As An Old Bloke, I plod along Through Life...Once a week over a few Beers We head for a mate's house and have a Jam session. He has a Gibson Firebird 63 Vintage. . .Which is a Work of Art and worth a Small Fortune, and I have a new Epiphone Firebird Which cost just over £540...After a few More beers You cannot tell The Difference. The listener may not be able to hear the difference...but I'll bet the player still could! I mean, c'mon! A '63 Firebird must resonate like a tuning fork, and play like the finger of God! But I get your point. I am considering an Epi out of these 3 oddball shaped classics, even though I'm the fortunate owner of two Gibsons. A Gibson may be awesome...but that doesn't mean that an Epi cannot still be good. And good is a lot better than nothing!
I've been very impressed with Epiphone so far, I have a Thunderbird that is probably my most expensive instrument and I don't think I'd trade it for a Gibson
I bought a Gibson Firebird III when they first came out. My first electric. I think I paid about $280 which in today's dollars would be about $2,400 (though it didn't seem that pricey to me at the time) I really enjoyed it especially the neck and combined tones clean. It eventually ended up with a friend who still has it. I'd offer to buy it but I can't afford it now.
In every new Epiphone clip they mentioned things that doesn't make a guitar better. New headstock, which is mostly mentioned, or the Probucker pickups, or new colours, or Grover tuners(which a low cost tuners sell under Grover brand). It's all marketing...
This is the first epi firebird with the thru-neck construction like a firebird should be. Also don't underestimate how good rolled fingerboard edges feel as that seems to be a first for epiphone to my knowledge as well.
The first neck thru Epi was done in the eighties ,with the Epiphone Firebird 500,and 300 models. The 500 model had two humbuckers, and a Kahler whammy. The 300 model had a single coil pickup in the neck position, and a humbuckers in the bridge position, also with a Kahler whammy. The down fall of these guitars is the whammy unit,if I get one I will have it replaced with a Floyd Rose,or something better. They also had a polymer fingerboard, which I would have replaced with rosewood,or ebony if available. These guitars are rare ,but have great potential as a rebuild .
Well i gotta be honest, regardless how good Epi is, there is always something off from it, i dunno if you can feel it or not but something doesn't feel right like i don't get that "solid-built" feeling that mmphh...
Im 100% positive they should have made the v natural with gold hardware. The actual 58 spec . but then it would look like amos . prob piss off the people that bought an amos. Then they wouldnt be selling them for an unrealistic amount on reverb anymore.
You got a lot closer to Blues Rock ala Johnny Winter on the Firebird, than some of the other guitar distributers. They appeared to think the Firebird was made for "Wimp Rock",they should have taken a cue from Shakira, and not made any noise at all. Then put on a Johnny Winter C.D.,and reveled in thier "glorious inadequacy" ,comparitvely speaking. You get" it" but you can get it more if you want.Been playing Blues, and Blues -Rock for a while now( 52years) worked shows with all the top guys, you might want to keep at it in a serious way.Check out my Channel, Blues Rock Guitarist Mike Sallows.Peace
Guys I normally love your videos bot have to say this was a bit disappointing .. these are all vintage styled guitars , they are all blues rock guitars really .The Flying V and explorer always get the metal label. Would have been nice to hear blues / rock tones from all of them .. but yes Jack can really play.
Hey Alex, thanks for your comment - I appreciate your point there, but I really wanted to show just how versatile Epiphone’s instruments can be across a wealth of different styles. Thanks for watching! - Jack
@@andrewsmith9923 mate the only bellend here is you. You can Easily do it. Also just getting a blank and water stickering and then clear coating in matte can be done. Take you negitive pants off and burn them.
Shout out for playing “Victim of Changes” on the Flying V !!

Indeed sir, indeed.

