Can you please tell me how to get the blood from my cat weasel? He hates me touching his face or ears .. thats where i have been getting it but its SOOO Hard to get from the ear vein... I tried in the paw but i could not draw blood... the most recent Vet cut his nail to the vein and that was just hurtful to me to even watch.... How can I safely get blood from my cat, please? I hate this... My weasel is 20 years old now.... so he doesn't move to much and is blind now.. I'm trying my hardest to help and have been giving him his insulin .... but I feel like it's my fault... He is the most spoiled cat in the world/... and i just want to help him... Its SOO Hard to get blood to check him.. I bought the meter and strips etc to check the blood... but i have a very hard time getting the blood from him. Do you have any suggestions Dr. Niessen? thank you
Hi I hope all's well and I sympathise with you did you get a answer. It's so difficult to get blood even the vets can't get blood from my cat she ha vets in a couple of days for blood test . Bless them I hope your fur baby is ok x
I've had the same problem with my diabetic cat. We found out about the FreeStyle Libre CGM (continuous glucose monitor) which is used by a lot of other pet parents/owners. It's been very helpful because the pet wears a sensor which can be scanned whenever you want using most smart phones. The trick is getting the sensor to stay on for the full 14 days. We bought Skin Tac from Amazon, and it works great. Just follow the instructions.
I warm up my cats ear with a hot rag like they are being groomed by there mother, then poke the tip of the ear holding the rag on the other side. It gets easier 🙏
@@tinkerton7856 Hi! Yes, the sensor requires a Rx from the vet. Some vets carry them in their offices and can apply them to the cat. Most people pharmacies also have them in stock. I took my vet's Rx to Walgreens and bought two sensors for $60. I watched several UA-cam videos and learned how to apply the sensor myself. I found it helpful to have another person gently hold the cat so I could apply it. Good luck! I'm happy to answer any other questions you might have.😁👍😺
