I remember seeing him at Gratz and loving that tenacity and toughness he played with (which is DEFINITELY a Philly thing)...I also remember the Stanford/St. Joe's game like it was yesterday...Luckily, we got it in Alabama, which made me happy as I'm a big big 5 fan. And I also remember what Casey Jacobsen said before the game, and seeing Marv just go off like that was unreal. I think he went 10-10 from inside the Arc, and was just purely unguardable that day. As someone pointed out, had he left St. Joe's after this season, he certainly would've been drafted - unfortunately, the Hawks struggled the next year and missed the tourney, which hurt his draft stock. Even with all that, he's done a lot in his community, so even though he didn't have a huge basketball life, he's definitely done so much other good, which is awesome.
Best years of college basketball marvin Crenshaw jameer Nelson i watched everygame when this happened even when my favorite Rashid bey was there Lynn Greer at temple and nova and then that run with jameer and delonte that's when the big 5 was on ⚡⚡⚡
Marvin I'm so proud of the man you became. You are a great example for children who came up as we did. Not the basketball yes that's a big deal however after the game. Your identity was basketball you found your way and became the man your father raised you to be. You didn't do what most do get money and forget about the place that made them. You opened stores in the hood where you don't see people who look like us. You employed your friends who after paying their debts to society wouldn't have been employed in that society they speak of. Your cheese steak plàce is more proof to children like us they can do anything.. Coaching and being a father the latter being your biggest accomplishment is just a few more things that sets you apart from any basketball player. We are all proud of you S.P is proud of you..
Philly stand up..... Marv was tough b4 St Joes...... he was a team player, role player, then a monster at Gratz for 4yrs!!!! We been knew about him....!!!!!!!!!!!
@@lookitzkay2463 That’s a blessing. He and I use to play basketball, football, baseball, and do boxing. He was a great athlete. You are fortunate to learn from Marv.
He did so much more than that. He built stores in his hood with food that's not outdated overpriced or simply not available. He is a true hero and someone these kids should learn of. He is a winner in life. Most lose their way after a disappointing end to their career. Not Marv he excelled.
Amazing! Marvin is such an underrated and forgotten player... thanks for uploading this!
My favorite player ever!! I lOVED watching him play!!
My favorite player at St Joe's, even over Jameer Nelson. This dude was straight buckets!
I’ll never forget that Stanford game. A true Hawk Legend. The Hawk Will Never Die!
Greatest Scoring performance I’ve ever seen
He really helped put St. Joes on the map. He definitely should have gotten a spot in the league

He should have left after junior season. His play in the ncaa tourney would have gotten him drafted 1st round at least

I'm a St. Joe/Big Five fan. I taped the Stanford game, and every time I watch it I think St. Joe is going to win.

Bro was better than jameer and delontae to me. Wish he made it to the league
I’ve never seen anything like that 18 points against the sale that was truly godlike
He a great college basketball run, but a short NBA career. He got undrafted 2002. He played one season overseas teams.
