I've finally mastered that! The throat tickles and makes you cough at first then you get used to it- but very hard to sustain it without coughing.

I'm so glad you commented this, I tried learning throat bass and I was kinda worried I might be doing it wrong because no one was talking about the itching and coughing in the beginning! I also started wondering if maybe women's throats were maybe not quite designed to do throat bass

@@eeevie_not at all, females just usually have higher voices so it might be harder for them to achieve lower pitches, but other than that their anatomy is the exact same

I am not a dude, but I can hum around A1 / G1 in chest voice on a good day and B1 on most days, and I can reach A0 in chest voice with subharmonic technique, and, in my last vocalisations I’ve gone lower than A0 tho I cannot sustain them for more than a second yet, but am practicing it more now, and also practicing longer notes as well as holding my breath for more than one minute and thirty seconds because lower notes require a lot of air to sustain, though I can sustain certain notes for thirty-five seconds or more when doing throat singing with overtones - I actually have the highest voice ever with the whitest / lightest / brightest tone, being the only sopranino with 100% coloratura subtype, so my voice is naturally extremely agile and flexible and can be stretched to extremes, so I can easily belt A5 in chest without sounding strained and sing most of the lowest notes in chest, and in head voice I can go from C6 to C8 using coloratura technique, and my mixed voice can be stretched up to an A6 on most days with a belting technique whilst imitating a guitar sound and up to a C7 on a good day, while my whistle register goes from around the fourth octave or a bit lower to the tenth or eleventh octave on a good day, that is, it goes into the inaudible, but I cannot access my whistle register on most days tho, as it’s affected by most foods and drinks, so I must only drink water and not eat anything for two days to be able to get my whistle register to work properly!

By the way, using the subharmonic technique normally doesn’t make me cough, but trying to do it on inhales makes me cough - I am trying to learn how to do the real inward bass sound, but I cannot even tell if it’s done with a well-controlled inward subharmonic technique or some type of snorting technique or something else, and when I try it, I always end up doing growl-like inward bass using the false vocal cords, but I think I reached the inward subharmonic pitch once, though I cannot get to it anymore, and, by the way, all types of inhales make me cough a lot, at least most of the times, but it’s getting better, so it’s probably all about practicing and finding the right placements that don’t cause coughing!

Subharmonics are a vocal technique that pushes the chest voice to its absolute lowest, by creating those drill-like patterns that can also sound very robotic, so it’s technically the opposite of the belting technique!

By the way, regular throat bass and vibration bass are both done using the subharmonic technique, but with different placements and different intensities and different pitches etc - I can do both, but I cannot do inward bass properly, as it just goes into a growl-like inward bass, and I cannot figure out if the correct inward bass sound is done using inward subharmonic technique or some type of snorting technique or something else, which are not easy to access…

technically the first subharmonic is your voice, the second would be throat bass and the third vibration bass. weird, but thats how the terminology is defined

Subharmonics are a vocal technique that pushes the chest voice to its absolute lowest, by creating those drill-like patterns that can also sound very robotic, so it’s technically the opposite of the belting technique, and, the softest variation of subharmonics is referred to as the first subharmonic, which has a placement that’s more in the back of the throat, and it’s a bit similar in tone to the tone of chest voice when used with normal humming technique, so chest voice can also be used with other vocal techniques that aren’t subharmonic - subharmonics can have many different levels of softness and drilliness, based on placement and intensity and pitch etc…

I have to clear things up. First things first, the guy in the clip at the beginning is doing a low b flat in chest voice. And no, subharmonics and throat bass aren't completly different, because thraot bass is a subharmonic. We have the chest voice and the growl sound acting as a undertone, or subharmonic, and this is why we make a distinction. The one you are talking about is called True folds Subharmonics, which only involve the vocal cords to imitate a specific intervalic relationship to boost and undertone. Throat bass still is a subharmonic bc of its nature, its just not a true fold subharmonic
