@@krzysztofniedzwiedzki8061 I partially rebuilt a Theta II GDI engine with a spun / worn out connecting rod bearing for the # 4 cylinder. The crankshaft connecting rod journal was also damaged / marred with metal from the worn bearing. Also found the oil pump was no turning easily by hand. The oil pan had a layer of metallic sludge both silver and copper colored. Its my belief that the insufficient oil pressure from a failing oil pump was the cause of the problem. So I got a used crankshaft and oil pump from a donor engine that had a blow head gasket. We installed new crank and rod bearings for the crankshaft and hope to have the engine running tomorrow.

@@krzysztofniedzwiedzki8061 Follow up result: Installed the engine with the donor crankshaft and oil pump with new crankshaft engine and connecting rod bearings. Took a few attempts before the engine fired up (believe the GDI injector pump had to build up sufficient pressure). A lot of black soot spit out of the exhaust pipe before things began clearing up. What I did before installing the engine was to clean up all the carbon residue accumulated on the the intake valves use both a thin tip screw driver and pic tool. Using both a vacuum cleaner and compressed air, a lot of carbon was removed. I then coated / soaked the intake ports and valves with CRC GDI intake valve cleaner. I read that the PEA chemical in the solvent soaks into carbon residue that flakes off during engine operation. That, I believe, is what cause all the black soot to blow out during initial engine start up. To date, the engine has been running great! No ticking or knocking sound, the idle is very smooth and the engine is peppy. By the way, you used a oil pump from another Hyundai that doesn't use a balance shaft? To make it work, you also had to use the chain and sprocket to make it work?

I am in Louisiana and I have a blown engine like this; I have all of the OEM parts for the rebuild and my mechanic took half of the money up front and didn’t even start the job. Still have all brand new parts in box. Need help please, can anyone send me in right direction?

¡Me lo imaginé! Obtuvo eso de un motor Kia Forte 10-11 o Hyundai Tucson 2.0 11-13. También necesita obtener la cadena de distribución, el engranaje y las guías. El tensor es el mismo que el 2.4. Los motores de 2.0L o menos no tienen ejes de equilibrio.
I figured it out! He got that off of a 10-11 Kia Forte or 11-13 Hyundai Tucson 2.0 engine. You also need to get the timing chain, gear and guides. The tensioner is the same as the 2.4. Engines of 2.0L or less don't have balance shafts.
