with a Alpinestars Motegi one piece suit, a deal at C$784. Glad I had it on at highway speeds tho will reassess come summer.I have lost more than 100 lbs in the last two years so a gift to me and a reminder to keep it off . Starting to feel like it belongs on me. Besides no one can tell I am 62 in July with all that on. Gearhound DNA given I play both goal and defense in ice hockey five days a week until Covid.the more the better .Not one piece in common for the two positions
I can personally attest to the icon overlord jacket. I had a really bad wreck last June and it saved my hide. Without it I’d have been much worse off. And speed and strength helmet considering I locked up he front brake to avoid another bike who turned in front of me landing straight on my face
when i started ridding i wore all cheap stuff and tried to not spend any money but really not worth it think about it this way ... you can buy any old car for 500 it will get you from a-b but you rather go in a ferrari. i wear Dainese top to bottom now i think they are the best brand in the market and i think they are the safest too . its not about the looks , its more confortable the assistence i had with alpinestars was poor nothing against dainese so far . if you have the money buy it its the best IN MY OPINION
I'm a Ducati owner, so I generally fit the stereotype of "All Dainese, All The Time" and spent more on my current Power Ranger costume than I did on my first bike... but I do have a bunch of casual gear that I wear with my slow bikes: S&S Rust and Redemption jeans, TCX X-Square boots, Dainese 4 Stroke EVO gloves, and a Dainese Street Master jacket... me helmet is that super breezy HJC RPHA 11 Pro. That bucket has a ton of features and excellent ventilation, but it's noisy as fuck.
I only carry a cheese grater. Just in case I low side and suffer no road rash but feel the need to punish myself for harming the beautiful bike. 4$ at local discount store. Gear up people or pack some hamburger helping just in case you go down like Brittany but hopefully not as often or hard.
Having recently decided its about time I finally fly the 'daughter of a biker nest' and bought my own two wheeled bringer of joy, I've definitely fallen down the bike gear rabbit hole and I'm pretty sure this video has my bank account crying tears of utter joy! Thankfully i've already got a pretty sweet Arai helmet as a gift from dad (I'm assuming it was a gentle nudge into getting my own so I'm not riding pillion anymore!) and it does indeed feel like the interior of a BMW wrapping itself around my head. My question to you, good sir would be, do you know if the Icon gear would be a good fit for ladies? Unfortunately for me, but fortunately for my boyfriend I'm rather blessed in the chest department and am having trouble finding jackets that will fit, not feel like I'm wearing a corset and give me decent protection without having to spend enough to put a downpayment on a house! If you or any commenters have any suggestions I would be eternally grateful and so would my bank account... I don't care how it looks as i'm much more interested in being comfortable and safe but if it comes in a black option thats even better! I live in England so considering our oh so famous weather (constant rain...) something with some degree of water resistance would be great as I will be commuting as well as riding for fun! Love your videos, thank you for teaching us all how to avoid looking like a fuckwit in such an entertaining way!
Bought 3 icon products in my life. Icon patrol gloves, Icon overlord gloves and Icon reign boots. I have a separate hot weather set of gear I mostly use, reign and patrol were for cold weather so I used them a lot less. Still, in less than a season, the gloves tore at the seams because of the velcro patch and the right boot's zipper splits open during riding. The Overlord gloves are still in one piece but in less than 2 months they were looking like I crawled through the trenches with them. Sorry but my opinion of Icon is they make shit products. Revit, Dainesse, TCX, AlpineStars and Scorpion, not a single problem with these brands, good products. Revit and TCX are actually great for the money IMHO. Icon and Cardo have garbage products, you might get something good but there's no guarantee of quality with their name.
You forgot short motorcycle shoes to wear under the jeans (kevlar). Those high TCX boots look ridiculous under anything other than a leather suit. Alpinestars has decent shoes that just cover the ankle, some even with sliders and all. Also a 2 piece suit makes it easier to mix and match for street/track use ;)
Those boots fit just fine under jeans. I have a pair of Sidis that are very similar to those TCX and they fit just fine under my riding jeans and you wouldn't know they were full boots. You just have your pant leg over the boot not tucked in.
