Carl Perkins. Roy Orbison, Johnny Cash and Jerry Lee Lewis singing together as a tribute to Elvis was mind blowing.

I saw an interview with Mick Jagger who said he had never seen anyone own a stage like EP - then, or since then. He said they - Rolling Stones - were in a studio when the news of his death broke. It was totally quiet for a while, and then Keith R started playing Can’t help falling in love on his guitar.
I was in Germany when I saw 10” big fat headlines. People were crying or stunned, quiet. August is touristy, but Munich was quiet. I bought a newspaper and tried to make sense of it all. It took me nearly the whole afternoon because my German was rudimentary. He was very popular there because of being in the service there. I think he was just a NICE person, over and above the talent, good looks, etc.

One thing that comes to mind watching your reactions is, Elvis was never given credit for being what, at the time, was likely the best producer ever. When you hear that big sound, that’s his alone. Vegas days are the best example. He had full control and nothing was altered, as it was for records. And Elvis was the only star who had the spending power to do so. He had the best and he paid them well. Had he lived I could see him producing others as well. He admits he was not a writer. He was a performer. And what an Amazing gift to the world!

I love Elvis he was a human being who cared and loved people and would give and give people forget he had needs just like we do. Imagine during Covid we were restricted going out etc but Elvis was restricted since a teenager couldn’t go out not even in the military didn’t eat out not at all just think how lonely he was God bless you all and in the Bible Eve was created for Adam because it’s not good for man to be alone facts

No one thought to turn on a tape recorder to preserve that memorable occasion. Reportedly, Elvis, making a movie in Los Angeles, said he was going to bed, which broke the ice and lightened the atmosphere considerably.

The last piano player who worked with Elvis, Glen D Hardin had been playing in the TCB bank and arranging for Elvis for only a month. After one of the shows his wife came in with his two children and waited to meet Elvis who was coming down the Elevator, When the door opened and Elvis was all dressed up Glen's wife and two kids almost fainted they were speechless and still tell people to this day how mesmerized they were.

Some people say Elvis stole black music, and that is so wrong. In fact if Elvis was a live today and heard that he would be heart broken. He helped so many black artist like James Brown said, James was the first one to arrive at Graceland when Elvis died. He was devastated and sat by Elvis casket for hours. Many don't know Elvis had a robe made for Ali, and visited Ali for two weeks at his training camp. Ali said "I don't worship no man but Elvis was the sweetest, kindest man I ever met.". Martain Sheen said "Elvis was the first real teenage idol for both boys and girls. General Colon Powell said he was a young Lieutenant. in the Army stationed in Germany in "59 and he was driving a jeep down a back road where they were doing army maneuvers and out of the woods all muddy and out of breath comes Elvis. So Powell hits the break and says "Elvis" and Elvis stops salutes and stands at attention. He said Elvis never broke protocol and stayed at attention to Powell said at ease. In his book he says of all the duties he had in the army and all the missions he had been on, everyone including his daughters ask about when he met Elvis on a dirt road in Germany. thanks you rock.

I think that's the thing about Elvis, if people know you have an Elvis story... they'll always want to hear it! Some friends of Steve Binder, the director of his '68 Comeback Special told him when he took the job, "It doesn't matter what else you do from here on out in your career, you'll be asked about this the time you worked with Elvis for the rest of your life."

Finishing the Bill Medley story, Elvis DID come back across the stage at his 2:00 show and did the same thing. Bill said: "I don't know who he is, but he's starting to piss me off!!!". LOL Elvis asked him later if he really offended him. Of course he said no, and his next show was at 10:00 the next night!

That's Dame Shirley Bassey the Welsh counterpart too Sir Tom Jones and has hardly changed, not sure where the video came from with the way they had spelt her name, she is now 87 and Sir Tom 84 in June and still working, you could watch both live in concert from the 1960's and right upto present day and you'll notice very little difference in their voices, no backing tracks etc

I was the opposite. I was a late comer to both having been born in 1963. I was aware of who both were but not into either til i turned about 13 then discovered the Beatles kind of by accident. I was hooked from day one and a life long fan of them from then on. Elvis took longer , but i fully realize now that he was one of the most important and influential figures in music, culture, everything. Elvis is the embodiment of cool and style and talent! I cant imagine music without the Beatles or Elvis.
