I was 22 when I burnt 65% of my body with gas. Was in the burn unit for about 3 months. Please tell Kevin that when his hands feel like they are asleep to keep them moving constantly to keep them mobile. He is in my prayers, nobody should ever have to go through that.
My husband was in a roll over truck accident years ago. It caught fire and he had to kick the windshield out while the fire was surrounding him. He had to have skin grafts .It's a very painful and stressful recovery. Praying for your friend. 🙏🏼
My husband just did the same thing a few months ago. He started a fire with gasoline and had first and second creep burns on his face and his forearm. That he healed rather quickly and no infection set in. So we were thankful.

I was very young when I had been burned from bacon grease on fire.... It took well over a year to heal & weekly visits to the doctors. Baby goats are adorable... the little twins are so cute.

My cousin at sixteen was working in a garage on a car. What they didn’t know the hot water heater was leaking fumes and seeping into the garage, where they were using gas to try to get the carburetor to run right. The fumes from the hot water heater seeping into the garage from the laundry room area that sat in the house at the door entry to the garage from the house. Well the garage exploded and my cousin and his friend were exploded . My cousin did 🛑 stop, dropped and rolled. His parents had just got there and had blankets in the car. So they patted him down as well. He was flown to the hospital. He ended up there for over a year. Very painful treatment. The other young man saw himself in the stainless pitcher and it threw him into shock, he died. My cousin loss his ears, nose, lips, and his hands were melted together. They used skin grafts from his buttocks and bottom calf of his legs. He has lived to his mid 70’s . He did get married and had a family. Boy he went through a lot through the years. Prayers for Kevin’s speedy full recovery! My Dad was a captain for LACity fire, and he always told me that being burned was the worst thing possible. I did have one of the old time pressure cookers explode on me. Fortunately it scared me so bad I turned my face away and fell on the floor. I had a light burn on my face, but mostly on my arms. It wasn’t as bad as Kevin’s burns, but boy it hurt bad. So I kinda know how he feels. I’m sure he is in immense pain. So my prayers are with him to recover quickly and with as little pain as possible! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
I have such a fear of fire. It is so horrible to be burned and painful. As a nurse, I could not work in the burning unit, but I did hear the screens coming from the burn unit when they debrided patient. I will never forget it and I pray pray that this manrecovers and his family is blessed. My tears are for his recovery.

Thoughts and prayers for his recovery! We had one of our local boy scouts decades ago get severe burns after squirting Coleman lantern/stove fuel on a campfire and the fire followed the stream up and the can exploded....taught my kids and the ones I had in scouting to not squirt fuel on a fire after it was going just for that reason.

I have worked with a guy who has done the same thing with the gas. It burnt 80% of his body. He did mend, so yes, it is in GOD'S hands. Kevin and his family are in my prayers. The kids could have PTSD.
An an ER nurse of 25 + years the worse I had ever seen was a little old lady about 77 years old burning trash. She had a nylon night dress on and bless her heart she threw the trash in and turned to walk away and tripped on a can and fell back into the barrel knocking it over and it caught her whole back side on fire melting that nylon into her skin from her neck to her ankles and the back of her head. The front of her looked totally normal. As country people we do it all the time and don’t think about it or didn’t. After that we got rid of our burn barrel. God bless Him and his family. I heard about him up here in ADA. Definitely praying for a full recovery. 🖤💙🖤🇺🇸🙏