I have a used Dainese Rally jacket, it's almost perfect and I bought it for 30 bucks. The seller stopped riding and wanted to pass on the joy of riding, instead of ripping off a new rider.
got an agv gt veloce for 210€, dainese veloster 2 piece suit for 500€, some random boots on a second hand store(brand new tho) for 50€ and gloves same, on a local moto gear shop for 40€(with decent knuckle protection and stuff)
I have the Bull-It SR4 riding jeans, they are comfortable, should be pretty protective, have yet to test them (hopefully never have to), but from reading reviews a few people have and they have saved their skin ... for Yammie's skin collection. They also have armor pockets and the Icon D3O knee armor is a perfect fit. They are also on the warm side, which for riding in Colorado is fine, Texas might be another story.
I live in N. Nevada. I have a "summer" riding jacket. By Mid-June, it will be in the closet until Oct. It's just to dang hot. I'll wear the slide pants, but not the jacket. Just can't tolerate it.
I approve of the GPX gloves, used mine for 3 good years. excellent gloves, I did a video review of them too, yes, I am shamelessly plugging myself here.
well I got a really good deal on my gear... 50% off on my helmet, gloves, inner gloves (when its cold), shoes and a canister of hydrophobic spray to make my gear water proof and still be able to breathe. I saved 280 euro on that and then my jacket and pants where 20% off and the backprotector I put in my alpinestars jacket was 10% off. so.... I dont know if I could get it any cheaper haha
I prefer my alpinestars motegi, looks better (just my oppinion), but it is way more comfortable(it has a more upright position) while still being track ready. It also is 150€ cheaper ;)
Lamby dude droping KnOlEdGe on da new riders. I appreciate the wisdom papa yams but I have a question... Is Sumo life??? Could we define Sumo? How much is a Sumo? Does it taste like Turkey? Please up vote I NEED answers badly 🙏 till then ill pray to Travis Pastromi and Clint whole wig for more squid powers.
sumo is life! sumo is 17's and 8+" of suspension travel, sumo is single cylinder, and sumo is expensive for more bore. Yamaha WR250X SUMO is a good start to sumo life.
I have a few pieces of Dainese, they aren't very good quality. Astars kills them in quality. this video is hilarious... I'm up to about $10,000 in gear so far this year... and I ride a $1,500 sv650 4- helmets 2- race suits 6- pairs of gloves a mesh suit 3 pairs of boots 2 jackets 2 pants tons of armor 4 undersuits
Really? I've tried a few Astars jackets and trousers and there is no comparison, when it comes to textile I go Astars but for leather Dainese is just leagues ahead.
Bruh, who tf is just starting and spends $100+ on gloves? I'm all about good protection, but I'll stick with some $50 cycle gear deals. Other than that yes, just yes
Honestly, going down without hand protection is like swatting your hand into a 40 grit sand belt running at full speed haha. Bound to shred half your skin off, break fingers, wrist, etc. Some decent protection for an extra $50 will go a long way.
Sena or Cardo or nothing at all. If your seriously looking to get a helmet communicator on the cheap then go for an older unit like an Sena SMH5 or SMH10. You can get one for around $100-150. I bought a cheap no name bluetooth com and it was horrible, compared to the Sena units.
Why the icon airmada? I mean yes it’s dot and Ece Rated. But it only has a 2 star rating from sharp 🤷🏼♂️ a better choice would be the Hjc C70 it’s also Ece rated has 5 stars from sharp and its arround the same price.
already got a jacket... wish someone would say more about pants, that is the next hurtle, got a helmet, got boots, got gloves, I bought a cheap Viking jacket (79) but I am looking for pants, and I found some cheap green colored jeans that claim the have Kevlar too, around the hips, hell, I am an old newbie back on a 250 cuz I am recovering from 9 hours of brain surgery... never bought motorcyle pants before... I get the helmet, now i get the jacket, I need to find a pair of mc pants that wont cost arm & leg (i live on a 980 widowers benefit form SS (& darling first wife who went through a windsheild) God lover her (Idid))) anyway, please dont assume we all got credit card noob... we don't... but, If i am going to ride this bike all winter for the next 12 months, (and the crainoplastic patch is blocking my left peripheral vision, and DMV passed my vision test when I took the MC test so I will ride almost every day)... anyway, please give a little more basics on how to select an inexpensive pair of pants, how to compare the pads, I am NEW to all of this... thanks man... I do appreciate your sense of humor btw!!!!
