      Luna and Cloak can DPS to an extent though. Luna freezes with a snowball and gets an easy kill and Ice Arts does decent damage as well. And Dagger is a healbot, but that's what Cloak is for. To add a little extra DPS

      And you’re in the right. Your cloak is throwing, because at the end of the day our main role is to support primarily. (80/20) heal first, everything else second.

      If that's the case, then your C&Ds just have a skill issue. You should be able to cycle your cooldowns between the two and balance damage with healing. Be aware of where your team is, throw a bubble at someone you think is gonna need it within the next 3 seconds, swap to Cloak, blind, kill, swap back, heal the people who need it. It's constantly juggling, but a good C&D should be getting a lot of kills AND heals. In a good match, I can get 30k+ heals and a similar amount of kills as the tanks and dps, plus a couple dozen assists.

      As a cloak and dagger main, I know that the reason they have high eliminations is because their attacks auto target, cloak’s M1 is a braindead Scarlet Witch M1, and eliminations count if you do any damage to someone dying. I get high kills and high heals often, but final hits don’t look nearly as big as eliminations for C&D but we get the blame for “focusing too much on DPS” when I’m doing chip damage by accident and using cloak when someone is almost dead, also C&D ult actually does damage

    GM rocket main here. I would advise against being too aggressive on him. While you shouldn’t be a pure healbot, rockets biggest asset is his ability to stay alive. Ive lost plenty of matches by getting too aggressive and wanting to do more damage. It’s usually better to stay back and use your gun when part of an overall team push or for self defense.
    If you don’t have the lowest amount of deaths on your team you are playing rocket wrong. Stay alive, stay back, and reposition when things get hairy and you’ll win more games than you lose.

      I'm only up to plat 1 but I've been doing the same and it's been working. I take the kills when they come to me, or unload a mag into a charging thor or venom to make him easier to finish off, or hell just to get him to fuck off. You have to be picky about when you get in trouble cause your mobility only goes to far and you are the juiciest target on the team. Also, never underestimate the power of wasting an enemies time.

    I feel what you are saying.
    In a perfect world, you'd be 100% correct. In reality, unless you REALLY want to leave it to (even more chance) in solo queue, support players in general (not just Rocket) don't have a (viable) option to NOT heal bot due to most teammates not being able to take care of themselves for more than 5 seconds at a time.

    • @minyanism
      @minyanism 5 днів тому +1

      I mean, not really. Luna Snow has piercing, so does Invisible Woman, Loki does splash damage for damage and healing. Healbotting is almost always the worst option because it forces your team to pick up the slack that you aren't taking advantage of, likely while the enemy Strategists are.
      Basically, if you're a no damage Rocket, your team is already at a 5v6 in DPS. If your other healer isn't outputting damage, chances are neither of you will be able to out-heal the burst damage that is coming in from the enemy.
      Every Strategist in this game is designed to focus on a mix of offense and defense, the aforementioned pierce attacks, or Jeff the Shark and Rocket ult. There are times where you need burst healing, but there's also times where you cannot out heal burst. The only way to counter that is to eliminate their sources of damage.
      A no damage Rocket will never accomplish that counterplay, while a Luna Snow only has to press Shift and then you can make a pick while still healing a teammate.
      A GOOD Rocket will do exactly what was described here in the video - send out a healing orb to 1 person, they are being healed, you are doing damage, the healing runs out and you repeat the process. Quicker time to kill, Rocket is supporting the team, and your teammate got the exact same amount of healing meaning you're back to healing more teammates sooner.

      @@minyanismyou type all these just to see your team gets melt in 2 seconds because you refuse to hold right click

    • @minyanism
      @minyanism 3 дні тому

      @ Rocket only puts out 70hp/s, less than every burst hero in the game, and 1 character can only be healed by 1 orb at a time. Your whole team died because you refused to fire your gun while your team was dying, thinking that 8 orbs actually do something instead of flying off into nowhere because the other 4 are already healing your teammates, giving you ~5 seconds of downtime TO SHOOT THE PEOPLE KILLING YOUR TEAM.
      Did you know that Rocket's orbs do not stack? If you did, what are you doing with that downtime? Because I can guarantee that if you are just waiting or pumping out more orbs, you aren't helping your team, you are putting them at a 5v6 in damage.
      From a distance (20m) Rocket's 40% falloff is STILL 77DPS -- that's 1.8 more than Cloak. Within 10m Rocket does 192DPS. This means that you CAN make picks. You CAN help your team without being a healbot who unbound their primary fire.
      If your team isn't composed around a 5v6, you're going to struggle. If you refuse to help your team in damage, you are going to struggle as a player.
      Rocket can 1v1 and win easily, but so many of you just run away and then act high and mighty when you're 0/0/12 with 35k healing and 0 to 648 damage after a loss.
      You have literal good players telling you how to succeed and then you come at me with this? Take a look at yourself in the mirror, I'm trying to help you.