I had a cousin that pick up a gas can to place on the camper. It exploded as soon as he picked it up and was severely burned. His clothes melted into his skin, the only part of him that wasn't burned was from his ankle to his feet. His ankles and feet were spared was because of his leather boots. He spent many months in the burn center. He did recover after many many months. After that he was always the first to respond to a fire. His decision to respond drove my aunt crazy but he told her I never want anyone to experience what I went through.
One of my most favorite farming family. I got to meet them at the OK fair this year and they are just the kindest, most funny people you'll ever meet. I think, it was the same day she went down on the scooter or day after. I was sitting there waiting on family and heard a voice that made me look. I sat there a sec kind of in shock, I think. But I got to speak with them, and he is funny. Even though she was in pain she showed she is one tough cookie, lol. So, if you ever get the chance to say hi, do it.
See Steph I told you because of your quick reaction to those two baby goats and moving them into the small barn under the heat lamps and calling Brandon in and you two helping the babies to eat that they would be ok. Thank you for posting this, as hard as it was to see and hear about. It's a really good lesson for folks who may not consider how dangerous his actions were. As you said, you may have done this type of thing a lot of times in the past, and so had he, without incident, but it's a real possibility that it could end up this bad or even worse if a person uses gasoline of anything like it to start a fire. I can remember almost having a complete fit a few times at my son's lake cabin when he would squirt gas on the camp fire to get it going - I remember how he just thought I was a worry wort and laughed it off. DANG IT - as a mother, no matter how old your kids are, there are just certain things that make you cringe!!! Just the other day we got a picture and comment about my "stepson" being in an accident on FB (they live in VA and we live in MN) and it showed his car with practically the entire front end demolished. Someone blew a red light and hit him at about 55 miles an hour. Then another picture of him sitting in the hospital filling out paperwork and being checked out. Apparently he is really really sore, but not critically injured. I would say he was very very lucky. But I know how we felt seeing that picture and thinking what the outcome COULD HAVE been!!! Definitely will keep your friend in my prayers for a complete recovery!!! 🙏🙏🙏

@ my oldest daughter Robin and her husband are both paramedics here in Manatee county and Robin is also a Supervisor over all the paramedics. Billy her husband, a paramedic for over 30 years ran two private ambulance companies until this year when he joined the county with Robin. my youngest daughter Sally is a nurse practitioner and her husband is an ER doctor. They live in Apollo Beach in the county above us. My one granddaughter is a 911 operator for Manatee county and my youngest granddaughter has started her training to also be a 911 operator here in Manatee county. Brandon, both my Dad and my husband use to make a “ sauce” for fire starter. They would mix the diesel with sawdust into a gallon bucket. Then when we would have to start a fire either in the wood stove or on a burn pile you just put a scoop on the kindling or whatever.
Kelly and I are continuing our prayers for him and I believe prayers work. God has blessed me this week myself I have been overdoing it and got a active brain bleed did not know I had it, but I made it to the hospital in time. They got it under control this was on Monday. Today is Friday and I’m doing good but tell him and his family we are praying.

I can remember almost having a complete fit a few times at my son's lake cabin when he would squirt gas on the camp fire to get it going - I remember how he just thought I was a worry wort and laughed it off. DANG IT - as a mother, no matter how old your kids are, there are just certain things that make you cringe!!! Just the other day we got a picture and comment about my "stepson" being in an accident on FB (they live in VA and we live in MN) and it showed his car with practically the entire front end demolished. Someone blew a red light and hit him at about 55 miles an hour. Then another picture of him sitting in the hospital filling out paperwork and being checked out. Apparently he is really really sore, but not critically injured. I would say he was very very lucky. But I know how we felt seeing that picture and thinking what the outcome COULD HAVE been!!! Definitely will keep your friend in my prayers for a complete recovery!!! 🙏🙏🙏

@ my oldest daughter Robin and her husband are both paramedics here in Manatee county and Robin is also a Supervisor over all the paramedics. Billy her husband, a paramedic for over 30 years ran two private ambulance companies until this year when he joined the county with Robin.
my youngest daughter Sally is a nurse practitioner and her husband is an ER doctor. They live in Apollo Beach in the county above us. My one granddaughter is a 911 operator for Manatee county and my youngest granddaughter has started her training to also be a 911 operator here in Manatee county. Brandon, both my Dad and my husband use to make a “ sauce” for fire starter. They would mix the diesel with sawdust into a gallon bucket. Then when we would have to start a fire either in the wood stove or on a burn pile you just put a scoop on the kindling or whatever.
That is a really good idea for starting fires!

God has blessed me this week myself I have been overdoing it and got a active brain bleed did not know I had it, but I made it to the hospital in time. They got it under control this was on Monday. Prayers for your friend. Thank you for sharing and very important to teach kids young safety of fuel of kind with fire. My oldest boy got burned bad because of wood stove and wearing booted sleepers. Them kind of sleepers from late 1960s was outlawed because of number of kids severely burned.
