I think you are spot on. I love the Shaman, but I was always annoyed with the nub. When I got the Bodacious, I instantly compared the two and felt that the Bodacious fixes all the Shaman issues.
I wish on the Bodacious that Spyderco would have chamfered the edge of the handle scales by its spydie hole so when you go to flick the blade open, it's a smoother transition and not a steep drop off.
Man I agree with you in so many ways. I hate choils. Just eliminate it and bring the handle further up. Bodacious knocked it out of the park. Tall broad blade for longevity through many sharpenings, thin enough to be a slicer but thick enough at the tip to resist breaking (unlike the para 2). Compression lock is fairly tough enough for hard use. (I think the ball bearing lock like on the manix 2 is stronger) but it’s harder to clean. I also agree the flat scales help you grip the knife better, but you get hot spots but that’s the trade off.
I always hated how the Spyderco Shaman has a forward finger choil with a bulbous knob at the front tip of it. When the blade of the Spyderco Shaman is closed in its handle, that bulbous knob sits high up against the compression lock, and it hits your finger as you're disengaging the compression lock and flicking it's blade closed. I used a Dremel tool and carefully ground that bulbous knob off👍 After this review of yours, I definitely getting a Spyderco Bodacious😁
I'm not a fan of Spyderco's stock G10 and how gritty it feels to me. I can't wait for Spyderco to eventually release a Bodacious with a cruwear blade and brown canvas micarta👍
If you want knife that actually cuts, TRM all the way. If you want a fidget toy, get a spyderco. If you want to put torque on a knife, then you get a fixed blade!!
Yeah, I almost forgot that none of my Spydercos can cut a rug. If I want to cut something, then trm is the only one who sharpens the blade. If I want to torque on something, then get a bigger fixed blade knife. Gotcha! Your logic is superior, in every way! I’ll call Spyderco tomorrow and tell them to go ahead and close up shop, because you found the actual knife that cuts things. Thank you 👏🏻
The lock is by no means, superior. And the lock, on a folding lock blade, is kind of a big deal. Bias speaking, instead of factual speaking, rules the internet
I ground the nub off my shaman. After replacing the stock scales with Ultem ones, it now resembles a banana

Yes sir... I couldn't agree with you more... thanks for watching 👍🤝
Any compression lock knife I put a KME on it. But the shaman is one of my Daily drivers
You are correct sir. They made a design flaw on shaman

Love your insights... I'm a fan! Thanks for watching 👍🤝
Love the clip on the shaman. Where’d you get it?

Screw4you on EBAY... Not fast.. takes some time. Made to order... But very nice. Thanks for watching 👍🤝
The Bodacious is almost like a compression lock Native Chief……almost. 👍🏻

Absolutely... Thanks for watching 👍🤝
i honestly dont mind that on shaman

The G-10 on the Bodacious is Smooth Textured G-10. I actually like it but I will switch to Titanium. Thanks for watching 👍🤝
these are points that i never would have thought of. nobody talks about the nub hitting your finger when you close it. thats a dealbreaker for me
You know. That's about all I got out of your presentation.

At this price, I’d rather have a TRM atom. It’s a superior knife in every way
