Jigarthanda is not a remake, but just inspired by the core concept of Dirty Carnival and made more realistic and raw film. In simple terms, Telugu film VALMIKI is the commercial version remake of Jigarthanda. Bachchan Pandey is the Over The Top Masala version of both Jigarthanda and Valmiki

Jaby You can find the connection between Bachan Pandey and Jigarthanda if you watch the telugu version Valmiki/ Gaddalakonda Ganesh. Tamil version is honest. While telugu version is made to appeal to the larger audience, without losing the soul of Jigarthanda. Bachan Pandey team followed the telugu narrative to make it more commercial.

a dirty carnival and jigarthanda where two different movies, Kartick Subaraj took plot line from the dirty carnival . dirty carnival focuses more of rising gangster life and struggles one of the subplots of the movie is a director approaches him to write a gangster story and follows him . where as jigarthanda is story of young director who goes to a gangster town write his story. so we can call it as inspiration but you know about toxic fans they can't appreciate how good jigarthanda as movie and accept bachchhan paandey also good in what it aims at . they need to blame each other , some kartick subaraj fans started trolling bachchhan paandey and akshay kumar fans started trolling jigarthanda as plagrised movie
The antagonist from Jigarthanda, has given another good character in the new movie called "Maahan". Released recently. You can add it to your watchlist 👍

As of what I can make of it is that Jigarthanda was just inspired by the basic plot of dirty carnival, it's not a remake for me. Then a Jigarthanda ( kannada) was also made which was a remake of tamil film by same name. It's more commercial.Then Jaby you missed the telugu version Valmiki which is a remake of Jigarthanda adding few diff stuff and making it a mass commercial film. And Bachchan Pandey is basically Remake of Valmiki ( telugu) adding more overdramatic stuff. So basically Bacchan Pandey is remake Of Valmiki( telugu) which is remake of Kannada version which is remake of Jigarthanda (tamil) which was inspired by dirty carnival.
First the Jigarthanda ( tamil) was made inspired by Dirty carnival. Kannada industry made a remake of the hit film but with a bit of commercial and diff stuff. Telugu film Valmiki came 3 years earlier which was remake with mixed versions of Kannada and tamil as mass commercial stuff. Telugu version seems closer to Kannada version. Once it become hit in Telugu. Bollywood thought of making another remake Bacchan Pandey adding more overdramatic stuff and adding that hindi belt humour. This is the chain of events.

I've seen A Dirty Carnival and I think Bachchan Pandey is a whole different film.
This would've been perfect if u included the trailer of the Telugu remake called Gadalakonda Ganesh and the Kannada remake which is also called Jigarthanda as well 😅

6:31 yes that's what the movie got inspiration from, he(Mr.Karthik Subbaraj) wanted to do a film quiet Tarantino. And actor Siddharth like to act in movies like that, the reason why it was a mixed bag is because the trailer wasn't what the movie promised. So people were divided on liking it or not.

The director of jigarthanda just took the outline of dirty carnival.. Because there will be lots of different in both movie.. But some hatera still tell its a copy.. 🤦♂️ but ya the story is very interesting. In tamil the gangster character is not the protagonist but in telugu and hindu they make the gangster character as main hero.. Hope it will satisfy the audience..

I have watched a dirty carnival and it was a great movie it feels very realistic and each characters feels so real and change in each characters nature is so interesting I recommend people to watch it though it's a bit sad story

BP has definitely taken inputs from GG(ofcourse it's not a great film) because Jigarthanda looks very different and is more passionate, and both other films couldn't recreate it.

Jigarthanda is very unique looking and is passionate in terms of it's technicalities and filmmaking.

I think, Jaby and Achara should do more these kind of comparative studies of trailers. The Remake culture in Indian Cinema, bifurcated into 2 different paths. One is trying to hold the same old essence of the movie from the origin and another , where director trying for the different take on that same story line, which can be the evolutionary path .
People do say it's a copied movie but you have to understand that story is the same but the acting is authentic and sometimes original movie due to artist doesn't do well but then a remake makes you reconsider the movie and it's storyline pls appreciate the efforts 🙏

I loved the trailer of A Dirty Carnival and also liked the trailer of Jigarthanda; although I haven't watched it because I couldn't find it on any OTT platform. While Bachchan Pandey looks like some random masala Bollywood movie.

I think the only similarities between the Korean and Indian versions are that its based on a gangster, and a movie maker
For example a person who watched sholay in 70s would say sholay is original, but a person who watched sholay recently would say sholay was not unique, but in reality sholay is OG.
Sholay is great but it was inspired from a number of spaghetti westerns. People who watched spaghetti westerns back when Sholay came out knew it even back in the 70s. I don't understand why people in comments are fighting about inspiration/remake. If there was no inspiration/remake then a good chunk of people would never get to experience that story and find out about the original. I would have never known about the Korean movie but now I am intrigued. People hold onto movies from their region as if they have personally directed it and take offense. Hilarious!

certain low IQ bollywood fans wont agree because all they do is remake and if called out they get defensive thats why I stopped watching bollywo... remakewood and started watching the original ones. Jigarthanda did get some inspiration but not entirely just some bits and pieces like the romance and stuff that too very little. I have watched both and they are great movies with their respective story. Certain mentals will get defensive and call it a remake of dirty carnival without watching the film bcuz someone said so. I haven't watched any of the three movies, So when I watched the trailers I just found dirty carnival more interesting than the others IDK maybe because Jo In Sung or I like Korean movies more they're more realistic, intense and definitely leaves an impact on me!
