    I use Linux on many machines. I‘m far from being a „techi“ - but installing Linux is easy nowadays. Most people wouldn‘t even notice they use a different system for their daily stuff.

    Have used 'Wine' in the past for running Microsoft products on Linux. For example, some of the older issues of Microsoft Office products will happily run. As mentioned, Libre Office is a good alternative Office product.

      Wine works with some older versions like you said. But installing anything with Wine is too complicated for most people.

    Thanks for the video. Instead of hunting for a Linux computer, why not just put a Linux distro (ISO file) on a bootable USB drive, using Rufus?

      That's far beyond the average Joe's capabilities. Most people want to buy a computer and have it work. Myself included, even though I have built hundreds of systems. While you can use the computer from a USB stick, it is slow and not fully functional. You could also install it to the computer but that's even WAY beyond the average user's comfort levels.

      @@privacyproshop thank you. I didn't realize that it was slower when ran from a USB drive. Although you can get high-speed USB drives for $30 or so

    Had an interesting chat with HP while watching this video.
    After being asked many worthless questions, I clicked on your link and noticed "Customizable".
    I found many Linux computers in the time for the chat woman to tell me that they did not have any Linux computers.

    I've been using Linux based OS's since 1995 and enjoy it very much. My recent laptop is a HP15 from Walmart that I got on black Friday 2021 for $400 and it came with win11. I had to delete the drive and I installed Linux Mint, which in my opinion is easiest Linux out there. New users will find that mint is very familiar and easy to learn. I do not use Windows on any computer nor have I missed it! Good Distro Hopping!

      Linux Mint is very good. Too bad you can't find computers factory installed with Linux Mint very easily as the average Joe will be afraid to install an OS.

    Very helpful presentation,thank you. What about a linux Ubuntu mini computer from Amazon? I've seen them for around $200,
    Are these likely to be no good?

    Are there any laptop options for CBs like me? So expensive😬 What about running Linux on a Chromebook. That was a thing at one point in time right?🤔

      You can probably run Linux on a Chromebook, but it takes some experience to get Linux loaded in it.

      Linux can run on most Chromebooks, search UA-cam for a video on how to do it.

    Ubuntu is not a privacy distro. Lol

    • @privacyproshop
      @privacyproshop  11 місяців тому

      It's all a balancing act - if you want the average person to stop using Microsoft and Apple, you have to give them something that functions well. Ubuntu works well and is extremely privacy oriented compared to Windows or Mac.

      @@privacyproshop they work together ms and Linux foundation and apple and BSD. Linus T. is part of the world economic forum. Use Debian without SystemD. One distro exists.

      I don't disagree with you, I'm just saying that to get the the average non-Techie off Windows and Mac we need computers pre-installed with Linux and the necessary apps/codecs/etc. Debian just isn't going to cut it for most folks, the learning curve is too steep.

      I agree, but Dell, HP or Lenovo sell Ubuntu only, System76 sells POP. You might find some small shops building computers with regular Mint, but I probably not the Debian edition.

    Hello a pleasure I recently started watching your videos and it seems to me that you already know the subject and I just started and I wanted to read your opinion to a problem I have and I want a private email and what I need it was between Proton and tutanota, but I threw a bucket of cold water when he said they were not safe and I did not know what to do and also is that I use an important page for me and that only accepts emails that are Gmail, Outlook or yahoo, which of those mentioned is the most private and should I choose to use? And which email apart from the problem I have you recommend me to use that is private, secure, anonymous and encrypted? I would be very glad if you could help me, thank you for taking the time to read it.

    • @privacyproshop

      Gmail, Outlook and Yahoo don't respect your privacy. Which one violates you the least? I don't know.
      The most anonymous email that I know of is Nemomail.me - but it requires you to use Lokinet which only works well with Linux at this time. Protonmail and Tutanota are very secure, and also quite private, especially Tutanota, but they are not anonymous and when you use them you are automatically labeled as a weirdo who uses all the privacy stuff.

      @@privacyproshop In that we agree none of the three is secure, I will continue in my search for which one is more secure. One more question, the email you use here on UA-cam, is it a separate account to the private one you have or do you connect the private one with the option Google has? And how do you stay safe while using it in such a non-private place which is Google?

    • @privacyproshop
      @privacyproshop  11 місяців тому +1

      @@iMatty All of the three - Gmail, Yahoo and Outlook are secure, but they are not privacy friendly. I run my own mail server. I'm not concerned about handing out my business email to the public - that's what it is for - for folks to be able to reach me and my business.

    • @iMatty
      @iMatty 11 місяців тому

      @@privacyproshop Sure, but my question is, is it safe to connect my private email to another email like Gmail or Outlook as a forwarding method without Google or another company being able to check where I forward them to and see emails that I have in my private email?
