1st of all you absolutely killed it as Seymour!!! and 2nd the commercial omg the commercial is absolutely FAB!!! NOW lets hope Santa does his magic... hahahahh
@@AtticRaidersRetroReviews yes great animation!!! And its almost as Levi does the voice which I doubt but still it's a very good impersonation of Levi!! Amazing! Now if only the bloody thing wasn't "it from the pit" level prices it would be great 😅😅

Loved this as a kid, especially as I loved Little Shop of Horrors, but there was no merchandise for the movie. But, I remember buying it on holiday from the Argos in Felixstowe.
Yeah, other than bubblegum cards and a pretty rare candy container, there really wasn't anything official for fans of the film at the time. It's only really even in the last few years that we've even got anything (Funko). I remember hoping for Audrey 2 to be released in the Movie Maniacs line years ago, and then SOTA Toys, but nadda...
@@AtticRaidersRetroReviews the '80s were weird for merch, they got so blindsighted by the huge popularity of Star Wars, they forgot about everything else. It took about 20 years to get any Ghostbusters figures based on the actual movie released. I'm still waiting for a Johnny 5 Short Circuit model, and the second movie is all about them making Johnny 5 toys!!!
I got lucky and found a copy of the game at a thrift store. It had all of it's marbles. But the rubber band was broke. But I am still happy to have it. Thanks for the review.
Wow, that's VERY lucky! I've never seen a single one in the wild or in anyone's carboot sale haul posts. As I've said, it IS possible to replace the rubber band with elastic thread, but it is a REAL pain to do, and I'm not sure I'd have been able to if my leaves weren't snapped off at the time, allowing greater access to the back.
Wow! Great game-but donʼt play it; display it! Thanks for the physics lesson at 7:39. Yep, sadly this is one that's more for the shelf than the games table. But I *am* very happy that I managed to bring it back to working condition. Love the lyrics, but I think I'll spare you all from my singing voice! lol
11:33 What's interesting about this is that on the USA version that we had released here, those big green leaves are made of a lighter green softer more pliable plastic. The tips can break as it's a nylon type plastic that was used alot in the 1980's when they wanted stiffness and flexibility. 11:48 I never knew it went into the lower jaw, I always thought it just used a rubber band to work. Milton Bradley really shot themselves in the foot by not designing the band to be easily replaced.
There's another possible connection to "Little Shop of Horrors" that I'm not sure you caught: I can't prove it, but I'm dead sure that the studio singer performing the jingle for "Feed Me" in the game commercial is an actor named Ron Taylor, who originated the role of Audrey II in the 1982 off Broadway production at the WPA theater. You can listen to his performance on the Original Cast Recording.
I found "The Hungry Little Plant Game" not a board game this one has the marbles in my attic. The box was falling apart but I'm pretty sure all the parts for the game are here. There is a number on the box 4731. No instructions which is why I am looking online hoping to find the instructions.
@@AtticRaidersRetroReviews no, but I'm happy just the same. Pulled up on UA-cam how to replace the elastic band myself! Will not be letting anyone play with it anyways...JUST A COLLECTABLE!

Great job in this video! I used to have this game. Parents gave it to Goodwill in the late 90's.
Thanks. :) Ah no.... Another for the classic "I used to have that cool toy/game but my parents got rid of it" file. :(
The animated plant in the commercial even resembles Junior from the spin off cartoon, Little Shop.
I remember seeing the Feed Me! game in shops. But, I never had it.
I'd have oved to have seen it in the shops, but have no memory of ever doing so (I would have onl been 4 at the time).

Yeah, the lack of "fixability" is a real problem. But then they probably didn't expect people to still be playing it over 30 years later.

Listening to the two side by side it's definitey very similar. Would love to be able to find something to prove the connection. 😄
The cosplay is amazing is just look like him in the movies this is the reasons ehy i love the 80's

Thanks - I did the best with what I could get my hands on in charity shops, but it's not up to Reel Icons film accurate standards. :)

How Milton Bradley was able to put this out without incurring the ire of the Little Shop of Horrors lawyers I'll never know. ;/
It is a bit of a mystery to be sure.
Got my fingers trapped in this game many times as a kid. 😂
I wondered if the game was based on Little Shop of Horrors
Just ordered this! Won't say how much I paid, but it's worth it!
Manage to get one with a working elastic band?!

How much did you pay? I want to sell one
Cool!
"Ba-doo"
This was actually my first toy return as a kid because I thought it was broken.
Is that because the mouth didn't close when you "placed" marbles in it?
@@AtticRaidersRetroReviews Most likely. I think I remember filling it up like you did and telling my mom it was busted.
It would sell pretty well as a rereleased official game imo
I agree. Be nice to see it boxed with some official artwork.
thee was actually a candy holder
That's true - would love to get one!
What happened to Audrey 1 ?🥺
Depends if you watch the movie or the play. 😉
🥰
That's why I don't have mine anymore is cause the rubber band broke.
Yeah, it's an absolute pain to fix.
I had two of these because the band broke on one
Yeah, sadly it appears VERY common.
How much is this game worth?
It can sell anywhere between £40 and £90 depending on the condition.
