ZMF was always made in USA. A guy called Zach Mehrbach started the company with modding Fostex t50s. Since then he evolved quite a bit, designing his own headphones/drivers and sourcing all the material.
@@theheadphoneexperience-wil2250 That would explain the weight. With the magnesium gimbals and silkwood it should only have about 430g. My purple heart verite is heavier too for example.
@@theheadphoneexperience-wil2250 ZMF makes limited versions of their headphones. Silkwood is the standard wood, and Desert Ironwood is the current limited wood. The one you have with you is the gorgeous Camphor Burl (with, I believe, rose gold grilles and rods).
Man they are some ugly headphones but id rock ugly ones if they sounded next level. I personally think the next step in audiophile world is to ditch drivers all together! Bypass your eardrums and send the frequencies directly into your brain...
These are some of the most beautiful and well made headphones there are - you need to see them in other reviews or in person, they are offered in many types of exotic woods and every one is unique. People don't wait for no reason for at least 3-4 weeks for these! :D
@@theheadphoneexperience-wil2250 augh , id have to see them in person then , maybe its the lighting idk. Who cares anyways , they'd probably be attached to the desk all the time , right ? lol

He used to build guitars too - thats where his woodworking/tuning skills come from.
@@mariodrv Indeed.
Number one comment her dude and enjoy the no bs reviews from your channel as well, good luck always stay safe too!
This review, especially because of the comparisons, is very helpful. Merci.
Thanks Matthew for letting William check this out!
I enjoy William’s reviews. I don’t mind at all as long as I have a couple other pairs at home to listen to.
Thank you for the review.
Nice first impressions. Are you sure these are silkwood?
I only saw two options. Silk wood, and Iron wood. They look more like silk wood to me, but maybe I missed something?

@@mariodrv I think my verite closed with the desert ironwood is almost 700 grams. But I love it so.

@@ruusta8042 Thank you for that information.
Which one do you prefer - Verite or Empyrean?
I don't have a lot of time in on the Verite yet, but right now I would say Verite.

Sorry, but I have to disagree. These are beautiful headphones in my opinion.
These headphones are gorgeous! 🤤
