If you ever get down to NY take a ride out on Long Island, and make sure you visit: The Cradle of Aviation Museum in Garden City NY, the hangers are some of the original hangers of Mitchel Field The American Airpower Museum in East Farmingdale NY, the last remaining building of Republic Aviation, makers of the P-47 Thunderbolt, F-84 Thunderjet, F-105 Thunderchief and the A-10 Thunderbolt II (AKA the Warthog). They have a C-47 painted up in D-Day livery and it still flies missions, among other interesting planes.
To you, Stella, Stuka & Ronnie. Stay safe on your travels especially Ronnie on the road to Quebec, will keep monitoring for your updates. All the very best to you all!. Regards, Paul Rourke. B24 Restoration Australia.
Hey Mikey, No April Fool's joke: You are very lucky to have Stella and we're all lucky to have Plane Savers! Looking forward to seeing the transformation of DTD! Exciting!
You are correct. NZ is a VERY greaght spot for aviation. In February in Napier East coast ,we have somthing called...Art Deco. (Anything old that was built inbetween the 1900s and 1940s) mostly old planes.
Stella looks lovely and has brightened up our day,I am sure that Buffalo's organisational skills will make everything a great success in getting everyone in the right place and at the right time, the project is soon to gain momentum with the first hands on work done, its Oshkosh or bust now Mikey.
More Awesomeness. I am really looking forward to the start of the next phase of the resurection of the DC3. Knowing how much it takes to do this sort of job I know there's been tons of work behind the scenes. Well done to you and the whole of the Plane savers crew.
Fuel issues sad. I sold off my 70 Chevrolet Impala in 77 because 100 octane was no longer available. Nice car and engine. 300 HP 10+ :1 compression forged crank 4 bolt mains & ran like a cat with his tail on fire. And got 25 MPG at 65 MPH. And was big enough to have a party inside.
Mikey, one of your Electras is ex Air New Zealand. There is a campaign to bring a few of these birds home got g on here. When you are finished with that aircraft there is a fella here who wants to buy it back at end of life value.
Hi Mikey, too many April fools in there to mention them all. Maybe I should have told you about the GoPro today!!! It was akl good fun nevertheless. Good to see Ronny again, he sure is putting some miles on his truck, I hope he has a safe journey home, and an easy trouble free trip to Montreal. So looking forward to him getting to work there. Enjoyed the sight of a DC-4 in the background as you walked back into the hanger, it's a shame you no longer have any at work. Two nice segments on the P51 and DC-3 in Zew Nealand, somewhere else I'd love to visit one day. Also good to see the forward planning department in full swing, you are a lucky guy to have such a dedicated person on board with the project. Regards, David Jones, Coventry, UK.
Great episode. Thanks for all your hard work Stella. When the Big Event is over it will be a bittersweet moment not only for us your loyal fans but all you guys too. On the bright side Mikey maybe we can make some new things happen aey. 2 Thumbs Up!
How about tanker 22 you guys saved that one from the scrap yard. On a personal note...I used to work for Aero Union back in the day, I assembled and installed three tanks one on one of your L-188s, and the other two tanker 21 and 22.
Well, I have a question... If a restaurant buys a plane (whether to serve food in, or just to have as a static display), is it a requirement that the plane have a hamburger door ???
Only those that flew DC-3's knows what that means. Open that door while the #1 engine is running and you could become hamburger. I never had a reason to use it for anything.
@@CaliforniaFly I guess this was truly an airplane joke, because it seems to have gone right over your head. Thank you, but yes, I know what the "hamburger" door is for and what would happen if you opened it with the port engine running. The joke was a play on restaurants, hamburgers, and retired airplanes used as displays or seating areas.
Hey Milkey, I know how it feels trying to make a project come together. I was a fire department training officer for 17 years coordinating training of 30 people on 3 shifts. And guess where the P-51 Merlin engines were built... Packard Motor Car Company-right here in Detroit Michigan. Nice picture of Stella with the DC-3;-] Thanks for posting.
Things moving ahead nicely! C can on the way, Ronny on the way, you and Stella and Stuka on the way soon! Another great clip from Gabe! Nice to see a young guy really into planes and his clips are well done! Plus he is sharing history too! Want to see your dad's turbo DC-3 too soon lol
Great video again with Mickey.....I really enjoy his series. He makes Aviarion enjoyable and humane without todays mindset! I slammed the door on my aviation experiences doing something else...though finished a true personal 400 illustrated page book on my background in Industry....lot of DC -3 stories frolm Cuba to Indonesia. I enjoy dhaŕing stories with others.
That's one beautiful bird ya got there Mikey! She needs some good love and care but from the video she looks straight and clean, so glad you are able to save such a beautiful plane. Personally I feel all DC-3/C47-Dakota planes ought to be saved. I'm sure you know just how special they are when ya fire em up and they get warm and have that smooth idle sound, I've been blessed years back with being a former Kzoo-Air Zoo member that instantly fell in love with their C-47, always have and always will love the slow sluggish flying characteristics of these old McDonald Douglas aircraft. Really hopping you or Ronnie or your dad are able to find a Connie" eventually, their one of my top favorite aircraft out there.
Tell Ronnie to take autoroute 30 that bypasses the island of Montreal. There is a toll to take that stretch of road but it is worth it. Autoroute 30 intersects with route 116 close to the St. Hubert airport. If he tries to go across the island he will drive around in circles getting lost trying to find an open route. There are major construction projects going on and there are road closures on the weekends that cause all sorts of chaos. Getting stuck in that traffic with a fifth wheel trailer will be miserable.
Great progress Mikey, thanks for the extended Stella segment! love that. .. one more detail Mikey, Stella has no rings on her left hand? are you planning to do anything about that (it is April 1)? keep up the good work!
I’d rather take 4 times as long and fly WJ than go anywhere near crash Canada WJ takes amazing care of pets AC is brutal I witnessed working at YMM first hand. ALWAYS FLY WJ! Love the videos Mikey thank you for the uploads!