    to people interested: only do this if your teammates aren't complete buffoons. If you're still in a rank where your teammates keep over extending a lot, focus on healing. But the moment you see that your teammates are stable with the moderate healing you're sending them then you start shooting.
    an easy vibe check: if at least 1 or 2 other teammates are comming correctly and your tank(s) are steadily taking space and your DPS aren't dropping like flies the moment you look away, you can shoot. (this start to happen around mid plat)

I mean I would shoot at them but to climb up and dash to them is a whole new thing I didn't know about. Really good video man. I believed in Rocket since the start and this help reassure my belief and elevate gameplay. Bout to make my ranked climb much easier as healer if I can't use duelist to help the team comp.

    Honestly goated opinion. So many grandmaster UA-camrs just write off Rocket as mid because of his ult and lack of healing. So many of them have internalized that Rocket is just a heal bot and you shouldn’t learn him because the meta is “shake booty for 12 seconds” and chain it 3 times. Ok do - ooosh. Yeah, rocket can beat many DPS if they can aim within 10mt. The problem arises when people complain about HEALING, their, arguably truthful, primary duty. If YOU cannot kill enemies with non-stop rocket heals, that's your problem. When a rocket stops healing for three seconds to unload a volley and reload, that's a team wipe with many of you losers. Stop complaining and actually hit your shots.

    For me, my teammates are just buns and they blame the lowest tier character on the team, me because I play Rocket. It’s stupid because one time I was 22-5-31 with over 55k healing. I almost had the most amount of kills, but I also was the second person with the most amount of healing and I had the most amount of assists. What does my team say about the work I put in? “I’m tired of one trick rockets selling my game” we had a Luna snow and Cloak and Dagger on the team and I did better than both of them combined. The most stupidest part is that we won and they still complained. It makes no sense to me why people flame on me even though I’m the one carrying when it comes to heals and assists. Once you hit GM, you’re going to be the one to blame if your team loses, only because your ultimate doesn’t make your team invincible for 7 seconds.

    Yeah, as someone who loves Rocket Raccoon, I make sure to not only heal my team, but to actually get kills by supporting my team in more aspects than on.
    I was talking to my homie about this the other day. Telling him I'm a very proactive Rocekt player. Im healing mlst of the time, obviously because that's my role. However, I'm also actively participating in gun fights and securing the win. I've beaten so many characters in 1 v 1's. If people can aim with Rocket Raccoon at close range, he can shred most characters, and with his ridiculous mobility, you essentially have a Spider-Man with a gun, lol.
    So yeah, I'm not a press heal all game, ever game and refuse to shoot, nope! I will engage in gun fights and always make sure to have a good amount of kills and some of the least deaths in lobbies, especially as a Support, because if I'm dead, I can't "Support" my team. Anyways, love the video!! 💯

    You really think Rocket has more mobility than Spider-man? No one can match him when it comes to travel speed. Rocket's boost and wallcrawl makes him very mobile but don't forget that Spider-man can wall run too. Granted Rocket is more hard to hit because of his size. If you're good at using his escape kits an Enemy will have a hard time killing him. I find myself using Rocket if I go healer but my lack of map awareness prevents me from using him at his full potential :(

    The reason people play rocket the way they do is because Rockets damage drop off is horrible. And you provide your team more value by not dying and keeping your BRB active.
    That's why I plan my aggression around BRB going into cool down. And focus on taking out deployables from safe angles when it's active. That way my team can focus on getting picks.

