    Thank you! This is so interesting. I can see how it could really be useful. I have so much to learn - and to think, after fifteen years, I thought I knew a lot about InDesign.

    Great Video Terry! Thank you! If you ever do another video on Nested Styles, would you be able to include dot leaders for use in Contents. My headers and sub topic have different text sizes. I would like the dot leaders to be the same size. I will experiment with what you've shown here today. I hope to figure it out.

    The Blue highlight is from the style override indicator is switched on in your paragraph styles panel. It’s not formatting!! You just need to switch the style override indicator off!!

      BTW, learned InDesign in a week (at least enough to make a folded-vertical spread calendar, which got professionally printed from PDF exported), albeit I have 30 yrs of computer graphics experience (2D/3D). Really helped to have your vids, plus others. Thx, mucho:)

    Hi Terry, I managed to get my dot leaders sorted out. I have another question for you. In my Contents pages, some headers are in capitals, some in sentence case and some in title case. Can I use Nested Styles to make every entry in my Contents to appear as Title case? Thanks, Jane

    Dear Terry. Do You have any trick for nested styling multiple paragraphs?

  • @marlonhector1561
    @marlonhector1561 2 роки тому

    Technically, for numbered lists, bulleted lists, you don't need nested styles. Because you can build that into the paragraph style. But yes, it still tags a character style.

  • @rudyderose4301

    I am having difficulties to make two paragraph tags starting on the same line. On a technical law document for example, we have articles numbers and the text of the actual article. I want Article 12 to be aligned with a tab on the right at 1.5" in bold and the text itself starting on the same line, left justified with the first line stating at 1.75" for example. I can not figure that out with Indesign. I used to do it easily with Ventura Publisher and Corel Ventura. I hope you can help with that. Otherwise, I have to keep it being on the same paragraph, manually making the word Article 12 in bold, add a tab to start the article at 1.75". It is a lot more time consuming that way.

    Hi Terry , what the difference between “ up to” and “ through to” ?

    • @TerryLeeWhite
      @TerryLeeWhite  8 місяців тому +1

      Up to the letter A stops the formatting before the A. Through to would actually include the A.

    I don't understand how the spacing and alignment worked on the Catalogue area. Was that inside a table?