Mikey, I've not noticed this before, but as Stella was explaining the organizing she's doing for the Montreal Project, I noticed a slight accent. If you don't mind, could you identify it, please? This is an interest of mine, since my bride is a native Ukrainian speaker, although born and raised in Ontario. She was 27 when we met, and had lived in the states for about three years. Even so, I could detect a bit of Canadian in her speech, eh. Actually, not "eh", although several of her relatives use it a lot. I think it's strongest in the Niagara Peninsula. We attributed some of the lack of accent to the fact that we both grew up watching the same TV stations in BUF, although she got YZ and HAM stations, as well. Anyway, I could faintly hear the occasional "oot" and "hoose", but not much, and now, 48 years later, I can't hear it at all. She still spells things wrong, though (cheque, flavour, theatre, chesterfield...) but that's not about (aboot) accent. Hence, my interest in Stella's accent. Thanks.
I'd like to encourage videographers: PLEASE hold your phone horizontally before pressing "record." You'll end up with a nice, wide picture that looks like a movie, instead of a narrow doorway. My eyes thank you!
Ronnys excited ... and we are all excited. Another awesome episode. Thanks Mikey.
Ronny’s dogs are excited too! Mikey didn’t let the husky slobber all over him this time though.
How exciting this is getting!!! Cheers to Ronny for doing all that driving. Safe travels all!! 😍🛫🛫✌️

Gonna be in Montreal Sat night for Habs and Leafs, hope to see you at the game!

Just found your channel. Great to see you. You showed 2 of3 of my favorite aircrafts. The 3rd is the F-4. (Harrier's get an honorable mention).

It's too bad Ronnie won't have time to stop in at the Canadian Bushplane Museum on his way through Sault Ste. Marie in Ontario.
You guys should look into operating the