Luey Sixty-six gibson’s are so so pricey, the kind i want are, like a simple alpine white les paul with gold hardware

Best way to demo these guitars = tallica riffs -oh yaaa!
Dude besides Fluff this is one of the few reviews where someone just riffs hard on a guitar instead of playing blues! Thank you!
When he started playing the four horsemen, I was like yup that's the first riff I'm going to play when it arrives :D
I couldn’t find a vid showing the epi V thanks for posting this.
Well that takes me back . Watching you crank out the metallica riffs on the black exploror and V . Sounds like how I used to do it
Firebird......sold!
Been waiting hella long for Epiphone to put out that Firebird 😍😍😍😍

Damn know that feeling 🥺🥹
wanted an explorer for sooo long, but i always wanted a firebird deep down, after watching this video i will be ordering that firebird tomorrow!!!!!
You know what to do, Brandon! Available here: t.ly/xqRV9
love the victim of changes riff in the flying v!
Epiphone is vastly underrated
I want all 3 but I think I’m sold on the firebird
Fantastic playing, I had to watch it twice!! 🤘😎🎸
Finally, a great and not tricky review of the Epiphone Firebird 2020. Thank you so much!
Which ones are better these ones or the 2021 models ?
@@benallmark9671 I guess 2020 models and 2021 models are the same guitar. This models are from 2020. Are there a 2021 models?
@@JaimeCerrada I just ordered one and assumed it was 2021 but who knows
The firebird sounds really good.
I bought one of these 2020 V’s and i love it..
Flying V:
Looks (10/10)
Sound (7/10)
Comfort (4/10)
Explorer:
Looks (8/10)
Sound (8/10)
Comfort (8/10)
Firebird:
Looks (9/10)
Sound (10/10)
Comfort (8/10)
I'd say comfort on explorer is 11. Its really comfortable playing while seated imo
Jack: When you play Metallica riffs, you better play it with the right guitars and the right Dunlop green Tortex pick!
Awesome video!
Metallica should play it like Peach!
Victim of changes is one of my favorite songs
That Firebird looks amazing
That explorer handled the high gain really well
I just got one last week, and it is a monster, LOVE it
Just curious how the Firebird would have performed using the high gain settings?? Bummed this wasn't covered! :|
I'll have my explorer delivered next Monday!
man I bought mine last month it's a beautiful guitar
Good choice of songs for v and explorer 😎😎😎
Love the Firebird, but the reverse headstock kills it for me. Firebird with an Explorer headstock. Boom!!
These guitars are so good you don’t need to spend a lot of money to get a very professional guitar good enough to get to Rockschool grade 8
They are okay for the price. But not better
Musikus 70 Nah. They are better.
Hello,
I have a question about the Flying V Ebony shown in this video. Does she have neck dive while playing standing?
I follow you since the biginning great vid as always!
Which mediator are you using Jack ? I try to see every time but it's impossible to see!!
what are you running these into? i see that the orange is miked up
Can you do a video on the acoustics when they come out. The frontier looks great.
I was waiting for Bruce Dickinson to break in over the galloping. Sounded fantastic!
All those riffs on the Firebird were badass!
Thanks Andrew, it's a badass guitar! We love it!
The playing and the tone on the Firebird was bossy !!
This lad can play!
At 4:25 the €xplorer takes off!
I "subscribed" just because you weren't afraid to play some Metallica riffs on that killer Epi Explorer! Right on!
Hey man, can you go over the Epiphone Uptown Kat series? They seem to have come out of nowhere and look beautiful!

Except the CTS pots and the Probuckers compared to the Alnico Classic's plus the Graphtec nut which they have but dont mention....

Firebird demo was very short
Firebird 👍🏻👍🏻
Playing victim of Changes!!!! Awesooooome!!!
Now a part 3 of Epiphone Dot :)

That firebird make you looks so handsome 🥰
Are you guys in Australia or the UK?
He is speaking PROPER English! They are in Colchester which is in England.
nice guitars but i have never seen lefthanded models
That's why I forced myself to learn guitar right handed as well as my niece. You are limited as a left handed guitar player.
your playing can sure sell a guitar!

Explorer
Explorer! For the win! Still waiting on mine...backordered😿
@@AngelHernandez-sj4nk i've bought it. It came last month...It's an awesome guitar🤘🏻
the V....
I like these 3 Epi's because the Headstocks are the same as Gibsons. But dislike the LP's and SG's because of their Headstocks...
Made in?

Peach Guitars Cheers Jack I see what you mean ....great playing as always mate .
I fucking hate that metallic V in the bridge of the flying.
Harvester of Sorroooow......
Fuck me Spider-Man can shred!
You know what I love about the firebird... U can swap the truss rod cover out for a Gibson one. And who would know.
Good luck getting the 2 hole Gibson bell to go over the 3 hole flat bottom “bellish” Epiphone truss rod cover