    With how slowly the bullets move and how most of his skills are meant for teamplay or escaping danger, most people probably instinctively try to play him as a full-on Strategist meant to be stick to cover and survive, it doesn't help that pretty much every other person in the Strategist category is more or less meant to be a healbot the team protects so the expectations are already set when one character is designed to play differently
    To sell the idea that he's more of an off-Strategist, someone you pick for the utility and damage potential than just the team medic, i wouldn't mind see him either get a bigger magazine size so he doesn't have to reload as much in a fight, or a bullet velocity increase that keeps the same intense damage fall-off to sell the idea to players that Rocket's a killer if you can sneak yourself in range for a pick against a small and nimble target instead of trying to poke Vanguards all day. Just one or the other, but not both, having both of those buffs at the same time sounds busted to me
    Personally I lean more towards the magazine size buff since increasing Rockets bullet velocity too far also happens to increase his accuracy and effective range since bullets will have a tighter spread because they're moving faster before spread takes hold, nudging him into Duelist territory, while giving him an extra 10 or 15 or so shots before reloading just makes going for a 1v1 more forgiving if the chance for a pick against a flanker shows up

    • @notlogan6482

I would dash into people's faces, and shred them, after throwing my pack down behind cover. When I learned about his heal, my play style barely changed. I just mash M2 when I'm not throwing lead down range, and dive with my dive tanks and assassin DPS. I just throw an orb out here or there while I help my allies burn them down. My friends still meme on me to this day for not knowing about his heal for the first 3 days I played, but they love having me play a dive rocket with them, now.

A skilled Rocket could shred slow or immobile targets like Hela’s or Punisher’s ult, forcing me to pressure or eliminate him before using mine. Now, as Hulk, my biggest threats are CC, Punisher with a shotgun, and Rocket-who's incredibly hard to take down and can melt Hulk almost as fast as Punisher's shotgun. Also while his E does give great utility passively I just found it has more use if it doesn't get shot down un 2 seconds so I hide it and ping it to make use of the revive
    #1 enemy to a rocket who can actually play the character is star lord due to his range and mobility, with #2 probably being a good spiderman due to the fact he can CC you in his combo if he manages to hit you... but even if you're stuck playing deathgarden against these 2 theres still plenty of counterplay to it

    What I hate the most is the amount of useless healing rocket can get. They do AOE slow over time healing which basically means you can’t save anyone from focus fire and burst damage. So when you get that much healing, the issue is you are stealing ult charges from your other healer who has defensive ults. In this game offensive ults are strong so you need defensive ults to counter, whcih is the biggest reason people hate rocket raccoon. In short, rocket raccon steals ult charge from other defensive ult supports by doing useless heals, and his ult does absolutely nothing.
    BUT, the only time where rocket is good is when there’s triple support, or good bucky and punisher. The team up literally equates to a tiny dps ult. And in tripple support rocket can focus on dps, heals and most importantly his ult is used as offensive utility, like damage boosting namor ult, punisher ult, or whatever damage ult that can out dps healing ults. But It requires communication. His revive can actually be really useful cuz in higher levels dpses don’t just go in and die, so reviving a tank at full hp is actually massive value. But rocket is just so situational and usually another support ult is just a safer bet. Just different play styles and rocket needs more communication. Can dependent on your team to do well.

    I think similar message also works for any of the Marvel Rivals characters. There is more to them than just being tanks, heals and dps. I don't even understand the point of the "meta characters" tier lists. Imho all of the heroes in the game are balanced really well. What actually depends on whoever wins or loses is ultimately your skill, teamwork with your allies and how the enemy team also show themselves. There is no "gigachad main character" who can win any game all by himself. There are many different strategies, and of course united work as a team.

  • @assamyte
    @assamyte 5 днів тому +1

    I agree on this. Most rocket only do 1 thing instead of 4 things. like just healing or just damage. As a strategist, you should be able to know when to heal, when to shoot, where to place your brb(where you can place it in a area that is safe and near most of the clashes happen) and finally, able to evade and go back to the area with more teammates so they can help out in destroying the harasser. There is a reason why this character has the highest win rate even in High Elo, most of the player don't know how to use it. Plus, for Punishers and Winter Soldier users, please if a good rocket has place a boost attack beacon for you, don't leave the area and maximize the FASTER FIRE RATE and Unlimited Ammo. For other players, if they have place the brb during domination starting area(Attack side), get health packs and jump boost. You may not know that it MAY give you the edge in the start of the game. So much of Rocket's problems come from his kit and the expectations the community has of strategists. Do you know *why* people play ground rocket? Because it's the only way to realistically heal more than one person at a time. Why do rocket players want so desperately to heal more than one teammate? Because rocket's healing throughput might be the worst of the strategists for single-target healing. It's this same low healing throughput that drives the majority of rocket players into permanently healbotting: If they stop healing their allies for even a moment, those allies will probably die and flame the rocket. It's why you really only start seeing rocket's potential come out in triple heal comps where he can afford to stop healing for long stretches of time and team up with divers or peel for the other strategists.
    You did land on essentially rocket's greatest strengths though: He is a master of being in the right place at the right time, and brings both damage and healing to the party depending on what the situation calls for, all while being mobile enough to essentially be unkillable.

