Theres no such thing as "dame Judi" She is just an actor named Judi Dench. Please stop allowing your horrible Windsors to change someone's name . It is unhealthy and pathetic.
Sorry, I love Judi Dench, but after seeing her in the series “ as time goes by. “ this series just doesn’t seem romantic to me at all. It’s like they don’t even like each other, although I don’t think Laura would like anything about anybody. She just seems very brash & argumentative to me. Don’t see how those two could ever get along. 😒
Get involved in your own life. Dench is human like anyone; she's not a god. Just an actor and person, who puts on her socks just like you do. This labeling with titles that you do in the UK? Is ridiculous . This actor is Tom or Bill or Sue, but this actor is "Sir"?? Please. Value yourself. Get some reality.

Mike's overreacting about her furniture. Laura shouldn't have had to move out just because she kept her old apartment, she could have used it as an office for her translating projects.
This show was her best work by far, and Michael was her best acting partner. It is accessible to the average person. Relatable. I cannot stand Shakespeare ; she sometimes talks theater in an interview for hours, and its a bore .
Hmm I have watched this series only because I love Judi but i is depressing. Not because it's not some magical romance but they've basically settled for what is convenient and aren't even really into each other. Neither one of them is happy or content. ... :(
They are people who would never be happy or content no matter who they were with. It's their nature -- that's why they're perfect for each other. I think their real-life love shines through. They were married in real life until death parted them.
Ok so you have watched so much Hollywood bs you believe the rom com silliness you think is real. It is an old bromide rhat British romances were boring. Which is nonsense because there are generations of little British people. None the less the focus is on two middle aged people who are just set in their ways and are scared by love but do actually love each other. Both set in their ways both a bit peculiar Lust is easy, love is not and it gets harder with time and baggage. Irony .
You must be very young. Not all partnerships are rainbows and smiling all the time. Laura is melancholy, it's just her. It will not change. Remember, She was offered a millionaire in Belgium in season 4; ; but she was not interested. Mike is more easygoing, but also melancholy, and has terrible anxiety. . Neither of them is the sunshine type. This is why they are comfortable with each other.
Fetal alcohol syndrome wasn’t studied that much until the late 70’s even though there were some observations before that. This series was produced before it became well-known as a symptom of alcohol abuse by pregnant women.
I can see JD having matured in her acting by the time of Jean. She is similar but more of a whole character. I think it was also the 80s thing about women being strong.
There's a warehouse full of the same sofa two hours away. Bless her heart. Six to eight weeks indeed.
Laura to Mike (at the end): I never COULD resist a smooth talker! LOL
And married in real life, perfect pair. Love Dame Judi. Thanks for the upload

Mike is in love w Laura, he is just as scared as she is
I 💘this show
Actually, he loves her sister Helen. Watch the way he looks at her.
Staying with Laura, he gets to see Helen sometimes.
anyone else notice that Mike up and leaves with one of their mugs? XD
He's always wearing the sweater that she gave him...
Well.. he always seems to be in dire straits.
....but this is not the first sweater she gave him. The first one was sky blue.
Fab!!!

But they're best friends. They realize they're one another's favorite person.

Did that pregnant woman just drink!! Gast!! Never would that be shown on TV nowadays!

Home Pride? Dont they make cooking sauces?
A little later, the couch disappears from the program.
I don't like this Laura person Jean is much sweeter and kinder she doesn't "fly off the handle" as much as Laura she may sulk as much though
I don't know. I was thinking of how many ways Laura and Jean are the same.
I can see JD having matured in her acting by the time of Jean. She is similar but more of a whole character. I think it was also the 80s thing about women being strong.
Really? Two middle-aged people who don’t know how buying from a furniture store works?
s.
Po-tah-to
No wonder Laura is past her prime and single.
She is quite horrid.
