Great review, Bill.
With the grill mod the stage almost doubles (look at Artic Cables, $10). Also, amazing things happen when I rolled pads with some of ZMF's finest suede and sheepskin offerings and similar but not as much change with sound and comfort with Brainwavz round PU leather pads (~$25).
When I ran my HE6se V2 off of my SMSL-SH9 (3W @ 32ohms) they sound like they have enough power but sound very flat and that makes them sound a little forward in the upper mids. When I went to my Aune S17 Pro that is when they took off and were on par with my HEk Stealth with texture and stand out timbre and vivid imaging. I think the secret sauce is higher amperage (100mA, class-A) combined with 7.6w @ 32ohms that sounded best to me. They are also amazing with all that on my A70 Pro, but the class-A, high current warmth of the Aune was the best I've ever heard this headphone perform.
Note: I had practically the same findings with Topping E50 DAC and the SMSL-SU9 DAC, but the SU9 made the sound slightly smoother.
Love your reviews. Thanks!

Before I do my full review, I plan to put some Kennerton sheep skin leather pads on for a test drive. I already have some mounted on Hifiman plastic rings.
It is a headphone that if equalized improves across the entire spectrum, I managed to obtain the performance of Audeze LCDX, for professional use on mixes and masters. (RME Digiface, Lavry 4496, A 70 pro.)
These scale very very well.. after Fosi released the new V3 mono amps I got the hifiman speaker amp adapter and made a nice balanced cable to hook that up with the M15s... this setup is amazing for the price of it all... lots of power and plenty of headroom... they couldn't sound any better than this..
I'm really happy with mine. Everything soud so real. Especially with all balanced connection.
Thank you so much for the good review.❤
Thanks for posting this video
I listen to the HE6se V2 with the Cayin HA-1A MK2 that drives them quietly with musical synergy. I use the EF400 as a dac.
I use a speaker amp to drive these headphones, smsl ao200 with speakers taps. I've also tried the topping A30 pro but they seem to be very hungry power headphones
It is actually a "special edition" as it is a collaberation with Adorama, and that is why it is not that many of them. They do need an good amp. I use Topping de90se/A90D stack. Its heavy so they should have gone with a bridge headband. The cable is crap. Other than that, simply amazing. I bought this, and then after that the sundara. That made the ever popular sundara sound underwhelming and fragile build quality.
Soooo interesting and great teaser once again William, can't wait for the full review!
If one loved Sundara and has Hifiman EF500 would you recommend Arya Stealth or this HE6SE v2?
It depends on rather you are looking for more bass? The HE6 has a similar tone balance to the Sundara. The Arya Stealth definitely has more bass.
@@theheadphoneexperience-wil2250 Prefer quality over quantity and natural representaion instead of "mainstreamized" V-shap.
I own both the Arya stealth is better in my opinion although he6 is great! The big issue with the he6 is drivability… there are a only a handful of amps that are able to drive it… also the driver in the He6se v2 is notorious for blowing out I had to replace mine and I really baby it
@@lb3537 Fair point there, read also else where about HE6s blowing.
Since I already got HE1000 Stealth before my Arya Stealth + EF500 Stealth combo arrived from Hifiman due some unfortunate delays. Though HE6 and HE1000 Stealth could hopefully be different enough instead of better and "less better" versions of stealth.
Would Serenade significantly better with HE1000S than EF500 if I just send my shipment back and took it instead?
I own he1000 stealth he1000se and Arya stealth… I use them with an he400 and Cayin ha 1A mkii tube amp…. I don’t think you would notice huge difference in sound ef500 vs serenade …and you would prob never determine which is which in a blind test…. I also own all ZMFs which is listen to 95% of the time …if you’re looking for a different sound try a ZMF Aeolus or something like that or Atrium as the more expensive option… I think headphones will make more of a difference than most amps make…
why do you never review Sennheiser headphones?
they're all more reliable and better built than anything Hifiman does
That is a very good question. I review what is loaned to me for review, and Sennheiser has never offered any review loaners.
Twice I have been offered the HD800S as a loan for a review (by viewers), but neither offer actually came through. I would love to review that and any of the 600's.
That was the most technical headphone up $2000 until HEDDphone Two. EQ a bit and it puts most things to shame.
I regret selling my HE6SE V2. Got it for a steal on Adorama. Didn't have the amp to drive it properly though and sold it
It does need some serious power.
I use sheepskin perforated earpads. Much better. Great review.
I have some Kenneron sheep skin pads I plan on trying.
@@theheadphoneexperience-wil2250 Oh absolutely. It's so odd but I'm always so amazed at how earpads change the sound profile of certain headphones. Ive also experienced earpads that affected the sound negatively. It has me thinking that so many headphones out there still have a chance to redeem themselves with earpad rolling.
Hi! Thanks for the video. How would you compare them to the HE1000 V2 Stealth? im willing to EQ. I mainly like punch and soundstage. Thanks!
Similar amount of detail, but the HE1000 Stealth has better bass, and a much larger soundstage. Also the 1000 is far easier to drive, and quite a bit lighter.
Hi! How many watts does the otl have? How many watts do you recommend at least to drive this headphone?
I would recommend an amp that can put out at least 3 wpc into 32 ohms for the HE6SE V2.
I'm not sure of the power output of the Wells Audio V8, but it does a very good job of driving the Susvara and HE6SE V2.
What's the sound difference between 400se or Sundara compared to HE6SE V2?
In my opinion the Sundara is a large step up from the HE400SE, especially in detail. The HE6SE V2 is another large step up from the Sundara.
@@theheadphoneexperience-wil2250 I didn’t realize that a 10%/15% difference between Sundara and 400se is large. I guess, I might have underestimated on how percentages can make a big difference.
I used the Haifman HE 6SE V2 with the Fosi Audio Za3
The problem became that the right channel was no longer working
Am I wrong in choosing a headphone amplifier?
I'm not familiar with that amp, but I don't think that would be the problem. Have you checked the cable, connections, the amp and source?
I looked up your amp, and found out it's a speaker amp. I know a lot of people are using speaker amps, but I assume you would need to be careful with the volume level.
I checked everything
And everything is fine
I contacted the company and they told me to send the old one and replace it
I shipped it to them and waited for the new one to arrive
Thank you, great content
if you want to use the fosi amps you have to get the hifiman speaker amp adapter.. the Za3 also has a problem that is easily fixed in that it does not have the proper output filter so its impedance variable output FR... the easy fix is to get a 5ohm resistor ( large one ) and put one each on the output of the amp then plug in the Hifiman adapter... the 5 ohm resistor will fake out the amp and make it think there is a 5 ohm speaker and that will calm down the FR variance at the output.. that amp sounds pretty good like that...the newer fosi amp has an output filter built in so you don't need the 5 ohm resistor on those mono blocks...
@@dixter1652 hi, where can I find that Hifiman adapter? Thanks
Arya nano? Whats that?
That was a mistake. I was either referring to the Ananda Nano, or the Arya Organic. If you can give me a time I can give you the correct answer.