Are those kevlar jeans sufficient protection or would you suggest the padded pants if it's just everyday use commuting to work? Obviously anything padded will be safer, but if I could avoid having to completely change at work that would be awesome
Alpinestars: The sister of the classy girl who is just as hot and a slightly cheaper date. Icon: The tatted up chick with neon green hair who is a surprisingly cheap date. Klim: The outdoorsy chick who is maybe a little above average looking but has shockingly expensive tastes.
I know I’m late but hear me out on this one. For a great deal on a suit that will fit the same for a fraction of the price try on women’s track suits. Same suit and usually on discount because they don’t sell very well to women. The number for size will be weird but trust me it’s the same suit. Plus men’s and women’s suits both have camel toe feature as they will strangle your junk.
Hey, you've got some good gear recommendations for sure. But if you could do me a favour, if not in this video, but in any future videos, try to link motorcycle shops for gear? Amazon has no interest in seeing the hobby flourish. Places like Motorcycle Closeouts, RevZilla, Langston Motorsports, etc etc have a vested interest in seeing motorcycling being the best it can be, and they often use the money they make selling gear to organize rides and events. I know Motorcycle Closeouts is usually within a couple bucks of Amazon, and the money goes back to riders, not some corporate conglomerate that wants to automate everything, which will ultimately take away riding. They also sell a lot of "last year's" models for a huge discount. They're local to me, so I've spent way too much time in their store, and I know they have the Fly Terra Trek 2 for $80. I own this jacket and have been down to 4F in it, and had a comfortable torso. Compared to the Terra Trek 4 at $180, which is still a fair price, you're getting a TON of jacket for the money. Fly F2 Carbon's for $180, Five RFX1 for $100. They're where I get all my gear.
do your research b4 buying......icon helmets, never a chance in hell.....shell sizes are huge, rip your friggen ears off getting them off and on and headshape fits but select few......however icon does make decent gear, look for closeouts and shop multiple sources.....picked up a Astars faster airflow leather summer jacket for less than a textile one and Astars celer leather for winter for 50% off......aside from my helmet everything was bought on sale or closeout but yeah overall its not a cheap sport.......if you absolutely have to have it right now you will pay too much......and have you seen used gear prices, lol.....more than new
I have a GS500E as my first bike and I love it. It's simple to operate and maintain, not too powerful that I shit myself during normal riding but powerful enough to be far from boring, and you can forsure scare yourself on it (I've found power comes on HARD at 6k RPMs, it feels like a bigass turbo, normal acceleration, normal acceleration, normal acceler-AAAAAAAAHAHAHAHHOLYSHITHAHAHA type feeling) I think it's a great first choice although I'm definitely biased (;
This is just plain stupid everyone knows you only wear gear if you plan on crashing
You wont know how good your leathers are until your corpse is being pulled from a bush
If ya ded ya ain't care
Screw that! I'm planning on crashing and NOT wearing gear. Top that!

No gear is the cheapest gear
Tank, shorts and flip-flops all a Hoon needs!
Not in the USA or other third world countries, where you have to pay the treatment of your injuries.
Weltenspinner LPs it's only fair
@@WeItenspinner you don't have to pay for your injuries if you die
@@tz6865 Don't blame me if you fall off and strip a layer of skin from your legs......afterall it's your choice.

I feel like you get weird looks if you wear anything while riding a cruiser.
so if you wear nothing while riding a cruiser, then you get no weird looks? ok good, will remember that next time lol

John ikr
So, If you DON'T have skin, did you wait just a little too long to start wearing gear?

sumo is life! sumo is 17's and 8+" of suspension travel, sumo is single cylinder, and sumo is expensive for more bore. Yamaha WR250X SUMO is a good start to sumo life.
Mr Nine :D ive been enlightened!!!
