I have done this in two 20 ltr buckets. But I have added dry leaves layer by layer gathered during the winter.. Separated by red soil having natural earth worms. And every 3 days once I pour a mug of water kept in darkness. Now after 50 days the worms have become thick as birthday candles. At the bottom have drilled holes using nails. Jet black fluid comes out which I let flow to butter fruit veg plants
So, it's a worm farm? I was looking into that when I came across this video. Though I think I could stand worms more easily than maggots, this system seems easier since I don't have to worry about the green/nitrogen to brown/carbon ratio. Also, won't you have to remove the layer of worm castings at the bottom of your top bucket at some point?
