@@squirrelatwork That’s a cool idea! Why couldn’t they? Seems like it’d be mechanically possible without have an absurdly stiff pump action. The inherent inaccuracy of BB’s combined with a smooth bore takes away a lot of the fun due to misses.
Looks like a nice little rifle, good for plinking fun. That can challenge is why I left empty and did 25 feet for the 840. Although I think it can handle the 50 feet, and plan to revisit.
Hi. Nice video. I think I will get one. I love the BB guns. So much fun in the back yard. Just a little accuracy tip I will pass along. If your BBs are going in all directions clean the inside of the barrel. You will need a .17 Cal. Cleaning rod and very tiny patches. I use Acetone which evaporates very quickly. You will be amazed. With a Red Ryder I went from soccer ball sized groups to golf ball sized groups. Good luck. I hope this helps.
The only BB gun I’ve ever owned that actually liked a specific kind of BB is my Crosman PSM45. Otherwise I always used either Crosman or Daisy BB’s, whatever I had lying around or bought on sale. I never figured it made any difference.
@@franbrinda I normally just use the 6000 count Daisy BBs. I have also used Umerex BBs. I can’t tell much of a difference. Even the Copperheads seem to shoot ok.
@@nobodyshome758 I didn’t realize the other models didn’t come with wood. I’ve been looking for years for a pump action spring gun. I was pretty surprised when I ran across this model. Even better it was on sale off the Daisy website. 😀
@@yoitired It’s not difficult to cock, just kinda gritty, the Daisy lever guns have smoother actions. The pump action is pretty fun as you can stay on target while cycling the action.
@@airgunsofalaska That must be pretty sweet. I got a Daisy 35 recently, I was thinking since it's smoothbore maybe it's sized better for bbs. Doesn't seem any more accurate than an 880 lol but it's easier to carry around without the handle loop thing.
Cool I’ve been looking to get this gun. Unique that’s its pump action. I’m looking for anything not Daisy that will shoot 300+ fps spring bb. Like wood and steel, but hard to find. Good for indoors or close range plinking. Also looking at the Air Venturi’s Western Justice lever action John Wayne or Annie Oakley model.
This one was fun to shoot. I’ve not shot it since last spring but it did well at short range. It’s made by Daisy though, they just license the Winchester name. I don’t have any experience with the other models you mentioned.
@@francisbarnaby I’ve not watched that movie in a long time and didn’t remember he had a BB gun. I just did a search and he used a modified Red Ryder with a loose forearm and the lever was cut off. @@commonsurvivor yes, an older kid, probably 4th grade and up depending on how big/strong they are. Unlike the lever action Daisy’s they can’t flip the gun around in a different orientation for leverage to cock it. Something else I just thought about, it wouldn’t be my first choice from a durability aspect. I remember dropping my guns as a kid or falling down with them. I’d think one of the sheet metal Daisy lever actions like a Buck 105 or a Red Ryder would be more resistant to being banged around and dropped over the long run. I don’t remember ever breaking one of my 70’s/80’s Daisy lever actions until I submerged one in our little wading pool and shot water out of it. 🤣🤦♂️ From my experience with the lever guns, they work and shoot for a long long time. @@pinkman7546 Yes, kinda similar but superior in every way. I’ve also got a Marksman 1700 and its pump action isn’t as smooth as the Winchester. It’s also very cheaply build and very, very flexible.
@airgunsofalaska thanks for the information. I appreciate it, I bought my laserhawk as a joke but it's decent for what it costs. I love that Winchester used real wood in their model. I'll have to get my hands on one of these. (I collect)
@@pinkman7546 no problem! The Winchester is a much better performing gun than the Marksman models but I don’t know how long it’ll last? Hopefully it goes for a long time but I’m skeptical simply due to all its plastic construction.

I had the Daisy pump style in the late 70s. Even the carnival games had one they shot a cork out of.

Any tips on bbs. Not sure what’s good, copper there are steel, zinc coated, and the black. Not sure what’s best in these springers