    I believe it’s smarter to let my teammate die and focus on healing. He’ll come back seconds later due to Rockets revive machine. As a former rocket main, you can’t risk dying or you lose out on the revive which can completely turn the tables in a close game, especially if the teammate who recently died comes back with his ult. In the scenario where Thor was taking on strange/rocket; veteran players will focus on Rocket if he pushes up and then focus on the tank in most cases. This video is informative, but supports actively helping with kills rather than healing is completely situational. And sometimes even suicide.

      Same. I just got my aim better and started playing mantis and have been having way more success with her since she’s way more of an offensive support

    Brother you are a mid diamond peaker. There are people who hit gm or celestial with rocket doing 0 damage in the entirety of their account

      It’s a problem with this character but everything he’s saying can be applied to most if not all strategists

      So what? They're a drain on the team and got carried. If you play Rocket without doing damage, you either want Redditor karma or you're just not good enough at playing the character to its full potential. Reaching high ranks as a healer means nothing.

    I agree with you but I think the reason many don't is the flaming for sure not just for doing things they see as wrong but just picking him in the first place but I think part of it is his design because of the res beacon meeting him to be alive to work and not working on himself it makes you want to play more safe. But at the least if you are not going for picks cause I don't really either, at least not as deep as you do, at least shoot shields and keys he DESTROYS THEM the heal is overtime you can weave in shots and people didn't even do that. Don't get me started on the amount of people I see just throw the beacon anywhere to just be shot out.

      I think I forgot to mention it in the vid but I almost never get more aggressive until my beacon is used.

      @notlogan6482 oh I assumed I wasn't really saying you didn't
      Hell it's something I'm working on myself if it gets used there is no reason to sit back as much. But again I agree with what you are saying I just think there's a give and take here. It doesn't help that I feel his kit does make people play him bad from the res, to the low hp, to the dashes being so good at running away but then there the fall off damage, the low mag, the slow heals, the aggressive ult that makes him kind of polarizing. That's not even considering the whole "why risk it" I mean people are scared of pushing for similar reasons people would rather do the "wrong" thing that keeps the team happy then the "right" thing that makes them mad it's funny but the brain works

      @ Yea i made this video because a lot of people who play this character are afraid to step out of their comfort zone. You have to figure when the situation is fine to go and be aggro in, heck, there are games where I do just have to heal bot. But when opportunities arise, people need to know when to take them and not be afraid.

      @@notlogan6482 Fair and also props to you for being able to read anything I typed because reading it back HOLY
      It's a time thing I feel people will figure it out but again the stigma will always be there but I am hoping people at least do start playing him a bit better. Except No DMG Rocket I will protect him with my life even if he did 22 damage the other day

    Grand Master Main Lord Rocket here w double ur hours, only shoot flying enemies, tanks and enemies pushing you, hide your res beacon high on roofs if avaliable, when getting ult by storm, psylocke,jeff etc etc double dash high up or go to nearest wall and climb, always try to comunicate w punisher and winter soldier if they are in your team for the power up, if somebody dives u like spider man dash or run towards your team and he will go away in most cases

    The guy is Right. Rocket can easily do a whole lot more because I thought he was just a Support who gave out armor😂 I didn't read his ability so I didn't know the other button was his healing. I was going in and people genuinely don't know what to do against rocket because he is very small so he is hard to hit. Press of a button so that makes him all the more better for 1v1

    I like Rocket bc as an Overwatch player he reminds me of baptiste or illari. You try to weave in damage in between healing and also focus on map knowledge for brb placements. Im still trying to get better at weaving damage in while I heal, quickplay games I might get 1000 dmg on the high end atm 😅

      imo: final hits > total damage. Getting kills efficiently and as quickly as possible is more important than overall damage. Ex: I'll have games where I only did 2k damage, but get 5 final hits. I took Isolated fights with people I was confident I could win against, finished them up quickly, then went straight back to healing.
