- Now small scale makers can finally get the high end reinforcements and interlinings by the yard. Luigi Carnevale is an Italian manufacturer that specializes in a wide range of products for bag and shoemakers. Rocky Mountain Leather Supply is now carrying a select group of these items in their online shop. Luigi Carnevale and RMLS supplied these materials to me so that I could test them and share them with you.

Thank you for this video. Maybe the 'base' and microfibra can also be reviewed in the future!
Thank you Ellen for the information.
You are welcome. I"m glad you could get some helpful information!
Amazing video!! I have your book and love it!!
Thanks so much! I appreciate you!
Is it possibly for someone (like me) to order the interfacings catalog?
Thank you for this video.
I will be stitching a bellowed pocket onto 1mm goatskin or pigskin lining and want to provide pocket stitching support to the back of the lining.
What are three recommended materials to use for reinforcement material? Here are the ideas I currently have.
1. 0.1mm non-woven adhesive-backed nylon/polypropylene. (I don't think this is a good choice. I think I should use a material that needs to be glued down.)
2. Tecno Gi Talyn (I have 0.35/0.4 mm on hand).
3. An additional layer of lining material in the stitch areas.
So let's say I am making a briefcase. I have the outer layer at 2mm thickness, then inside is has some re-enforcement to make sure the briefcase is not soft. Do I put this between leather and support? How does that react to temperature changes?
Yes or it could be the reinforcement altogether. I use 1mm think salpa for my leather bags to improve body, this lets me use thinner leathers or exotics. Then i also use .4mm or .6mm for my leather belts, it helps prevent the strenching that happens overtime with belts. As far as ur briefcase goes you may just want to use a thicker leather, say 8oz or 9oz plus a thin inner liner about 1oz or 2oz. That should leave you with a good rigid briefcase without the need of Salpa bonded leathers.
Every informative ! Is Salpa different from Saba, or did you mean Salpa and it is pronounced Saba?
It is Salpa! It is an Italian word for Bonded Leather. Somepeople also call it Salamander after a leading manufacturer's brand name.