I have a few pieces of Dainese, they aren't very good quality. Astars kills them in quality.
this video is hilarious... I'm up to about $10,000 in gear so far this year... and I ride a $1,500 sv650
4- helmets
2- race suits
6- pairs of gloves
a mesh suit
3 pairs of boots
2 jackets
2 pants
tons of armor
4 undersuits
Really? I've tried a few Astars jackets and trousers and there is no comparison, when it comes to textile I go Astars but for leather Dainese is just leagues ahead.
You must be single
Bruh, who tf is just starting and spends $100+ on gloves? I'm all about good protection, but I'll stick with some $50 cycle gear deals. Other than that yes, just yes
But they add an extra 20 Horsepower to your bike...
Blake Spencer you could get gloves for free if you you are brave enough
Mechanix gloves here I'm talking about like $5
Fives ftw. Worth every penny
Honestly, going down without hand protection is like swatting your hand into a 40 grit sand belt running at full speed haha. Bound to shred half your skin off, break fingers, wrist, etc. Some decent protection for an extra $50 will go a long way.
Imma need one of dem Porsche topping pizzas stat
Great vid
I luvs the papa yamm.
ive had the icon jacket and the alpine gloves and crashed in them more than twice. alpinestar tends to make their gear better with each year.
I plan to just buy some checker vans for my shoes I'm only really worried about a helmet jacket and maybe gloves
I just got a Laguna seca 4 for 850, I swear that RevZilla deal is the only reason I got a suit atm
Good video!!!
1:25 Motokiklé !!! That dainese diss though ....
Why the icon airmada? I mean yes it’s dot and Ece Rated. But it only has a 2 star rating from sharp 🤷🏼♂️ a better choice would be the Hjc C70 it’s also Ece rated has 5 stars from sharp and its arround the same price.
Motorcycle advice from a self proclaimed "noob", makes sense to me.
The bt-s2's charge port breaks. Guaranteed.
I know because I had two of them.. both had the same problem.
MotoKeekleh - bahahaha

FACTS!
1:42 well hello idubbz
already got a jacket... wish someone would say more about pants, that is the next hurtle, got a helmet, got boots, got gloves, I bought a cheap Viking jacket (79) but I am looking for pants, and I found some cheap green colored jeans that claim the have Kevlar too, around the hips, hell, I am an old newbie back on a 250 cuz I am recovering from 9 hours of brain surgery... never bought motorcyle pants before...
I got that neon green icon overlord jacket and I love it
Are those kevlar jeans sufficient protection or would you suggest the padded pants if it's just everyday use commuting to work? Obviously anything padded will be safer, but if I could avoid having to completely change at work that would be awesome
Dainese: the classy girl with the best moves but loves expensive dinners.
Is she the best? Hell yes. Is she worth it? Damn right.
Thank you flappy dude
Yammie u were weird af in this video I loved it
M O T O C I C L E, pretty sure this is the meme daddy of motorciccles
The funniest gear review I've ever watched

They're where I get all my gear.
do your research b4 buying......icon helmets, never a chance in hell.....shell sizes are huge, rip your friggen ears off getting them off and on and headshape fits but select few......however icon does make decent gear, look for closeouts and shop multiple sources.....picked up a Astars faster airflow leather summer jacket for less than a textile one and Astars celer leather for winter for 50% off......aside from my helmet everything was bought on sale or closeout but yeah overall its not a cheap sport.......if you absolutely have to have it right now you will pay too much......and have you seen used gear prices, lol.....more than new
gs500 or er5?
can't decide on first bike
Ttr50
‘90s cb500, sv650, fazer, hornet..
I have a GS500E as my first bike and I love it. It's simple to operate and maintain, not too powerful that I shit myself during normal riding but powerful enough to be far from boring, and you can forsure scare yourself on it (I've found power comes on HARD at 6k RPMs, it feels like a bigass turbo, normal acceleration, normal acceleration, normal acceler-AAAAAAAAHAHAHAHHOLYSHITHAHAHA type feeling) I think it's a great first choice although I'm definitely biased (;
What do you think about the HWK jacket and pants on Amazon?
Scorpion exo 1200 air Best Helmet Ever
I literally just got two of these things today before watching this..
Thanks daddy Yammy
